Anybody around?
Morning CG.
I’m still waiting on the first cup of coffee.
How are you today?
Sleepy. Too much late tv-watching last night.
Coffee sounds good, although I think i’m going to try to sneak in another half-hour of sleep before I have any.
Have I mentioned how much I’m looking forward to school being over so I get a break from CBtY’s Monday Morning Blues?
Yes I think you have mentioned that. 🙂
I’ve never seen the “The Sopranos” but I see on the news the ending was a disappointment.
I loved it. Picture the Roman Collosseum with half the audience thirsting for blood and the other half for peace. TVland holds us spellbound.
When we were younger and less sophisticated, happily ever after was a satisfactory ending. For some reason, those days are gone. Guess we’re just too bored with life going on and on.
Good morning, CG and FM!
What a great day out (just back in) – I think of taking off!
Morning ask.
It’s nice outside at the moment here too. See ya later.
where the big cry-baby already wishes she was home.
Good morning Andi!
Just can’t see you as a cry-baby. A whiner maybe. 🙂
I think she’s a pouter and a foot-stamper.
I don’t watch the Sopranos either – waaaay too violent for me – what happened?
Not a pouter — way too subtle.
Morning.
Good morning, traveler. So you’re not denying the foot stamper.
Hope you’re at least in a pretty spot where you can take a walk when you’re not in the BCROD.
Well I’m in a spot with sidewalks so I can take a walk but that’s about it. There’s an exercise room with a treadmill so I can put out an effort without going anywhere but that’s too much like what I’ll be doing all day so it doesn’t have much appeal either (see, not a pouter, definitely a crybaby).
Yes, the treadmill as metaphor for life. I’m familiar with this concept. 🙂
Yeah, I wish it wasn’t such an effing great one.
I actually prefer the hamster wheel.
All 3 of the boys (ok, the oldest is 25 – not a boy) played basketball together last night and I enjoyed the hell out of watching them tease and smack each other around. Next time I have to remember my camera.
Well I got off the treadmill, and now I guess I’m on a trampoline. It does have its ups and downs.
You’d bounce much higher if you could get all your family members off the trampoline with you. They’re stealing your bounce.
Good point. When the boys are playing basketball you don’t need a camera, you need a movie camera.
Morning SN.
From what the news showed, it just went black at the end. Didn’t answer a lot of questions, I suppose.
I think whiny crybaby sounds pretty good.
But I’ll put on a brave face while in the BCROD*.
* Beige Conference Room of Death
Yep, but you’ve been through the BCROD many time, so I know you’ll handle this one with ease.
And now I know what to do if it has ants. 😉
That’s a maybe. I’m looking up other stuff too. 🙂
And after you conquer the ants, it’ll be on to snake repellent!
I doubt that highly. Ants don’t come at you. If anything they’re trying to get away from you. Snakes on the other hand…….
What’s with the ants and snakes? And why is Andi going into conference with them? I’m soooo confused.
Hi keres.
Andi leaves me confused most of the time. I’ve got the problems with snakes and ants, and Andi has the beige conference room hell starting today.
OK. That’s lots clearer.
For ants, the only thing that really works is to get a bait that the workers will carry back to the queen and thus kill the whole hill. Boric acid (available as a powder at most welding supply stores) mixed with peanut butter will atract both sugar and fat feeding species.
As for snakes, you have to get rid of whatever they are feeding on. If it’s mice, break out the mice traps. If it’s grasshoppers, then go to the garden center and get the stuff that infects grasshoppers (can’t remember what it’s called, but the nursery types should know). If it’s frogs, then you are out of luck – I don’t give out frog killing advice.
I’m going to do that boric acid thing. Mice we don’t have any – Cat inside and Tom outside.
Snakes are fine as long as they don’t come up to the house.
And I would never ever hurt a frog. 🙂
Cats keeping down the mice population is the best solution I’ve ever found to keeping snakes away from the house. Sounds like you have that one covered.
Boric acid is relatively harmless to larger critters (you’d have to ingest lots of it) but fairly deadly to insects. You can use it as a deterant by sprinkling it around the areas you think the ants are getting in. Persistant ants usually just find another route, thus my rather “nuclear” recomendation above.
