Good morning, rf!

Here is an excerpt from Queen Noor’s statement on CNN:
In 1982, during a period of dangerous stalemate in the Middle East peace process, I gave a speech at Georgetown University about the critical need for a more engaged and balanced role for the United States in the region.
The newspapers the next day covered my handbag, my rings, and my dress. When asked about the substance of my message, one U.S. Senator said, “It’s a great public relations weapon to have an attractive queen.”
Twenty-five years later, the geopolitical landscape of the Middle East still reflects some of the most pressing global challenges confronting the contemporary world — the stagnant Palestinian/Israeli peace process, the increasingly dangerous conflict in Iraq, the escalation of extremism, the debate over emerging democracies — all point to the need for visionary and transformative leadership. I firmly believe that peace will only come to the region when mothers find their voice and say of the violence, “Enough is enough!”
Mother’s Day — whether it is the U.S. tradition of celebrating mothers on the second Sunday in May, or on the first day of spring, when we observe the holiday in Jordan — is universally meant to be a tribute to motherhood and the blessings of peace. In fact, in America the holiday was originally called “Mother’s Day for Peace.” It was proposed over a century ago by Julia Ward Howe, the famous abolitionist and suffragist, after she witnessed first-hand the terrible bloodshed of the Civil War in America and the Franco-Prussian War in Europe. Howe hoped that the powerful maternal desire for security could shape world events, and she called on mothers of the world to unite against war.
Queen Noor is a class act and I would advise reading her complete message.
If Alice hadn’t shown up I would have had my cup of coffee with 3 men!….actually, I have 3 sons and a husband so that’s not so rare, but it was a nice thought anyway!
RF – I got empty bedrooms and Hopeful, Jr. would love the company.
When anyone in my family says it will be a lunch, it usually starts around 1 or 2 pm. So around noon we’ll head out. Probably won’t get back until later this afternoon.
Verrry quiet, overcast and misty day. It seems like dawn still. Colin made me a Mother’s day dinner last night and heads back to college today and other than that just Ben and I hanging out. Oh, and the boys put together the new platform bed I ordered from Overstock and it’s cool.
Don’t know exactly what you mean by platform bed, but I do know my sister has a bed that just to get into it they have a little step platform. I would be afraid to sleep in it for fear of falling out. 🙂
Seriously, you know how today’s mattresses are really really deep? If you buy a new set and put it on a traditional bed it’s like 5 feet in the air. I hated how high it was so I’m passing it on to my tall son and his wife.
Yep know what you’re talking about. But down here we have an answer for that. You either put in more corn shucks and hay or take it out. I’m surprised that hasn’t caught on yet. 🙂
Really, the underpants add a lot of style to just about any room. Hopey drops mine in the middle of the dining room and I’m amazed at the difference it makes.
Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers and Happy Birthday to Cabin Girl, whose birthday I hope I have not missed…
To Refinish, here’s a little bit of hope for you,,,,oh about 8 years ago I was in a tough spot and got evicted from apartment, had no idea what I was going to do, no car and no place to go, began to move all my stuff out to the grass area and prepared to wait to see what fate would bring me…before I was even done with the moving, up drove an unlikely “friend” (actually I barely knew him) with a truck to move my stuff to a storage facility and a place to stay for a week, which was just enough to set me on the path to up again. So I wish you the very best and hope that a miracle will happen for you too!
It appears Mother’s Day down here has fallen through. FMom woke up with a sore throat yesterday and today she’s not feeling well at all. She was going to get ready and go to my nieces, but I put my foot down. I told her in the first place she isn’t feeling well and second she didn’t want to be around the babies when she possibly had something that they could catch.
I think she’s relieve on not going. So it will be a quiet day here today. Yaaa Hooo. 🙂
Thanks RF. Hopefully it’s just a sore throat and nothing worse. I’ll see today how it goes, and if she’s not feeling better tomorrow, I’ll try and get her to her doctor.
Oh, poor FMom! Give her some hot tea with honey and steal some flowers from the cemetery to give her for Mother’s Day. The Mr. is in Europe and his mother had another stroke and is in the hospital. So far the only damage they know of is that she can’t tell time on a regular clock. She had that procedure where they superglue the vertebrae in her back that was cracked about 6 weeks ago and has been bedridden at home ever since. I was telling her real children that that was not normal and that she needs to get back in there for a checkup and that if she didn’t get out of bed she would die….I used happier words but that was the gist of it. They thought I was overreacting.
I like the flower idea, but I’ve got to find the plastic or silk ones. You know, the gift that keeps on giving. 🙂
If you remember I was in the hospital for a fractured vertebrae and they did the same thing. I was out the next day and walking normally. It’s a lot of times done as out patient. I agree with you.
More than likely I’ll tell her I was thinking of getting some flowers and which cemetery would she prefer they come from. I’m sure once she stops raising the roof about even thinking about something like that, she’ll feel a little better. 🙂
There’s got to be some family that your family has been feuding with for centuries – go steal flowers from their graves. Isn’t that the way it works down there? 😉
Everyone is well. The weekend was gorgeous and today promises to be more of the same.
The Alpacas in particular are enjoying the sunshine. And because of the fine weather, Luna has been enjoying longer than usual afternoon walks.
As I type Albert is hopping about the floor with greater than his usual activity level for this time of day. I’m not sure what the ducks are up to, but I’m sure they’ll mug me for food the second I step out the door. And speaking of ducks, I need to find new homes for our surfeit of drakes. At least one is going to Imogen’s brother as a breeder and another for the pot (he’s got a twisted wing), which leaves me with three more young ones and their father the lovely and charming Heckle. Hopefully I can trade Heckle for a drake new to our flock. I like Heckle, but we’ve got too many of his daughters to use him for breeding anymore.
Pet animals (especially cats), like gasses, expand to fill all available space. Since you have fewer animals than I do, yours simply have more room to expand.
This explains why your bed or the couch, etc. always seems so roomy until a dog or cat get on it with you and suddenly you’re squeezed all the way to one side.
Another example is a cat I once had that when faced with being put in the bathtub suddenly expanded to where he could always get at least one paw over the lip of the tub to pull himself out.
Albert is so invested in expansion that he expends most of his energy trying to open doors so that he has even more space to inhabit.
This theory needs a name. Maybe I’ll put up a poll in the next dog blog to name it.
To all the Moms!!!!!
Here is a link to my Mother’s day Podcast:
Happy Mother’s Day
Good morning Refinish.
It’s good to see you. As usual, great graphic.
Morning FamilyMan!!!! Good to see you also!!!!
Been thinking of you and wondering how things are going. Anything show up yet?
nothing has shown up and I have no clue where I will be as of the 16th.
Well I’ll still be thinking of you and hoping something shows up.
Thanks!!!
Good morning, rf!

