Good morning
Good morning! I tried going back to sleep, but it just isn’t happening this morning.
It’s probably because FM hasn’t been around to set the proper tone for napping.
The Pack insists that the actual proper tone to set is for walking. They say not only is it time for me to go but you ought to, too.
Ta.
It’s bedtime here. Luna’s been in most of the evening because of a light rain outside. I hope this doesn’t mean she’ll want out in the middle of the night. With any luck it will rain all night (and the dog won’t want to go out in it, which will require much toweling when she wants to come back in).
Imogen’s back tomorrow. Yay!
I’ve got to make an early parts run to Hobart, so that I can have the bathroom ceiling re-wired before she gets home. I know, other people get flowers for their sweeties – I get building materials.
‘Night all.
Hi keres (if you aren’t already asleep).
I’m glad Imogen’s coming back tomorrow…and I think it’s cool that you want to have things re-wired as a surprise when she gets home.
We’re having a high humidity day here…it feels like WE need toweling off when we come inside from the heat.
Morning All!!! I hope everyone is doing fine. I am keeping busy looking for work and as you might have noticed started back blogging a bit. Here is my latest podcast

Good afternoon all! It’s absolutely disgusting here in the Valley, very hot and humid.
It’s positively swampy, isn’t it?
Yeah, it’s actually dificult to breathe.
When you walk outside it’s like hitting a wall …
Currently, it’s 91F but 106F w/ the humidity.
It’s awful.
We’ve got a light rain happening and it looks like it’s been going all night. Yay, I don’t have to order water just yet (which saves us a hundred bucks). I love free water.
My appologies to all of you with humidity. I hate humidity with a passion.
so good evening instead.
Glad you got that rain. It looks like we have ended our 7 week dry spell with around 1-1/2 inches of rain over the last five days.
Good morning Andi and good evening keres.
We had rain all around, but none here. We kept hearing thunder, but it just passed us by.
Morning Andi, FM, and keres!
We got a hug thunderstorm with torrential downpour and winds last night…I’m hoping it clears up the humidity for today.
Rafting and bouldering are on the agenda for CBtE and CBtY today…
Rafting sounds like fun, but I’m not so sure about bouldering. Got a thing about heights.
I think they’re fairly low. They’re in my favorite park.
They would have to be very low for me. That’s hard to believe that’s a city park. It looks really good.
When CBtE was small, I lived a few blocks from one end of it…which of course saved me from going crazy living in the city. We were over there all the time.
When I lived in Wiesbaden, GE I used to walk down to the Rhine river every afternoon. It was about a mile one way. I always walked through this park by the Rhine that had a very large pond in it with a small castle on an island. I used to love that walk, but it had one draw back. You really had to watch where you put your feet. I don’t know if it has changed, but back then the sidewalks and paths were fair game for dog owners to let their dogs do their business.
Hi (and bye), everyone!
Left this comment in the Welcome Wagon.
Time for asklet and me to head back to cabin.
Hi/bye ask.
Hope ya’ll are having a good time.
Morning, FM!
Yup, vacation can be recommended.
Imageshack continues tto be non-cooperative, so I quickly signed up for Photobucket instead:
Here’s the cabin, a couple of hours ago:
Morning ask.
The cabin looks great and I’m sure you and the asklets are having a great time. I’m hoping on vacation you’re getting some quality slacking time.
It appears everyone is up early today, so I’ve got to get started.
Everyone have a good day in the pond.
Take a look at this site it’s hillarious! We all need to laugh, right? Right?! Laugh, dammit!
cats that look like Hitler
Bwahhahhahha! Too funny.
Oh come on, if you really need an emergency laugh, I suggest large doses of Go Fug Yourself
but this website has some amazing chalk art from Julian Beever.
I love the ones where he incorporates the walls and steps along the sidewalk into the pictures.
Good afternoon, little froggies!
or crouched knee … or maybe gorilla pod. Whatever it is, I really like the perspective!
… and long w/e to the Cdn peeps.
It’s both wet belly and gorillapod. 🙂
I was thinking of subtitling it “how a fern sees the world”.
And Happy Canada Day.
Good morning Andi and Olivia.
Very nice perspective as Olivia said Andi.
We’ve had rain for the 5 days out of 8. Is your dryspell still going on?
(and thanks)
Yep it’s still dry. There will be small showers here and there, but they seem to keep missing us most of the time. I’ve got to get out and take some picture of the pond because you can see it’s starting to loose water like last year.
You need to get and take some pictures of the pond from the other side. 😉
Yeah I know, but it just seems like such a long walk over there. 🙂
Well if you just take a long nap snuggled up in your exquisite sheets, I’m sure you’ll be up for a leisurely stroll. 😛
I don’t know. I hardly ever want to get out of bed anyway, but now I’m finding it even more difficult to get up in the morning. 🙂
Now you see my problem, FM. The french press coffee awaits you.
Morning SN.
Andi said something profound over at my place about unfiltered coffee. Something about higher levels of LDL cholesterol in unfiltered coffee. I think I’ll stick with my Mr. Coffee. 🙂
…of course, being the health-conscious chain smoker that you are. 🙂
Morning, FM. Do you sleep naked now so you can enjoy the sheets?
Good morning, froggies. The thunderstorms are to move out of the area shortly. Much needed relief for plants and humidity haters alike.
Good morning Boran.
Not use to the heat and humidity? Welcome to my world. 🙂
I saw your snow sculpture over at your blog, and I was just wishing we would get a few flakes down here this year.
Take all you like! 😉
Morning B2. Hope you can some rain. Getting several days worth after 7 weeks of nothing have really perked up all the growing things here.
