New thread for all…
And now I’m off to take the dog to the groomers. See you all in a bit!
Ooooh CG! What a smoky looking picture. 😉
Off to the dog groomers huh? I’m just about to the point of getting the clippers out and clipping George. Something I very much do not look forward to.
Things are starting to stir around the house, gotta go.
Have a good day in the pond.
It’s a great picture…somehow I knew you’d like to see it up there. 🙂
Unfortunately, ShihTzu fur is beyond my grooming capabilities. The good news is that we can cut it REALLY short for the summer and it takes longer to grow back.
You have a great day, too.
Time to head out here as well.
Looks great outside and the birds are chirping in the backyard.
Blogging from San Jose Airport (had to pay $7 but with an hour plus to kill it’s worth it).
Heard that Kucinich is going to make some sort of special orders speech sometime today — any word as to what he said? Might have to cruise the CSPAN website for info later tonight.
Good morning Andi.
Has the smoke cleared?
Somewhat. I didn’t smell any in the morning, but yesterday afternoon I did. This morning nothing. I guess it’s a day by day thing.
I hope it clears up permanently soon.
And I’m clearing out now. Ta.
Thanks Andi and see ya later.
Good morning, Andi and FM!
Since I am taking off tomorrow, it’s almost weekend.
Good morning ask.
Good for you on taking off tomorrow. You might get some slacking in there.
One can always hope.
And I have to arrange “access-away-from-home” with my service provider so the laptop can come along as well.
That’s a new one for me “access-away-from-home”. I don’t even know if my service provider does that.
That’s a good thing though, because we can hear how the cleaning and work are going. 🙂
I’ll let you know if I figure it out. Last I tried (on a Sunday), I spent 1.5 hrs between a number of service agents, finally to be transferred to the right place, which was closed for the weekend.
Hope you do figure it out. I hate when that happens about having to stay on the phone for hours just for a simple question.
How’s the forecast for Berkshires?
It looks great for tomorrow and Saturday. Young asklet will come along and has been told to bring his swimsuit.
More iffy for Sunday and Memorial Day.
Good morning everybody!
Good morning CG.
Any big plans today?
Hmm…work, visit a potential high school for CBtE late this morning, work some more, run to the city, then baseball game for CBtY tonight…
How about you?
I’ll probably be going into the city today too. Got to pick up a few things.
Other than that, not much.
Good morning, CG!
I need to get on with packing.
Are you off on Friday as well? Will you leave early in the day to beat the traffic out of the city?
I’m thinking we’ll wait until early Saturday AM to head down to DC so we don’t have to sit in traffic Friday afternoon.
Yup, we’re all taking off tomorrow.
Picking up rental car tonight, off early tomorrow.
Schlepping all my stuff to the office this morning.
You’re heading down to the Zoo meet-up?
Hope you all have a great time.
Although it’s not been that for me — I’m actually $116 ahead on my gaming budget. 🙂 And since the room is costing me nothing, I figure I’m playing with the house’s money to a certain extent. 🙂 🙂
SPAMALOT was excellent — highly recommend it to all the Pythonites in the Lounge. According to the Wiki it’s about 30 minutes shorter than the Broadway version, so I’d love to see that for a comparison. It was also obvious that they threw in a few strictly Vegas touches that aren’t part of the standard Broadway performance.
John O’Hurley makes a great King Arthur — I wasn’t into Seinfeld when it was on so I never saw him as J. Peterman and thus was unaware of his comedic acting skills; he’s also got an excellent singing voice. Got to say that I think the guy who played Not-So-Brave Robin practically stole the show.
Mellowing here in the room for a bit; going to watch some of my favorite ESPN shows, and also try and find Keith’s Special Comment on the Internets (Vegas is covered by Cox Cable and I don’t think they carry MSNBC — I’ve never seen it in any of the hotels I’ve been in). Debating whether to try and catch the Second City improv show at 10:30 tonight, or turn in for a decent night’s sleep (airport shuttle’s picking me up at 8:30 am). At my advanced age, I think sleep just might win out. 😉
Hope everyone is doing well…
Hi Cali.
Happy to hear you’re ahead of the game, so to speak. 🙂
I’ve never been to a broadway show, but I would like to see SPAMALOT.
Have a good time tonight whether seeing a show, gambling or sleeping.
Who’s around and who would like a beer?
Just coming by now, FM.
Isn’t 27 the usual order?
How are you this evening?
Hi ask.
27 of the usual coming up. I’m doing fine today.
Did you get your packing done for the weekend?
Hey,
Delay, as curly could not get on her e-mail.
Yes, car picked up, young asklet is here and bags ready for tomorrow morning.
No problem.
So I guess in the morning the only thing you’ve got to do is to get a cup of coffee and hit the road. I hope you don’t have my, dammit i forgot this or that trait. It never fails that half way there, I’ll remember something I forgot to pack.
A couple of t-shirts, swimsuit, toothbrush and laptop – we’ll be OK.
Young asklet is reminiscing last summer in Norway; the neighbor’s dog Gaia died recently, so we won’t see her this summer.
I remember when I lived in Portsmouth, NH the first summer I went to the beach and dived right in. Someone forgot to tell me that the water temperature was a lot different from down in the gulf. Yikes! 🙂
That wakes you up.
curly had to do e-mails, now it’s bedtime.
(I bet you’re making z’s already.)
It’s
boob-mashingmammogram morning for me, oh joy.Good morning Andi.
