Have a new thread. And has anyone else noticed that there’s a dearth of interesting news for the News Bucket this morning?
Morning CG.
Dearth? Ya just had to go and have me looking up words first thing in the morning. 🙂
Feeling less belligerent this morning FM? I sort of liked you that way. 🙂
Hey there CG – the boys done with school yet?
Morning SN.
Back to my old self. How’s the move back home going?
I think my son is kicking himself for moving this week with the Cavs in the NBA finals. He manages a club downtown right by the arena and it’s been wild there throughout the playoffs. He made 400 in tips saturday night.
I forgot if you said, but has he found another job in your town. (notice the spelling :))
Good avoidance of having to spell Raleigh, FM.
Yeah, he found an okay job to start with…then he’ll find something better. I’ll tell you what though, it will get me off my ass at night and out amongst the living.
Oh that a picture. Mom hanging out at the bar that son works in. 🙂
Should have been. Oh there’s a picture.
I think I need to get out more….but I don’t drink. And it’s a cool jazz/blues live music sort of bar. Not skeevy unemployed men drinking beer at 11 in the morning kind of bar.
Not skeevy unemployed men drinking beer at 11 in the morning kind of bar.
Doesn’t sound like my kind of place. Too high class. 🙂
You should come up and go there with me. You’d like it….very smoky probably. Cough cough.
I thought smoking was banned in all bars. You sure this isn’t one of those underground places?
Are you kidding? This is NC…tobacco is king down here. They give each newborn a pack of cigarettes upon leaving the hospital.
I forgot about that. Bet they’re much cheaper there too.
One is done, the other has till the 18th, and is not very happy about it.
Today’s walk.
Good morning Andi.
I just missed you before you went for you walk this morning. Great picture. I see you’re playing with light again in your pictures.
Yep, still stuck on light. And it’s a good think I like it because it’s so dry there’s nothing much else to take pictures of.
Yep I saw where the rain passes you by. We’re not supposed to get any until next week.
That looks prehistoric.
It’s funny how a slightly different perspective will change how something looks. I’ve walked past this spot literally thousands of times but I just happened to look over at it while standing up from taking another picture and suddenly it looked interesting.
I want to come walk with you. Your woods are gorgeous.
You are welcome to come visit any time. The CBs can camp out and still be within yelling distance. 🙂
Heh. Who said I was bringing the CBs? 😉
You could send them out possum hunting and you and Andi could drink wine on the deck and scratch the dogs. Perfect.
Sounds like you need to come too, though. 🙂
How about another beach meetup? I doubt it could be as hot as last year was.
Crazy summer, I’m afraid. We are doing a bunch of upkeep on the cottage this summer. You know, you could save money next time and come there. No AC, but right on the ocean.
Or we could meet at Andi’s. She loves company.
Of course, you’ll have to discuss the futon-sharing with Sniff.
Say, when did we start these new morning threads? I never saw one before Friday. Have I just missed this all along?
Oh, good morning all.
Morning, boran!
I guess you did; when the regular cafes closed some weeks ago, the morning crowd (what’s left of it) moved to the World Thread – which is now a ‘permanent’ cafe – threads being refreshed around 100 comments (every few days).
And permanent intoxication if there’s any booze left from the old froggybottom.
There’s always booze left. Well that is, if you get to the lounge before George.
There’s been an open/cafe/lounge up since about a week after we retired the FBC. The comments stay around until they hit 80-100 and then CG opens a new one — which takes 2 or 3 days.
And good morning back.
Looks like its gonna be a sunny day. Yey!
Of course, that means I should actually get some work done outside, and it’s not exactly warm now that winter is almost here. Life is filled with such connundrums.
All the wooden posts are set for Luna’s (huge, or for the more numerical – .27 acre) new run and I really should be installing the strainers and cross braces whenever I can – unfortunately, that sounds too much like actual work.
OTOH, it would be nice to get it finished sometime this year.
Hi keres.
The strainers and cross braces can wait. I mean this year is only half way over. You’ve got plenty of time.
Sage words, Sensei.
Ah grasshopper. The world of slackdom is present in us all, only if we’re lazy enough to see. 🙂
Chirrrrruupppp! [sound of legs rubbing together (who knew grasshoppers wore corderoy?)]
Well of course they do when it’s cold outside.
We’ve been getting up into the high 80’s and low 90’s here, and it dry.
Sounds like my version of heaven. Dry heat is the only kind of heat, IMNSHO.
One of these days I’m going to have to spend a few weeks in the Australian Outback, just to get myself properly dessicated again.
Andi,
Very nice place in the image.
It has a calming effect. Was there any sound?
Hey Knucklehead haven’t seen any pictures from you lately.
How have you been doing?
It was early morning so there was quite a bit of bird singing and chirping. Very little wind, though, so the leaves were quiet.
It was so quiet early this morning that I actually HEARD Hopey’s pee soaking into the ground. Now that’s quiet.
Thanks for that audio image. 😉
I aim to please, keres. 🙂 And I never pretended to have any class.
a lot of pee and a very slow perc rate.
And with that image to send me off to dreamland, I guess I’ll go to bed.
Night.
Good morning! How are you this morning?
