The Judiciary committee hearing from last Thursday is being reaired now, so I have the chance to see the whole thing.
Senator Leahy opened with pointed criticism of the AG that the anthrax letter investigation is so delayed. “Whoever sent it meant to kill me,” or similar words were Leahy’s heartfelt indictment of the foot-dragging investigation.
Sens Specter and Grassley also sharply criticize the AG about the delay and lack of testimony to the committee.
This whole anthrax investigation is pretty odd to my way of thinking…and just another failure of bush’s to follow through and do something concrete about that terrorist attack that did kill some people. It’s almost as if they don’t want to find out who was behind this…unless they already know.
Then again I’ve gotten so cynical abut bushco I now always suspect the worst.
It could very well be that the perpetrator/s is/are known, and the FBI is pussy-footing around because of that. Leahy was indignant over how little was shared in a briefing, said he learned more from reading the papers. Tom Daschle was targeted, too.
I was glad to see the Republicans pile on Gonzales for the atrocious five year delay.
You know I was trying to think of something, anything that bushco has accomplished since he took office…that is or has been good for the american people and I can’t think of one competent thing that they have done. Maybe the next administration-if it’s a democrat-can get with it and clean up some of the mess that has been made in all the branches of our government.
It will be a daunting task, with so many messes, leaving the environment in a shambles, making inroads to our national parks, crippling our constitutional rights, the whole list that John Conyers gathered, that it’s a good thing that Speaker Pelosi is taking her hard line at the beginning of this congress.
How much blame for those deadly anthrax mailings could be placed on administration flunkies? Would they so far?
Like Kerry, I left out a little word there, – “go so far” is what I had intended to write.
