Hi Manee! Seemed like I caught some money, money in there, too. I used to hear a lot of hot music like this in FL – not so in the midwest where I am now.
those feel good songs are hard to translate because it’s alot of metaphor for just enjoying life instead the word-for-word stuff – it’s all in the rhythm/ritmo tho.
car show, eh? haven’t been to a good one in awhile but planning on it for Cinco de Mayo. Should be some great music and food too. mmmm
Hi Family Man. No, I won’t tell you that. There’s a live band down the street and about 80 hot rods and classic cars parked down there for a cruise-in street show. We just got back from looking and drooling over some of them. Can’t drool on the cars, though. The owners get upset.
I once leaned against a guys car while talking to someone. The guy yelled at me from 3 stories down to get the hell off his car. Ya ever had one of those times when someone says something to you and you can’t find them. That’s what I was going through. 🙂
Heh – my great uncle, who was a great joker, used to lean out the 2nd floor window at work and shoot people with a pea shooter. At least you only got yelled at;-)
So true. Its a great family story. Supposedly, he was never caught. He was of French descent and had a wonderful humor. He and my great aunt eventually retired to a small farm in Vermont where he spent his days tying fishing flies.
You know ID that’s one thing that I relly like. Family stories that are passed down. My family has been here for a long time and we have stories about long ago relatives. They weren’t all good and they weren’t all bad, but I like them anyway.
Ya know, I’ve always heard when you’ve got money you spend it. Then again, I remember the press putting out about high priced haircuts from politicians before.
The man’s running for the most powerful office in the world, and he has a serious chance of winning. A big factor in whether he gets it is how well he comes across on TV and while making speeches. The campaign will cost millions.
Who cares if he spends $400 to look good? If the source I saw had it right, it was actually two different cuts from a stylist who’s done his hair for years and travelled to where he was for them, AND two makeup/style jobs before campaign TV appearances.
A good makeup/stylist for TV can get between 2 and 4 thousand a day plus expenses. Seems to me he got a good deal.
wouldn’t be complete without the late, great El Rey…Tito Puente:
with an absolutely stellar band c.2000:
Tito Puente: timbales, vibráfono
Hilton Ruiz: piano [no longer w/ us, sadly]
Giovanni Hidalgo: congas
Mario Rivera: saxo tenor
Dave Valentín: flauta
Joe Santiago: bajo
¡muy bueno!…ésta es música AG habla y juega…¿sepa lo que significo?…¡goce!
awesome sauce, dada. thx for sharing. can’t believe how much the latin music world lost when Tito Puente and Celia Cruz left this stage for the next one in the sky.
you’re right….a lot is gone, but not lost. they left an amazing amount of recorded work and an indelible mark on music.
l have been fortunate to live in a place w/ a very active and vibrant latin jazz sensibility….it has been an enlightening and pleasant musical experience. l was fortunate enough to catch a live performance of El Rey not too long before his passing….charisma, talent, killer band, monster arrangements….had the crowd jumping and in his hands for 3 hrs…a memory l cherish.
it’s an awesome artform…to quote albert ayler: music is the healing force of the universe.
I completely undrstand. However, IMHO you need the speed! Get thee out to the internet as you did the slopes. Slide down those slippery electronic slopes as you did when teaching.
to Celia’s for the Saturday mariachi music, but looks like we’re heading somewhere closer instead. 🙁 (Times like this I miss our old apartment — this one is much nicer but that place was within walking distance of both Celia’s and a great taqueria.)
Thanks for the music though — heading out to dinner shortly…
A little salsa music to get the blood stirring.
Hellooooo RF.
I like the song, now care to translate?
Where’s Manny when ya need him. 🙂
LOL I couldn’t translate if my life depended on it.
Like I said, where’s Manny when ya need him. 🙂
Hopefully, he will come in later and translate.
Regardless it’s a good song. I’ve always listened to the music more than the words anyways.
sounds like a compilation, but cascabel in la arena is ‘bell in the sand’ – pretty standard lyrics calling the people to release and dance.
good stuff, refi
Thanks Manny. Like I said I listen more to the melodies than the lyrics. Although without you, I wounldn’t have known what the lyrics say. 🙂

We had our first ice cream cones of the year. It was almost up to 80 here today.
LOL I actually prefer icecream when it is cold outside. I know I am a nut. LOL
Glad you liked it!!! I have a Samba Number coming up next.
Wow! I’m awake and ready to boogie now! That was great, rf. Hope your blues are flying away;-)
Thank you!!!! I am going to try and do a mix of music styles tonight.
Helloooo Indianadem.

Today that might get you more than yelled at.

A little Samba Music to keep the blood flowing.
I’m a big fan of groups that still perform nowadays, through vocals and instruments.
La Reina – Celia Cruz – La Vida Es Un Carnaval
Manny he was pretty good.
[whispers] psssst, she’s a woman [/whisper]
🙂
I sincerely apologize to her and you. She has such a deep voice that I just assumed. As I’ve always been told, assuming make two asses of…….
ha, no worries – she was quite the character.
Great one!!!!
OK with the songs going on, I’d like to find something by a group called Spookytooth.
I doubt anyone can find it, but I remember them from the late 60’s.
spookytoooth doing I am the Walrus. LOL
RF you are the greatest!
I couldn’t even remember the song, and you found the exact one. Thank you!
You are welcome but now back to some dance music. LOL
