The Grizzly Marmot?
I was trying to sneak it in there when everyone was busy with the Welcome Wagon. 🙂
Clean premises!
What’s this image; trying to install more fear in us? 😉
I just thought it might liven the place up a little…
Ever watch a Marmot? They ain’t exactly “lively” critters. Not so bad as a sloth, mind, but they could teach FM a thing or fifty about slacking, if they could be bothered….
Darn, the marmotzilla picture had me thinking they were a little more adventurous than FM. 🙂
Not so much, no.
On the other hand, if you want to liven the place up…
George here is pretty good at that, most of the time.
there’s a reason, stormkite…rocky mtn. tea one up time…
……….ahhhhh………
fm who?

clik images for info
I love that picture!
Evening, everyone. 🙂
Hi!
Sorry for the drive-by greeting. I’m so excited about a fresh lounge that I lost my head.
Check your email.
Woah, massive marmot, Dude. Wait, what did you say you put in the hookah?
So, this is where everyone went.
Good morning!
We’re beyond YAHD. Is everyone sleeping in this morning?
Good morning!
I’m just putting together a news bucket, and thanking god that we only have 2 more days of school after today.
9 days till your vacation, now?
Hi CG!
No school = more mayhem at home, no? 🙂
Yes, we’re counting down. Making arrangements for mobile internet access at the summer cabin, but my technical advisor (b-i-l) alerted me to a coverage map that indicates iffy reception at the exact location. Calling service provider today for more info.
Hi all. I’m having a quiet Thursday evening at home – alone. Anyone care to entertain me?
Good evening, keres!
Not much entertainment from here, we’re getting ready to head out shortly.
Hope you have a good book for company.
I just finished “The Omnivore’s Dilemma” – which I’d highly recommend. I have yet to pick out a new title, which leaves me with web surfing until Imogen gets home.
I just read ‘A Thousand Splendid Suns’ and enjoyed it. I’m now on Thirteen Moons, by the author of Cold Mountain, and next on the list is A Long Way GOne, by Ishmael Beah.
That last one is a heart breaker.
CBtE’s been reading (I read the first couple of chapters before letting him have it while I read something else), and it is amazing to me that someone could live through that and go on with his life in such a positive way. Truly inspiring.
No school = happy cabin
Good luck with the internet access. Our beach rental doesn’t have it either , although you can bike ride to the library and sit on their porch to use the wireless.
Going home tomorrow but I decided to take advantage of the wifi to play with Google Earth — what a lot of fun. The dark spot is house roof, white one is the barn, and, pretty impressively, the spot of blue is the cover over the firewood )
I see Jim waving!
It’s the driveway length that’s really impressive. 🙂
It’s really wide too. 🙂
Here’s the entire driveway (s=start, e=end)
Since we are Google Earthing – here’s our place.
The white is our boundries and the blue is the rivulet.
Good morning all, gotta run, be back shortly.
Come on down
Did everybody oversleep today?
12 more hours of the school year left…woo-hoo!
Up since 5.30.
Need to get in early today, but TFSMIF.
I overslept. CBtY is delighted, since it means he gets to ease into his day before I drive him down to school.
No. It’s almost my bedtime, though.
Just checking in to see if the giant groundhog has made any gains on the fleeing masses.
Hi keres! Loved the aerial view of your place upthread.
My boys think that picture is hysterical, btw.
What you don’t get from the aerial view is just how steep most of our place is. There’s hardly a flat spot anywhere. While this makes a game of croquet impossible, it also makes many varied micro-climes and lots more plants and animals as a result.
Too bad our neighbors on the left have mostly denuded their lots. We’ve planted stands of native trees along that side in order to give ourselves a bit more privacy. We’re also seriously considering trying to buy the parcel on the right side of our house. It would add another 2 and a half acres or so to our 14.5.
Good morning everyone.
I’ve had a rough couple of days from my dental procedure earlier this week, so I haven’t been around much. Feeling better today though.
I hope everyone is doing fine. Last day of the work week, last day of school. Yee haw!
Sorry you’ve been feeling so lousy. We missed you. 🙂
Big plans today?
