Story of my life. Whenever I get into a dispute with a cute zoo animal, I’m ALWAYS the one who’s not believed. But those hyenas were laughing at me, I tell you–laughing at me.
The woman got in touch with her Tawanda!!! (that will only make sense if you’ve seen the movie “Fried Green Tomatoes” – sorry, I could find a link to explain it.)
it’s what i just did, all weekend. i’m a gardener, so for me it’s more than refreshing and invigorating. to see life coming back after winter is…magical. well, for me at least.
what or who in the blogosphere “disappointed” you, boo?
After more than 5,500 votes through theBookseller.com this year’s Diagram Prize for the Oddest Title of 2006 is The Stray Shopping Carts of Eastern North America: A Guide to Field Identification.
[…]
Stray Shopping Carts joins a noble pantheon of Diagram winners, perhaps closest in spirit to those rural guides How To Shit in the Woods: An Environmentally Sound Approach to a Lost Art (1989) and Weeds in a Changing World (1999).
My singing career is on the road to comeback, because I have a new fan.
My Son.
His favorite movie right now is Cars. Every night when it’s my turn to put him to bed he asks me to sing him a song. One night he asked me to sing a song from Cars
Fortunately, my repertoire is mostly standards and showtunes, and one of the songs featured in the movie is “Route 66,” which I like because I’m close to Nat Cole in my range.
So, now he asks for that song every night. And I get to improvise a little on it every night.
The hail stopped (but not before it did in my windshield). The snow stopped. The sleet stopped. The sun came out.
This Sunday has been declared “Generosity Sunday” here in Santa Fe, aka The City Different.
A number of progressives gathered in the sun at one of the parks. Restaurants and grocers supplied free food. There were speeches, music, and skateboarding at the foot of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. A friend and I even picked up a few signatures for our Draft Gore petition.
It was a good day.

was a wonderful day spent with a five year old quarterhorse. Dakota seems to prefer trails to open fields. We even got him trailered in unbelievably short time, he’s only been trailered three times. Later we all got take out and entertained my seven month old grandson. Life was simple, life was good.
we just got back from ‘a newfie’. After a long winter of many newfie sighs and not nearly enough playtime, it was a great walk for, you see, the fields are full of fresh wet really smelly dirt, soppy streams, rabbits & wahoo other dogs to race with – up and down round and round until all the people persons have been tripped, knocked over and thoroughly licked. Newfie is already resting up with a gentle snore from across the room.
I’m loving today from a sports standpoint (even though the Pistons got crushed by the 76ers). It is just so awesome to see so many major league baseball players wearing Jackie Robinson’s number to honor him. 60 years to the day since he broke the color barrier.
Watching MSNBC and “Journey with George,” Alexandra Pelosi’s documentary of footage from Bush on the campaign trail in 2000. HOW did this country elect such a moron? Oh, that’s right…we didn’t. He was a smart ass then, and so was Rove. Buffoons!
Maybe we should combine our two open thread. LOL
Think that’ll start a flamewar?
at least neither of them are rodents.
I can’t even believe I’m seeing this type of anti-rodent, eliminationist rhetoric being used on a [il]liberal blog. Delete my fucking account Booman!
In the words of the master, that is some adorable-ass shit.
It looks he’s got the hang of it.
I assume that by “the hang of it” you mean make the most of those capacious hamster cheek-pouches.
Turtles???
Too cute!
Now, excuse me ‘cuz I’m gonna have to go play my entire Etta James collection.
you call that cute? It should eat poison and die in your walls.
Troll!
One of my favorites is a print by Thomas Mangelsen, Bad Boys of the Arctic – always makes me smile.
That one is cute…they look like they just need the remote to watch the game.
Polar bears start out cuddly and cute, but they end up fierce predators.
Global warming is, alas, certain to drive the polar bears to extinction–perhaps in our lifetimes.
The phrase “tip of the iceberg” is also likely to vanish from the lexicon, because nobody will know what an iceberg is….
I’m being sexually harassed!
What? A coy little bear like that, harassing you?
Story of my life. Whenever I get into a dispute with a cute zoo animal, I’m ALWAYS the one who’s not believed. But those hyenas were laughing at me, I tell you–laughing at me.
Bears, Bears, you’re both pretty.
I don’t know why it’s so small – but you get the drift.
You win. No contest there!
there is only one surefire remedy.
I was going to say Lassie, but close enough
Here you go.
Except ours is a boy. (‘Course, so were many of the incarnations of Lassie…)
I’d suggest everyone go to C&L and watch Gwen Ifill smack down Tim Russet and David Brooks.

Today was beautiful. I got some seedlings planted, and the dollar grass out of the satsumas.
Get you filthy stealing hands off my shtick.
Thanks for the gift idea for my b-i-l;-)
Is that a floor mop?

Awwww! What a cute story. And I’m sharing this tidbit with a friend of mine who was the editor on Cars!

I’m jealous.
