Michael Nutter is surging at just the right time.
The latest Daily News/Keystone poll shows former City Councilman Michael Nutter with a commanding lead over the four other major candidates in the Democratic mayoral primary.
The election is Tuesday.
Nutter led the poll with 31 percent, followed by millionaire Tom Knox with 21 percent, U.S. Rep. Chaka Fattah with 13 percent, U.S. Rep. Bob Brady with 11 percent and state Rep. Dwight Evans with 3 percent.
This is really a shocking development. I endorsed Michael Nutter a few days ago. But I never saw his rise coming. My biggest hope is that we win some of our insurgent city council races as well as the race for City Hall. Can Philadelphia prove the power of the progressive movement within the Democratic Party? We’ll know next Tuesday night.