No plans at all. The relatives finally left yesterday and it’s finally quiet. A total slack day today. 🙂
Hi FM. I hope you feel better soon.
Hi keres and thanks.
I’m off to the library shortly to get some work done.
Good morning all. Hope you feel better, FM. Dentists, ugh. I recently had a very deep cavity done, below the gum line, a very miserable experience. And yet they say lawyers are disliked. Hmm.
Hi Boran.
I’ve had some good dentist, but the last 3 I’ve tried seemed to be the bottom of the barrel pick.
Hopefully the next time I pick a dentist, I’ll get lucky.
Statistically speaking, you are due for a good one.
I would hope so. Now if I can get that dark cloud from over my head to stop following me everywhere. 🙂
“No more teacher’s dirty lo…” Opps, I’m a teacher.
Let summer begin!!!!!!!! That is if we survive that marmot attack.
Congratulations!
We have Monday morning yet to go, and them it’s OVER!!!!
Can’t come fast enough.
Monday morning? Yuck!
Did you send flowers to the retiring principal?
Nah, I think CBtY is going to wear his BooTrib shirt on Monday to say goodbye, though. 🙂
There’s an, um, interesting interchange in these comments, here.
One good thing: With all the garbage that has gone on at school this year, I used to wonder if I was crazy because of the way the administration treated me. Now I know that it isn’t me that’s crazy…
Wow! That’s quite an exchange. The family certainly did not like having its apple cart upset. It sucks to find out that Daddy isn’t perfect.
Hi Toni.
I agree with you. I just got through reading all of it.
One more week here, all half daze. Doesn’t make it easier on us parents. Have a good summer, and watch out for giant marmots.
Half days are tough for parents. High schools do it for exams. I can’t think of a good reason for elementary or middle schools to have 1/2 days during the last week – except maybe the last day.
It’s Friday afternoon – the weekend needs to arrive quicker! I’m going fishing with my folks in the White Mountains
taj….
enjoy, wish l’s goin’ w/ ya
lTMF’sA
Good stuff, d. Thanks for sharin’!
It’ll be nice to get out of this effing heat. There should be a 30-40 degree different in climate. Can’t wait
..the weekend needs to arrive quicker!
Hah! I slipped out at 4; now at curly’s with open brew in front of me.
To someone going fishing in Norway, we say skitt fiske – which translates to – surprise, surprise – ‘shitty fishing!’
More positive wishes would prevent any catch.
Jealousy abounds – I still have 2 hours and 13 minutes (not that I’m counting).
Love the ‘break a leg’-type phrase. Of course, there are some instances where you’d want to prevent a catch
Great graphics, is there a whole collection?
dunno, was going through my photobucket archives and came across those gems that I had snagged in March of 05 🙂
You lost me with “That’s the way (uh huh uh huh)I like it.”
Don’t blame me, blame my iPod Overlord.
So much for Marvin Gaye setting the mood under the direst of circumstances 😉
Not even the smoothness of Marvin Gaye could sustain the mood through KC and the Sunshine Band.
Noted in a duly way, will plot to make it up to you next week for FRT O:)
Don’t pay any attention to SN Manny. You’ve got a good ten up there.
hi FM, thx. hope you’re feeling better!
(Bud has made his weekly appearance now, sorry for slacking last week)
I’ll drop right over and say hi to Bud.
Hey I preach slacking, so when you get to slack, I’m happy.
The tooth, or lack of, is feeling better. But I’m on the search for a new dentist.
So I read. I loathe the dentist so I know just where you’re coming from. Glad the toothless cavern is feeling better.
I don’t loathe dentist, just the bad ones. Which seem to be my picks as of late.
It’s a generational thing; it was probably published before he was born; thus excusable.
Yes and thank you. hehe
B.T.Express – how appropriate!
Here’s a very different Tell Me Why.
And here’s the original of that one by Bronski Beat from 1984 (which was simply called ‘Why’) – on the problems of gay love in Britain.
My random (shuffle) 10 today:
When I was looking through this list and saw
Vallåt Från Jämtland – Jan Johansson
How did I know it was ask’s list before I even got to the bottom. 🙂
But, but it’s Swedish.
