I did initiate it myself and I would like to do one … just have some problems* motivating myself.

Sorry Olivia all of a sudden all hell busted loose here. FMom fell again, but wasn’t hurt and it took me forever to get her back up. I’ve got her in her bed right now and gave her a stern warning not to get up without calling me.

Do you know why she fell?
She was going into the den and it has two steps down to it. She slipped when she stepped down. This is like the second time in a week that she’s fallen and thankfully nothing has happened. I keep after her to use her walker, but she doesn’t. Now if I see her without it, I’m going to make her stop until I get it. Anyway she’s fine and in bed getting ready to go to sleep.
I hate to say it, but I’m going to head out. I’ve had a really long day today and I don’t want to do like Olivia and fall asleep at the computer. š
was b/c there are a lot of things we have in our homes that can lead to increase in falls … like throw rugs (tripping hazard) … poor lighting … loose stair rails or absent rails … not having bathbars or non-skid pieces in tubs … and stairs are of course notorious.
Is there something you could do to the stairs — are they carpeted, and therefore slippery, what about the railing? If she doesn’t like to use the walker in the house, maybe you could have the walker sitting near the stairs against the wall so that at least she becomes conscious of it when she sees it, even if she chooses not to use it.
Sleeping at the computer sounds like something I’ll be doing in the days ahead. Congrats on a slacktastic moment.
Well, almost at the end of another MacWorld…I think I found the digital SLR I’d like to get one of these years; the guy at the Nikon booth recommended the D40 as a good entry-level D-SLR, so I’ll keep it in mind.
Spouse and I have done well so far — Wednesday I won a set of portable speakers for my iPod, and Thursday he won a portable hard drive which will be perfect for the laptop. š And speaking of podcasts above, I made one purchase: it’s called a Micromemo; it attaches at the bottom of the iPod, it has a little microphone (or you can attach your own) and you can use it to record memos and stuff on your iPod…or you can even record podcasts then import the file into Garage Band or other sound editing software for post-production. I’m actually considering recommending a daily podcast to the Yearly Kos folks, to keep folks who can’t attend informed about what’s going on. (Chalk that up as a “What the hell am I THINKING???” moment. lol)
Okay, I’ve got to get to bed — not sure if I’m going to head up there for the last day or if I’ll just let the spouse go on his own; I’ve seen just about everything I wanted to, except for some of the biggies like Apple, Microsoft and Adobe. I’ve mostly been concentrating on some of the smaller companies that have cool stuff but don’t get the big press…
