Good morning, Andi.
Pretty it is, but 36 hrs without power?
Do you have a back-up generator for essential needs?
You were missed yesterday morning – we understood why.
We have a small generator but we hate the noise so we never use it but over the years (losing power for extended amounts of time in the country is not uncommon) we’ve come up with a lot of techniques for getting by. And since we heat with wood, we don’t have to worry about being cold.
because it snowed first, then sleeted, then freezing rain, then more snow.
Yeah, big drifts against the doors and windows and unnerving. Most unnerving for me though was in the blizzard of 77 when our sliding glass door froze shut from the inside.
OMG I’d be bashing in the door to get out. Did you hear about those people who were stuck for 8 hours on jetblue planes in NY? There is cellphone video of people freaking out with claustrophobia and kids screaming with frustration.
Yeah I read about that — I don’t understand how they can let that happen. Some people have reacted to what happened by campaigning for a passenger bill of rights.
I saw something about that on the news. One group was in the plane for 10 hours. It’s against the regs for the pilots to be in the plane for over 12 hours, so they ended up switching flight crews while none of the passengers got off.
Hi back. I think 2 hours is about the lenght of time for me too. I don’t think I could have taken it longer than that because when I used to fly to Europe they would have mil. charter planes, more like cattle cars. There were crying babbies everywhere and all the time during a flight.
I used to love to grab one of my pampered indoor cats and take them out into the middle of the yard and just plop them into a big snowdrift. Is that mean? It sure was funny.
We did have thunderstorms around us yesterday and the electricity has been going out for the last couple of day. So if that’s going to happen then why no snow?
Life just keeps getting stranger and stranger. I got no pay this am as they have bot received the FMLA paperwork from my doctor. I called and and left a message saying it is an emergency and the paper work must be filled out and faxed today so I can get a check. LOL I will be out at least another full week if not more. Wish me luck.
Glad to see you back Miss Andie!!! and love the picture.
Working on it as fast as I can believe me. LOL I called and left a message at 7:45 for the doctor as did my leave specialist from Human resources at work.
Thank you FamilyMan!!! I cannot describe the happiness and wonder I feel right now. I am totally blown away by this. I am thrilled when people read and comment on a dairy I post. This makes me fell like I am on top of the world. I know it is only the first round and all that but still the honor to be chosen by a group of my peers and nominated makes me feel like I actually won the award itself.
There are so many writers out there that I consider so much better. They write better, they use more facts and figures while I write more from the heart. I know that as a blogger, podcaster and designer, I sometimes wonder if I reach people or not. I know my friends and compatriots understand what I am doing and why but this adds to the feeling of maybe I do or can make a difference. Damn, I am rambling and I apologize.
You’re not rambling and if anyone deserves to be nominated then it you. You put a lot of work and effort into your writing, podcasts, etc., so I wouldn’t be feeling wonder about it right now, I’d be feeling it’s about damned time. 🙂
LOL It just keeps getting better today. I have just been emailed by a blog and asked if I was interested in being a front pager. It is a Texas blog and I will keep you informed about it. I did say yes I was interested and will talk to them and see what area they want me to cover. I have a feeling it will be covering GLBT issues and of course activism on all levels as I am so involved.
Now of work would just call and say I can come pick up an emergency draft. LOL
ROTFLMAO!!!!! No, I am not leaving the pond. I love this place and have way too many friends here. As far as a big head, I think I am more humbled by this than anything. I still cannot believe any of this is happening.
is a the pretty version of why I didn’t have power for a day and a half. Ice is not nice.
That is pretty. Glad you’re back.
Morning, SN.
Yea, cold enough. Looks like we’ll get through February in one, continuous coldspell. Next week forecast is more cold.
The upside of losing power — turning on a light makes you grin.
I was thinking about you yesterday – does no power mean no work for you?
on the laptop is gone or until I go a library to work. But all three libraries in driving distance were closed and the roads were a mess so no work.
Yeah, my family has been pretty much housebound for 3 days up in Cleveland.
Good morning, Andi.

I missed me too. 🙂

My sister has 6 ft. drifts all around her house. That’s too closed in for me. I’d be digging out of there with spoons just to go to the mall.

I don’t think I’ve said ‘hi’ to you yet. Hi.
Longest I’ve ever had to sit on the runway was 2 hours and that was pretty bad. I can’t imagine what 8-10 hours would be like.

Good morning Andi, SN and ask.
We’re just in the 30s right now, but nothing spectacular. Just wet and cold.
sounds like Hopey’s nose in my neck at 6:30 – which I know sounds luxuriously late to you and Andi.
Not to me lately. I was up until 3:00 am last night. I’m surprised I’m up this early.
George knows it’s wet outside, so he not willing to go out for awhile. Sometimes it’s good to have spoiled pets. 🙂
I used to love to grab one of my pampered indoor cats and take them out into the middle of the yard and just plop them into a big snowdrift. Is that mean? It sure was funny.
That’s one of the reasons I would love to have some snow. So I could do the samething with George. Would love to see if he’d freek out or not.
I want you to have snow just to see the pics of that. C’mon ‘Bama snow!
We did have thunderstorms around us yesterday and the electricity has been going out for the last couple of day. So if that’s going to happen then why no snow?
I envy your thunderstorms. We hardly have any around here, even in the spring.
Those we have plenty of and there always seems to be a lot of tornados, but none have hit us here in years. Hope it stays the same this year.
I need breakfast. There is a Toaster Strudel calling my name.
See you later.
Yep I’ve got a bagel and cream cheese waiting for me.
Hope everyone in the pond has a good day.
Great picture!
happy Thursday, everyone!
Morning CG.
You’re sounding chipper today.

Morning Refinish
Better get that pay fixed!
Working on it as fast as I can believe me. LOL I called and left a message at 7:45 for the doctor as did my leave specialist from Human resources at work.
I’m sure it would be easy enough for them to forget if you din’t stay on them.
I’ve got to get ready for the day.
Have a good day in the pond.
True. so there is work involved in slacking? I am so confused. LOL
for a Koufax award and am in total shock. It for a dairy I posted on several blogs but is nominated from Texas Kaos. The dairy is 1138
and the Booman version can be found at 1138
Wow – congratulations, RF!
Thank you. I am so excited you will never believe it. I am absolutely stunned. It turns out I was nominated by the Texas Progressive Blog Association.
The fact that it came from an association of your peers makes it even more impressive. So another wow and let’s throw in a mazel tov.
(and now back to work)
Thank you again!!!
That is just excellent and so completely deserved.
Thank you!!!!
Congrats Refinish. See we keep telling you how great you are and this just confirms it.

Ah, just put on some ratty clothes and go to the soup kitchen for tonight. 🙂
You won’t be leaving us here will you – being a big front pager and all? Don’t you go getting a big head.
