Morning!!!!Hope everyone had a good day yesterday. I did as I went to hear John Edwards in San Antonio and was more than thrilled. You can read it in my dairy John Edwards in San Antonia-My experience .
I got home last night and after blogging about it also found out a GLBT activist whom I knew had passed away on Tuesday night so many mixed feelings this am.
I love Edwards too and am thinking of going to see him in Greensboro next week, though it’s his college tour and I’ll probably feel like everyone’s grandma. At least it’s a good reason to sneak by my daughter’s “house” and take her out to lunch.
Well, while I would be thrilled if he supported gay marriage, I am thrilled that he does support civil unions and equal protection under the law. That is a step in the right direction. If he came out saying he was in total support of gay marriage he would not stand a snowballs chance in hell of getting elected. I am a gay activist but I also look at the big picture for the country and not just one issue.
I get what you are saying but so long as it is considered political suicide to be for SSM, then it will not be a part of the national political discourse that happens in a presidential campaign and the ability to change the minds of people through the political process will be damaged. I don’t see this as a single issue because the same thing applies to other sensitive issues like reproductive rights and immigration. I think the fear of supporting “touchy” issues that put us all at risk.
I know but I have been involved so long in this stuff that I have seen what can happen. I would rather have someone in office who can make a difference than the same old crap we have had in the past. There are enough issues where he is taking a stand that I feel good about him even with the ones that he is not quite there yet on. There isn’t a candidate who is 100% perfect and never will be. I picked teh one I thought could actually do the most good overall which is very important to me.
OK, beer would be good, but might interfere with work
If you’re interested in some cool analysis of Congress, who’s a liberal, who isn’t and so on, I recommend my diary (which has so far, NO comments….sob)
Currently 55 out, expecting a high of 65 — supposed to reach 72 by the weekend. Feeling much more energetic than yesterday; I think the knowledge that I’ll soon have my freakin’ LIFE back is the reason. After I get done with my computering (and get the spouse off the other computer), we’re going to get a lot done today, or at least that’s the plan…
Hope everyone is doing well: ReFi, sorry to hear about the loss of your friend, but glad to hear about the Edwards appearance — I’ll check out your diary in a bit. Ask, congrats on the new computer; I’m slowly getting used to the new MacBook (making fewer typos every day) — just need to figure out when to reformat the iBook for the spouse’s use and get it in for servicing. SN, go see Edwards, PLEASE; missed him when he was in the Bay Area a few weeks ago and still kicking myself! Everyone else, stay warm, stay safe and have a good day…
Morning Andi. I love that photo.
And now, I’m off to bed. Good night all, and have a good Thursday on the other side of the globe.

march on the pentagon: 3.17.07
Draft Al Gore: 2008
Looks like we’ve got a trend going — show up and go to bed. Too bad I can’t join in.
Good morning, Amdi, Good night keres and dada!
Hi CG. Did you get any snow?
About 2 inches. Not enough to cancel school or anything.
And boy is it cold. Less than 20 degrees today.
Given the usual weather pattern, the cold should be gone in a day or so. It’s going to be 49 today, 57 tomorrow.

I’m sorry for your loss, RF.
Thanks Miss Andi.
I’m sorry too.
Thank you. I am in shock because I just spent most of the day with Buck Sunday at the Stonewall Texas Caucus.
There’s a well known AIDS activist in Cle named Buck – I doubt it’s the same guy.
Sorry to hear that, RF.
The Buck I knew was from here in Texas. He was an SDEC member, and had been active in Democratic politics and civil rights the majority of his life.

NO GO!!!!!! The crowds have been every age, every color, race you name it. You will not regret it at all.
Ok, you talked me into it! 🙂
Get there early so you can be close to the front. I got to shake his and and was thrilled. He is really that compelling in person.
while you’re there make sure you let him know he needs to support same-sex marriage.
I will try to do that and have voiced that same thing in an email to him and to Elizabeth.

We’ll agree to disagree. 🙂
Off to the dentist. See ya.
I am liking Edwards more and more.
His refusal to be on Fox’s debate got me to give him some money.
Good morning, everyone!
Putting faith in FSM that UPS will deliver today.
Good morning and good luck. LOL
It’s here!
Up and running – now downloading and re-installing, which is a drag. Can’t recall all passwords.
How exciting! 🙂
Coffee, grits with ham and cheese…..yum

Sorry for pimping it here
No apologies plf515 … This is the perfect place to pimp it. 🙂
And I have been awaiting more of your stats diaries.
Good morning to all. It’s up to 15 friggin’ degrees here but at least the wind has stopped. Time to break out the bermuda shorts.
We’re at -3F or -26F w/ windchill here …
Yikes. I’m afraid I’m not cut out for Canadian winters. 🙂
But supposed to go up to 39F Sunday … break out the shorts!

Thank you> It is still hard to deal with my mixed feeling of elation from the rally and total shock and sadness from the loss of Buck.
