McDermott: Was McKay fired because of efforts to solve Wales slaying?
WASHINGTON — Rep. Jim McDermott, backed by the five other Washington congressional Democrats, called on the Justice Department Friday to investigate allegations that former U.S. Attorney John McKay’s aggressive efforts to solve the slaying of a federal colleague contributed to his abrupt dismissal last year.
Tom Wales was actively investigating gun-running cases when he was murdered. It is really important to know if gun runners have influence within the Dept. of Justice.
Of all the firings, this one is most intriguing, IMHO. Somebody knows, we just have to get ’em singing. That the Wales case remains unsolved at this late date suggests it was the work of someone who is protected. Truth has a way of bubbling to the surface, but it can take its time getting there. I’ll give this whole story 20 years to be opened up.