I didn’t have a problem with firefox. LOL I don’t know why it is messing up for you.
Great tribute to all mothers, rf.
Any potential solutions to the housing problem?
NO solutions. It looks like I will be taking the Diva Dogs to a shelter and I have no idea where I will be.
Shit, rf. I don’t know what to say now, it gets kind of meaningless.
May all good karma move in your direction!
Thank you.
I wish you were closer, so I could take them for you for awhile. And you’d be welcome too, of course!
I hope something works out.
Thank you!!!!
Good morning gentlemen. It’s a beautiful day – hope you’re all doing well.
Good morning Alice.
It’s a nice day here and hope you’re doing well too.
Good morning, Alice!
Beautiful day in the NY-area as well. Cool and crisp, the mugginess of the last few days gone.
Morning Alice!!!
Just got back. It seems FMom and George has telepathy and decided they both needed me at the same time.

Good morning SN and Happy Mother’s day.
Thanks, FM. When do you and FMOm start your journey?
When anyone in my family says it will be a lunch, it usually starts around 1 or 2 pm. So around noon we’ll head out. Probably won’t get back until later this afternoon.
What’s happening in your neck of the woods toady?
Verrry quiet, overcast and misty day. It seems like dawn still. Colin made me a Mother’s day dinner last night and heads back to college today and other than that just Ben and I hanging out. Oh, and the boys put together the new platform bed I ordered from Overstock and it’s cool.

LOL Platform bed is not an antique bed that is so high you need steps. LOL
This platform bed just means the mattress sits on a platform (a bunch of slats) instead of needing a box springs, so it’s low and sleek looking.
Link to my cool bed
Geezee I feel so out of touch. 🙂
The bed looks cool.
You mean your burlap and rope bed is a tad outdated?
What burlap and rope? That would be a tad to fancy. 🙂
Seriously, you know how today’s mattresses are really really deep? If you buy a new set and put it on a traditional bed it’s like 5 feet in the air. I hated how high it was so I’m passing it on to my tall son and his wife.

Very nice!!!!!
Very cool!
Wanna decorate my place? 🙂
Sure!…do you like cat hair and chewed up underpants everywhere? That’s the theme of my place lately.
I’m going with our usual summer dog hair motif.
Really, the underpants add a lot of style to just about any room. Hopey drops mine in the middle of the dining room and I’m amazed at the difference it makes.
I guess I could see that just as long as there are no skid marks. 🙂
Hate to but gotta go. Breakfast is being demanded by human and animals right now.
See ya’ll later and hope everyone has a happy Mother’s Day.
Ewwww!
I’ve been going for the dog hair and boxers motif myself…
And now I have baby chicks in the kitchen…what a WONDERFUL mother’s day present: something more to take care of. 🙂
I might be calling you. LOL
(pssst…check your email/paypal. I hope it helps a little.)
Thank YOU!!!!!! I saw that dn really appreciate it.
Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers and Happy Birthday to Cabin Girl, whose birthday I hope I have not missed…

Happy Mother’s Day back atcha! 🙂
Beautiful rose too!
Aren’t you gone yet? I thought you were going for a long drive.
See below.

Sorry to hear about the stroke, but you are right she needs to be up and moving.

Give her that ginger peach tea I sent you – I don’t care if you hate peaches, the tea is yummy.
She’ll love the plastic flowers….just use a blow dryer to clean them off.
She’s not a big tea drink except for liptons.
Nah it more them families up in Northern states like TN, KT and WV that do the feuding. 😛
I sitting down with a large mug of tea with an inordinate amount of honey in it. Yummm.
Happy Mum’s day to all of you still celebrating it, no matter whether your children be human, or fur, finned, feathered, or otherwise clad.
Hi keres
How are all the otherwise clad children on the farm doing?
Everyone is well. The weekend was gorgeous and today promises to be more of the same.

Glad to hear the weekend was good for ya’ll. Here I was thinking a dog and two cats was a lot to take care of. 🙂
that equates pets with gasses.
Pet animals (especially cats), like gasses, expand to fill all available space. Since you have fewer animals than I do, yours simply have more room to expand.

The squeezed to one side I have plenty of experience with.
I think that’s a good idea to put up a poll at the next dog blog.
