I saw this live on television during the House Armed Services hearing but it is great to see it in print:
“This is the craziest, dumbest plan I’ve ever seen or heard of in my life,” Rep. Neil Abercrombie (D-Hawaii) told [Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Peter] Pace during the Armed Services Committee hearing.
I didn’t think it was quite that bad. I mean, doesn’t Abercrombie remember the post-invasion plan?
a post-invasion plan? No way.
I don’t recall one that didn’t involve candy and flowers.
waay…
’twas even better than in print. and a smackdown from someone I never heard of …..priceless.
Rep Abercrombie opens with “Iraq Watch” on his website, http://www.house.gov/abercrombie/.
In the 109th Congress, he was busy with sponsoring withdrawal from Iraq, on May 17, 2005, with Kucinich, and calling for a plan for withdrawal, House Joint Resolution 55, on June 16, 2005. Ron Paul was a co-sponsor. At that time, casualties in Iraq were at 1,700.
Bullseye.
It is a shame. Before I thought the senior echelons of our officer corps epitomised mediocrity. Now after signing off on this plan they expose themselves as well worse than this.
well I suppose this has the advantage that it’s such a bad plan to start with that the planning for failure will be well advanced.
Slaps head
wait these guys don’t do planning for failure
Doesn’t that count as a false equivalency ? Rumsfeld forbade planning for after the invasion ( presumably the U.S. was going to say “Mission Accomplished” and go home ! ).