I need to go get my thoughts and body together.
Have a good (or at least have a better one than me).
See ya Andi. Hope your day goes fast.
Good morning all. Mondays are hard and I need to go back to sleep. The boran2boy had me up in the middle of the night to come into our bed. Did he have a bad dream? No, he says that he just wanted to sleep by me.
Good morning Boran.
Sorry for the non-sleep, but soon enough he’ll stop doing that.
Good morning, FM. I’m of 2 minds about it, it’s cute but leaves me tired. How are things by you?
I’m doing fine, but still trying to wake up.
I know the “it’s cute” thing, but soon enough he’ll get to the point where he’s too big for that. I used to always complain about my youngest daughter wanting to sleep with us. She would always push up against my back and I would be on the edge of the bed. I had more than one nightmare I was falling off a cliff. 🙂
Gotta go and get the house cleaned, so the family can start messing it up again. A never ending cycle.
Everyone have a good day in the pond.
Good morning all.
Still dark here, everybody is asleep, but I do have my first cup of coffee.
Good morning, FM!
The birds are chirping here.
I think the birds are still asleep here.
Not to long until vacation time, is it?
No, it’s coming up nice and quickly – just about a week and a half.
What do slackers do for vacation?
Hah! Pretty much what we do when we’re not on vacation. 🙂
Than again, to a slacker, everyday is a vacation.
I could easily adjust to that…
Well it does get a little boring every now and then, but when you’re a dedicated slacker, you put up with it for the cause. 🙂
ONly 4 more mornings of getting CBtY up for school…can’t wait. 🙂
till getting at this time will be sleeping late. 🙁
Hiya.
How’s the beige conference room from hell going?
Well I suppose the important thing is that it’s going — progress is being made but it’s an exhausting and somewhat stressful week for everybody.
Got a baseball game this week?
Are you there all day Friday too?
We had the last game on Saturday; this week is the end-of-season BBQ at the coach’s house. And Monday is the last day of school!
Why they picked a Monday, I’ll never know.
I fly home Friday mornning — so at least there’s a reason to be up early.
BBQ sounds like fun (well ,not to me but I’m sure it does to the kids on the team).
I bet the dogs will be delighted to see you…and Jim too. 🙂 Do you have a direct flight?
The BBQ should be okay. They give the coach a gift, some of the players get recognized, and CBtY was the biggest fundraiser for their team, so he gets a little something on Saturday too. I think he also led the league in HBPs…
Congrats to CBtY. The BBQ should be fun.
Hey if it gets you on base (and the bruises aren’t too bad) …
No direct flight — I’m flying out of San Jose because it’s so much easier (and there was only 1 direct flight to and from SFO anyway).
He doesn’t mond the bruises…it’s the trip to the hospital for a CAT scan of his sinuses and orbital bone that freaked him out (that hit left stitch marks on his cheek).
Only 4 more days of the beige conference room. 🙂
See above.
I see that keres is helping you out with the ants.
Yep, I’m going to try out her boric acid suggestion today.
Morning CG.
Counting down the days I see. 🙂
Yep. I’m tired of playing ‘sock hunt’ every morning.
Ah such a good mother. FMom would have told me, they’re your socks, find them. 🙂
That’s what I say too…it’s the slow response that I find annoying. 🙂
Back in my school days when I could really sleep, FMom had a hell of a time getting me up. She never did find a solution, and thus, I became the champion napper I am today. 🙂
FMom and great Nephew are up and hungry. Gotta go.
Have a good day in the pond.
Good Morning!!!! Hope everyone in the pond is doing well. I wanted to post some pictures of the Diva Dogs to let you know that we are all doing fine. I appreciate the love and support from everyone. I am working on finding a job and all that good stuff and moving along one day at a time. Anyone that wants to contact me can through my screen name at gmail.com. Sorry, I forgot to let people know my austin.rr email accout was going away. LOL
Today I am going to an event where I will get to meet John Edwards. I am so excited!!!!! This is the shirt I will be wearing. I will take a magic marker and get John to sign the shirt for me!!!!
