Thank you!!! I am happy to say that by 6 pm yesterday we had raise over $400.00 to help with the situation in Nevada and that the Nevada SPCA said the adoption rate yesterday was one of the highest they had ever seen.
Thank you!!! We still have a long way to go and I think most of today will be doing rescue designs. LOL You know how prolific I can be when I get on a mission.
All shelters need help. I am sure by the time(30 to 45 days) I actually get commission on any sales some of the money will wind up going to local no kill shelters in my area. If this raises awareness not only about the Nevada but also the other shelters around the world and pet adoption, then I feel like I have succeeded.
I’ve often thought of volunteering for our shelter (I did their newsletter before they got a computer) but I don’t think I have enough room to take every animal they have home.
My sister is the animal control er..person in our hometown and I can’t go in there without getting all squishy and thinking…I have room for a blind, 3-legged, incontinent dog, don’t I?
I had an incontinent dog who was the sweetest dog ever. She seemed to understand that she dripped all the time (she was, of course, an outside dog) and so when I would go sit outside to be with her, she push up under my arm and carefully keep her tail away from me.
I cannot go to a shelter because I would wind up coming home with another dog. LOL I think I would buy a place in the country so I could have about 50 or 60 dogs if I could afford it. LOL The only time I go to shelters is when I am going with a friend to help them find a pet. LOL I have gone by to drop off donations and I make them come out to the car so I will not see the animals.
Do volunteer Andi. I spent two years as a matchmaker at my hometown shelter, helping people choose their pets. Luckily the adoption approvals were not my responsibility, so I could serve in a way that I was happy with. I loved the animals, and they loved the attention. It was the happiest work I ever did. Only brought home one cat and one dog as companions for the ones I already had.
It is possible to do your part without feeling responsible for saving the whole world, and it feels so good.
One thing about getting older and disabled – you learn and accept your own limitations. I’ve been forced to abandon my plans for starting a doggy Bed & Breakfast.
I had a dream last night that I adopted a young female cat that was in heat.
I have no idea the relevance of that, just thought it was weird. Maybe it’s time for me to get another pet…maybe something in the rodent or amphibian family to really round out the food chain.
a good time…I’ve been busy with domesticity today. Two laundry loads put away, and a couple more in the dryer for the spouse to bring up in a bit — at least I’m accomplishing SOMETHING.
Other than that, not a completely happy camper — just a small case of the grumps, nothing serious. Fortunately got leftover curried beef/rice casserole for tonight’s dinner, and the spouse will run out to the store to get more romaine lettuce and fresh Parmasan cheese so I can make another Caesar salad. Think I’ll glance through my recipe books and see if I can come up with something good for tomorrow…
Morning Miss Andi!!! Here is another rescue design I did this morning.
Please Take Me Home
That’s a great one, and the Divas get to model.

That is wonderful news!
Morning Andi and rf.
Can someone allocate a bit more sleep this way? Late night, but still awake too early.
Morning. I had a fairly early even but woke up at 3:30. LOL
RF, that’s a great design and great news on the shelter.
You know, ask, we need a sleep cache so we can just re-view those lovely hours whenever we need to.
A cache to stash away sleep, retrieve as needed – that’d be something.
Yeah, whoever designed this
systembody didn’t think through the design very well.Thank you!!! We still have a long way to go and I think most of today will be doing rescue designs. LOL You know how prolific I can be when I get on a mission.
I know you want to help the Nevada shelter but I decided to make my gesture by making an extra donation to our local shelter.

Aww. She sounds sort of like some women (not naming anyone) who have had enormous human beings pulled out of them.
like it too when she pushes her head under their arms and snuggles?
It’s usually the other way around…and they don’t like it much, especially if I haven’t showered.

I think you are a stronger and better person than me, Alice. And I honor and am thankful for your efforts.

If you would like to ask Russ Feingold a question dial 202 737-0002.
Thanks, BooMan, I’ll ask him what kind of pet we should get. 😉
dream interpretation or cats in heat?
We should at least ACT like we’re the slightest bit interested in politics. It is a political blog.
Yes but the cafe is a politics free zone. LOL Sorry., I am in a goofy mood.
It’s also a tact free zone which is why I love it. 🙂
I have a tact-free zone of 20 feet that surrounds me at all times.
Which explains why I also love you. 😛
and why we all get along so well. LOL
As my sister has explained it, I am good to have around because I make everybody else look so good.
Ah sisters. I make mine look very fit and trim so I imagine they all like to sit next to me for picture taking. Gah.
but Jim’s new lens is in over in college town (20 miles away) so road conditions be damned!
See ya later (I hope).
In today’s quest for the perfect beer…..I will be sampling Saison Dupont.
But not yet….it’s too early for beer.
Good morning, plf.
Just a couple of hours..
