There was a skim of water on the ice and I wanted to get a picture where it looked like they were walking on water but every time I tried to get close enough to take a shot that would show the water they’d move farther away.
Dang uncooperative wildlife. 😉
Yeah, I guess I’m not going to get them to stun themselves by flying into glass doors every week.
You probably could if you set up a bird feeder just inside the window.
Which reminds me, years ago I had one of those small bird feeders that’s made out of clear plexi and sticks to the outside of a window using a suction cup.
My then cat, Brian, used to sit inside the window making that wierd chin-quivering chatter that some cats make when they’ve spotted prey. The birds quickly figured out the window was between them, and would eat with him sitting only a few feet away.
We called it “the kitty entertainment center.”
That is soooo cute. And what a talented dog she is.

I’m afraid I thought sow, as well. But it’s hardly an unkind aspersion – what with pigs being intelligent and clean critters.
“Dog Logic”
This fellow as been evading me all morning. Literally, over the last two hours I have taken at least 50 blurry shots. To get this one, I took the screen out of my bedroom window and left the window open and the camera next to the window.
This lone New Holland Honeyeater (usually there are two or three together) has been zipping about from eucalyptus to cherry tree to flowers all morning, and finally my placement, the lighting, and the bird all came together at once.
Oh look, it’s a Yellow-troated Honeyeater out the front. Excuse me, it’s time to reposition the camera.
Great picture. And I love those poker flowers.
I don’t have anything against Pokers, but they’ll eventually get pulled out.
For now, we’re keeping all the non-native flowers because of the nectar-eating birds, but we’ll take them out as the native plants we’ve put in get big enough to take over supplying the nectar eaters.
Correas, Hakeas, Banksias (bottle brushes), Wattles, etc. are better suited, and don’t attract the introduced pest species. And they’re pretty to boot.

Luna is out lying in the drizzle again. I have an appointment in Hobart later today, and she’ll be going along to visit the dog wash. I’ll try to remember to take my camera and get photos.
I would say a lot better than good pictures. 🙂
I’d love to see Luna get washed. I complain about washing George, but he’s about the size of Luna’s paw.

I have yet to try your method. When I move our sliding glass door from the south- to the north-side of the house (remember, that’s our sunny side, and also our view, which is why the previous owners put all the big windows on every side but [rolls eyes]), no doubt that will change.
Even without the photo ops, it’s just nice to stand at the door and watch the birds.