I see you have something to look forward to. 🙁
Are you up early or still awake?
Still awake. Just couldn’t get to sleep last night.
Do you and Jim have any big plans for the holiday?
Jim and I have no plans for the holiday. You?
Good morning, Andi and FM!
curly says; ouch – and you have our sympathies.
And second the ouch.
What boob? 😛
Good morning again everyone.
I seemed to have fallen asleep while typing. I don’t care what you say, it takes slacking talent to do that. 🙂
Good morning, afternoon and evening everyone.
Trouble sleeping again?
Me, I slept all the way to 5:45 a.m.!
Yep, I woke up around 2:00 am and just said to heck with it.
You made it until 5:45 am? Sounds like my slacking rhetoric is finally getting through. 🙂
Nah, just celebrating the long weekend.
Family coming over for Memorial Day?
You deserve to celebrate. It won’t be long before you have to travel again, will it?
I think it’s just me and FMom this weekend. My older brother told FMom they would be here, but with them you never know when they will finally show up.
Are you and Jim just going to slack this w/e?
(Jim’s only got one week till he’s onto full time slacking)
I’m out of town again the week of the 11th. 🙁
But I need to get traveling right now — looks like we’ve finally got some rain coming so the Pack and I are going to head out now.
Have a good one.
I’ll take some of that rain and raise you a drought.
Have a good one.
Good morning Family Man and Andi if you’re back from your pack walk. I’ve been captive of a series of unfortunate events of late and haven’t been able to visit here. I’m hoping for a bit of slackery this weekend, though.
Good morning ID.
Sorry to hear about the unfortunate events. I do hope you have a slackerly weekend.
The same to you, FM. 89 yo mom broke her hip and in the course of her recovery, we found she has become more than a little forgetful about maintaining her daily routine, like paying the rent, etc. I’m keeper of the checkbook now. We barely staved off some utility shutoffs at her apartment. Also, since its a second floor unit, she won’t be able to return there because of the broken hip – no stair climbing, so we’re looking for suitable accommodations. Mrs. Dem and I live in a very small space, about 800 sq ft, so we can’t move her in with us and my brother’s home is too isolated out in the country. She really likes the rehab center where she’s living to recuperate from the injury, as half the old folks there are old friends of hers, so we’re waiting for an assisted living apartment to become available for her there. At least she’s walking well enough we can take her out to our place for meals and an occasional restaurant outing. My brother and I are meeting later today to organize her stuff at her old apartment for the move.
In other senior citizen news, I woke up about 4 am a couple of weeks ago with a front tooth rattling around in my mouth. I still don’t know what the heck happened, but it was a crowned root canal, so a lot of investment is out the window. The dentist says an implant would be the best thing, current price tag about $3500. If it was a back tooth, I’d just say so long, but I look like such a hick without it and since I’m already from south central Hoosierville I don’t need any image enhancement of that sort…
I’m so sorry to hear about your mother. Falling is the biggest thing that I have to watch for all the time with FMom. Since she broke her shoulder last Sept, she has fallen 11 times. Luckily nothing more than some bruised muscles. So anytime FMom is up, I’m usually up to help her. I’ve got a friend in MI that just moved his Mom into an assisted living facility. At first he said she didn’t want to go, but now she loves it.
One question on your dentist. Is he trying to get you to finance his trip to Europe this year? That price tag sounds really over the top.
Mom seems very happy where she is around friends. She had become somewhat isolated from them at her apartment, since most of them don’t get around like they used to and weren’t able to walk up to the 2nd floor to visit. She is especially happy she doesn’t have to fix her meals and has a nice view of the farm next door out the window.
The titanium implant with requisite bone grafting $2500, the crown $1000. Whoooeee!
Good to hear from you and very sorry to hear about your mom.
I definitely think you should go for the Hoosier Hick look — you never know when the next Frank Hohenberger is going to come around.
Funny you should mention Hoenberger. I mowed his yard for him a couple of summers when I was about 12. His was a funny character. I really enjoy his work and have a couple of hand painted black & white photos he did. The IU library has a very nice collection of his work online.
I’m impressed with your brush with fame. 😉
I like that site a lot — I even snitched a photo from it once to use as a self-portrait in the cafe.
Well I’m off to Blooms. Have a great weekend.
At least this time of year you should be able to find a parking spot there.
Hi, ID, sorry about your mom and her troubles. My husband’s mother is going through very much the same thing right now.
As for dental implants – well worth the money and I can’t understand why dental insurance won’t cover them. They’d rather have you pull out all your teeth and then they’ll pay for full dentures.
I got two dental implants two years ago and haven’t had a single problems with them, while my traditional crowns are all crumbling and falling off. Go figure.
Now I’m sure that FM would tell that were you adopt ID’s look, you’d fit in much better in The South™ (well that and you’d have to stop writing those letters to the editor)
I just wrote another one this morning. They have a once every 30 day limit so I’m hoping it’s been more than 30 days since the last one.
I’m sure it will enlarge your fan club considerably (well in a just world it would).
I don’t have room for any more fans.
Hi SN! I’m glad to hear your implants are working well and I think our dental insurance may pay about a third of the total, although the policy is written in dentalspeak, so I’m not sure of anything really.
Keep the LTE’s coming. The one below is a good one.
Mine paid for the crown itself, but only after I complained.
I can hope, I guess.
Has anyone heard from refinish69? I remember he was having a tough time of his own about the time my Mom fell.
just seeing if this works…..