I finished Thousand Suns yesterday. It was great. Now I’m finishing Blue Shoe by Anne Lamott. 🙂
We have CBtY’s first baseball playoff game tonight…I hope his team wins! They beat the #1 team on Saturday, and this is the #3 team they’re playing tonight, so I think they have a chance.
I’m glad to hear it was good. I hate waiting a bunch of time for a book on reserve and then not have it be good.
Good luck to CBtY!
Good morning Andi and CG!
Blue skies and birds chirping in the backyard.
Good morning, ask.
I’m jealous – we still have overcast skies, but at least it’s not raining.
The forecast is iffy, but not a cloud to be seen.
Good luck in the playoffs; beating the no. 1 team should give them lots of confidence.
I think it did give them a big confidence boost. I was bummed because it was the only game I missed all season.
How is work going this week?
Work itself is OK, but some office politics I could be without. But – vacation in 2.5 weeks 🙂
One of my favorite things about working from home is the lack of office politics. I still hear all the gossip, but never have to deal with the day-to-day garbage from people.
I’m glad your vacation is long enough to give you a nice rest from the office politics. Plus, it looks like such a great place to relax and kick back with family.
I used to have to put up with office politics and hated it. I never understood why everyone just couldn’t work together to get the job done. It finally dawned on me, there are asses everywhere and you gotta work with some of them sometimes.
I’m ready for ask to take his vacation too. I want pictures. 🙂
Yeah, it definitely makes it easier when everybody thinks they’re playing on the same team at work.
I second the call for pictures. 🙂
I even third that on pictures from ask. 🙂
I’m looking into a broadband wireless service for the cabin.
But the modem is $350 and weekly (unlimited) usage is $25(pay only the weeks when in use). I might get the siblings to chip in (we share the cabin, but none of them are quite as addicted as I).
..there are asses everywhere..
We have a couple of unprincipled ones in high positions – that’s my battle and it’s nasty. They are quick to abuse their power and then cover up for each other.
Yuk.
I had a boss one time that took an instant dislike to me when he first arrived. That plus he was trying to get every female in the office into bed, made for a really horrible work place. One of the women in the office got mad at me, and the boss took it as his mission to get me fired. Luckily for me the boss started getting in to trouble with his boss and his credibility was lost.
I’ve had some really excellent bosses and some really bad ones. Since I was in the military, and back then you moved just about every two years, I always took the outlook of either I put in to go somewhere else right away, or I outlast them. I did both over my career.
but it’s just starting to get light so I’m not sure how blue the sky is. But I’m glad it’s getting light earlier so I can start my walks sooner.
… which is my segue into saying “See ya”.
Good morning Andi, CG and ask.
I overslept again today. Wait…. I’m retired I can’t oversleep.
Good morning, FM!
Take the nap whenever you can.
Hi ask.
I never pass a nap by. That would be sacrilegious to everything I believe. 🙂
Good morning all. Yet more rain predicted here today in the Hudson Valley. (and humid conditions) Madame boran is recuperating nicely from her foot surgery.
Good morning Boran.
I didn’t know Madame Boran had surgery. Best wishes and speedy recovery to her.
I’ll take some of you’re rain. We’re still in heavy drought conditions down here.
Thanks, FM. It was same day surgery but the hobbling around goes on for days.
You’re welcome to all the rain you want. 😉
I’m sure once the hurricanes start hitting the gulf coast, I’ll get all the rain I want. We definitely need it.
Is Madame Boran on crutches? I hated using those.
She’s using a cane right now.
I hope she’s (literally) back on both feet soon.
What CG said. I wished I had thought of that. 🙂
Thanks. Her bone spur is now behind her, figuratively speaking.
Got a new mattress yesterday….way too fancy and expensive. No divot in the middle. Couldn’t sleep. Ugh.
but isn’t today O-Day? Maybe you’re just too excited to sleep.
Good morning Andi and SN.
Hope you’re doing well Andi and SN get some sleep. 🙂
Morning FM.
It’s kinda cold here — 52. I like that way better than hot but I’m sure it won’t last.
I just checked our weather and it’s 62 right now, but we’re supposed to get up to 95 this afternoon. To hot to do anything, and I was so looking forward to doing the lawn today. 🙂
It’s supposed to be in the 90s the next two days. Ick.
I thought even if it was 35 it was still too hot for you to do anything.
Any temperature or weather condition is always too much for me to do lawn work. 🙂
Plus I must have the SN syndrome, because I didn’t sleep a wink last night either.
Maybe you should go take a nap before FMom is ready for breakfast.
It’s almost light enough to walk, gotta go get dressed.
Ta.
To late about FMom. She’s up already.
Enjoy your walk.
Good morning all. 52 degrees here, a nice respite, but likely a brief one. madame boran hobbled off to work today, first time since foot surgery last friday. I’m sure there will be lots of expletives deleted today in her conversations.
Good morning Boran.
If I were Madame Boran, I would be milking this for everything I could get. You would be run ragged. 🙂
What makes you think that hasn’t been happening for the last 5 days?
LOL now I don’t know which one of you to feel more sorry for.
Good morning, Andi!
Busy Welcome Wagon last night…
This cafe looks like it needs renovation as well.
Good morning ask and Andi.
give me a second on that new cafe…