John Edwards For President 2008
I am also taking two coffee mugs with this design
AMERICA LOVES ELIZABETH EDWARDS
and some of these
VOTE EDWARDS
to give John for him and Elizabeth.
here is a better one of Bette
I am so glad I caught your comment! The Divas look well and you sound good – hope you have a chance to diary about your meeting with Edwards. Take care.
Glad to hear things are on the upswing with you. John Edwards would be wise to get you onto his campaign staff!
Hiya Refinish.
I’m glad you got a chance to drop by and let us know how things are going. Hope the upcoming job interview goes well, and things start to level out for you soon.
Take care.
I’m so glad to see pictures of the Diva Dogs and to know all of you are doing okay. Good luck on the job hunt.
How is beige hell going?
and going and going and …
Well soon enough it will just be a memory. But until it is – you poor thing. 🙂
Since I’m at the stage where if it’s going to be a memory, it’s going to be forgotten, it’s “soon enough it will be written down”.
You’re still up? Color me impressed. 🙂
Time difference CG, time difference. She probably feels like it’s 8:30.
Night.
I’m on the west coast so nothing to be impressed about. The fact that you are still up and still have a child to send off to school tomorrow — now that’s impressive.
Since I didn’t understand a word you said, and it’s way past my bedtime, I’ll bid ya good night.
Hope the beige hell passes swiftly tomorrow.
Good morning all. T-storms predicted here, a welcome thing if the humidity will go away.
Hiya Boran.
It’s 97 here, but the humidity is only 29%. At least we’re getting a break with that. Hope your thunderstorm comes through and when you get a chance, send some down here.
Good morning one and all.
It’s still 0-dark-30 here and in the low 70’s. It’s gonna get hot today.
Good morning, FM!
Lots of rain, thunder and lightening last night – so we have a pleasant, cool(er) morning.
We’re still pretty dry around here. We’ve had a no burn order out for about 3 weeks now. You know, it gets pitiful when you’re looking forward to the hurricane season just for the rain.
Not too much longer until vacation time, isn’t it?
Well, I hope you get much needed precipitation without having to deal with a hurricane.
10 days till departure.
Yep I’m hoping the same thing. If I had my way, we would have a mini-drought only on my lawn. No water and the grass won’t grow.
Hope these 10 days pass fast for you.
Oh, they will go fast – lots to do.
Must get going now.
See ya ask. Have a swift day.
Good morning, ask and FM.
3 more days…next I’ll have to break it down into hours.
Good morning CG.
When you get down to seconds, then you’ll be really counting. 🙂
How are you today?
Not bad. Have a new set of projects to work on today, spending some time at the library this afternoon, finding a new home for my 2 older chickens, etc.
How about you? Having fun with the nephew?
Still dark here in Sunnyvale but that’s okay because there’s nothing to see.
Nothing to see in Sunnyvale? Do they at least have some decent food in that area?
The “downtown” has a two-block area that is literally wall-to-wall restaurants. And if we want to go upscale and spend some “real money” we can head over to Palo Alto.
Usually when I was on trips for business, I would splurge one night, and the rest of the time spend as little as possible.
I’m not big on fancy places where service is slow and dinner takes forever when all I want is to get some decent food and then crash. I’m with someone on this trip but he’s pretty much like me and there’s a reasonable choice of pleasant, good restaurants.
At least you got a break on your co-worker. I can understand the wanting to get back to the room and crashing. Well obviously I can understand crashing anywhere/anytime. 🙂
Good morning all. Another overcast day here in paradise. Enough intermittent rain already. NY is the new Florida.
Good morning Boran.
Paradise with cloud cover huh. Sounds a little bit un-paradisey. 🙂
I can send you some if you like. Rain that is. 😉
Rain? Rain? What’s that?
Hi Andi. At least you’ve got your a/c in conference room hell. 😉
Yes and I wouldn’t know if it was raining anyway.
But the lack of rain I am really bemoaning is at home. We’ve been without rain for about 6 weeks.
Wow, I’m hoping that’s only cyclical.
It’s definitely unusual — this april-may-june are normally the wettest months. A lot of farmers are going to be in trouble if something doesn’t happen soon.
And this is one of the few times in all the years we’ve lived in the woods that I’m worried about fires.
The great Nephew is up and hungry. Gotta go.
Everyone have a good day in the pond.