Oh OK. The only way I knew were those little circles and squiggly things on top. 🙂
The Swedish have these additional letters (vowels) in the alphabet
compared to the English one: ä, ö, å
Denmark and Norway: æ, ø, å
ask I have a hard enough time with English. Anytime I get out of the South, I have to start speaking a different type of English so people will understand me.
I’ve sent a few friend to this site so they can learn my language.
Glossary of Southern Dialect and Expressions:
That’s a great page.
Got through the a’s, and bookmarked.
That’s great. So if we ever meet, you’ll be able to understand me. 🙂
Ha, didn’t pick up on the BT thing till you mentioned it, thx for those other offerings too!
I really do love the Marmotzilla pic, gives me a chuckle every time I open this thread.
An audiovisual Random Three. It’s only three ‘cuz these really are the songs I’ve had stuck in my head all week. I’m providing a link so that you, lucky souls that you are, can get them stuck in your heads as well.
Chick Habit – April March (click on “Chick Habit” on the Standalone Player)
Re:Your Brains – Jonathan Coulton
Nessun Dorma – Pavarotti
and best of all, I didn’t have to listen to Jim Nabors sing it.
Good morning, Andi!
Good to see you back.
Jim Nabors?
I guess New Yorkers aren’t up on certain Midwestern traditions.
Thanks for the warning.
I found a clip on YouTube.
Glad to be of service. And glad for a change that I’m on dial-up — no way I can play that clip. 😉
Good morning Andi and ask.
Glad to see you got home ok Andi.
And don’t be downing Gomer. He’s an AL native. 🙂
Welcome home! Have you already een for your walk this morning?
Morning CG.
How’s your w/e going so far?
Not bad. CBtY made a cake for the coach’s end-of-season get-together this afternoon, and since the boys are off to their dad’s today, we need to think of a Father’s daay something for him. CBtE wants to take him to the movies. Sounds easy enough.
I like the “sounds easy enough.” Very slackerly IMHO. 🙂
Would I be a bad person if I said it correlates with his level of parental involvement?
You enjoying the lack of company this morning?
Just got back from the walk. It’s really dry out there but I don’t care — it was very, very lovely.
I can’t ever imagine you being a bad person. 🙂
Thoroughly enjoying it. Only problem is I have to go get more groceries today. They’re like locust when they visit.
I read about your dental adventures — my sympathies.
Morning Andi and thanks.
Glad you’re back home safe and sound. I guess it’s a brief break from beige hell.
I’ve got a quick trip Thursday a.m. to Friday p.m. and then I hope I’ll be beige free for a good while.
I’m glad to hear that. Those beige rooms do strange things to people. 🙂
Nice and cool this morning but heading back up into the nineties. Wake me in October, will ya?
CG – my kids are dreading even calling their dad tomorrow…we couldn’t send a card because we don’t know his address. I got yer parental involvement….,right here!
If they don’t show any involvement at all, then why even go to the trouble?
So we can say we did someday when he whines about how I’ve ruined his life.
Morning, FM. No houseguests and your mouth is feeling better. I’d say it’s a great weekend for you and FMom.
Yep it’s starting to shape up to be a very slackerly w/e.
As I said earlier, the only thing I’ve got to do is get groceries.
Are you going to head over to the ocean to escape the heat?
I can’t believe I haven’t been to the beach in two years. We’re going over the Fourth.
Glad you’re back home.
It’s funny how things can be so close and we don’t take advantage of them. We live 20 miles away from one of the top music schools in the country with great concerts by fantastic students and world-renown musicians (profs) and we hardly ever go.
I think that about the Cleveland Museum of Art and the Cleveland Orchestra, both of which I saw maybe 3 or 4 times in my life, and they’re among the best in the world.
I’ve just been so damn HOT lately, the beach doesn’t seem inviting. Fans do. AC does.
It’s hot here too but more worrying is how dry it is. It’s pretty unusual when we have to worry about forest fires but I think we’ll have to this year.
it’s such a pain, isn’t it?
I think we need a new thread, but I’m afraid to kill off the conversatios here…shall we put up a separate w/e FBC diary, or should I just post a new thread here?
I’ll see ya’ll later. George is whinning and I’ve got the kitchen to clean.
Have a good day in the pond.