And I guess I need to take that as a clue that I should perk up about work.
See ya.
Have a good day, Andi!
Gotta go. Looks like the family is up and stirring around.
Have a good day in the pond.
Gay Pride- Then, Now and Everyday
Hope everyone is doing great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good morning everyone.
They’re predicting maybe some rain for us today, and the relatives are leaving today also. It might turn out to be a good day.
I have 5 relatives (3 of whom are boys between the ages of 11 and 16) and two dogs coming to visit today (and to stay overnight). Your forbearance all these years is going to be my inspiration.
5 relatives at once at your house. Now I do know the world is coming to an end.
Just remember the immortal words, “You know where it is, go and get it”. 🙂
Unlike you, I have a small house and the downstairs is basically one big room so where everything is is pretty obvious. That’s the good news, the bad news is the house is small and the downstairs is basically one big room — no place to hide.
(How unprepared are we for having crowds stay over — well, we had to tell my sister to bring towels with her because we don’t have enough.)
Unlike you, I can always sneak away to my room and forget everybody. 🙂
How long are they supposed to be there for?
Just overnight. I can’t decide which is scarier — the 3 boys or having 5 dogs inside my house.
If it’s just overnight, then it should be fun. Just sit back and watch the boys and dogs go crazy.
Overnight for me is like 2 weeks for you but I’m working on having a good attitude by the time they get here.
Which reminds me, I need to go to do a bunch of stuff before they do.
See ya.
See ya and I hope you all have a good time.
My sister just called to say that one kid and one dog are sick and that they won’t be over so now I’m feeling disappointed. Go figure.
Call your sister back and tell her to make up for it, that they can stay for a week. 🙂
Fortunately, work would make that impossible for all us (except Jim).
That’s a bummer. You get yourself all ready for your visitors, and now they’re staying home.
Of course, for me the upside would be a clean house and good food all to myself…
But I have enough good food for 5 extra people and there’s no way some of it isn’t just going to go to waste. 🙁 (To quote my mother: gripes my soul to throw away good food.)
And it was supposed to somewhat sunny today but it’s really overcast. Ah well, I think I’ll go take the dogs out for a consolation walk.
See ya.
If you lived closer I’d be able to offer you a solution that includes dogs and boys. 🙂
Have fun on your walk! I think my walk is waiting till later this afternoon.
I don’t know if anyone else is having trouble, but when I hit ROBO-RATER, it doesn’t do anything.
I don’t know what’s going on with mine, but it just goes to a blank page and stays there. I re-installed it and re-started, but still the same thing.
Maybe it will start working later.
It just worked for me too.
How are you this morning, FM?
I don’t know what’s going on with it, but I’ll just keep trying.
I’m doing OK this morning. How’s your day started out so far?
It’s nice…I slept in, only CBtY and I are up, and I’m snjoying a nice cappuccino and reading up on what’s been happening in the world.
The fellas go off with their dad later this morning, so I’m thinking about what I want to do with my ‘free’ time later.I have a little work to do, but I really want to get outdoors and maybe do some cooking later.
Sounds like you can have a nice slackerly day if you want to. Go for it. 🙂
I’m head out now to try and get the relatives up and moving so they’ll maybe leave earlier. 🙂
Good morning Olivia and Happy Canada Day!
Happy Canada day olivia and good morning! Good morning Family Man and Happy Canada day to you as well! The cafe is a bit quiet this morning.
Good morning ID and Happy Canada Day to you as well.
Poutine for everyone!
What are your plans for Canada Day?
Already went for a walk, left on the dance card — deciding if I want to go bike riding, do laundry, sit on the porch and read.
sit on the porch and read
One of my very favorite things to do and I can tourist watch at the same time.
No tourists here, unless you want to count the birds — who do always seem to be going for the food just like the tourists — and chipmunks who do seem to spend most of their time driving the residents (the dogs) crazy.
For some reason I feel laundry isn’t high on the list. 🙂
I don’t mind laundry at all — you throw it in the washer, wait awhile, and then throw it in the dryer, wait some more time, and then spend a couple of minutes folding it. It’s just about the most slackerly household chore there is.
I have to agree with that, plus washing dishes now with a dishwasher.
I got all the laundry done yesterday and today it looks like the lawn will have to be done. Can’t put it off anymore.
Thanks to our earlier dry spell, I’ve been successful in putting off that chore for quite a while. I’ve only done the lawn twice this year. Now that the rains have arrived…
I was able to put it off until I finally got new blades put on yesterday. Now I have no excuse. Well I guess I could find an excuse, but it has gone too long.
I confess that we pay to have our “lawn” mowed — it costs $40 and we have it done every 2-3 weeks. A bargain as far we’re concerned.
I had to pay twice down here when the mower was broken and the guy charged us $60. I thought things were cheaper down here.
Nah, you live in “town” — we country folk are cheap, cheap, cheap.
Heck if I lived in the country, I wouldn’t worry about the lawn at all. I’d get a couple of goats.
I agree. Now if only somoene would fold it and put it away for me…
That’s one of my complaints on laundry. That plus the little ironing I do.
CBs don’t have fingers! 😉
Bile riding is definitely on my dance card for today. The weather is gorgeous, the humidity is low, and the CBs are away for the day.
Need more coffee…
Good morning CabinGirl and thanks for the Julian Beever link the other day. Wow – amazing!
The creativity in those is incredible, isn’t it?
Yesterday morning, while returning home with biscuits & gravy from a nearby cafe, I spotted this unusual scene by the county courthouse. Naturally, I ran home for the camera.
Wow and people think we’re eccentric down here. 🙂
Well, my first thought was of all the hoopla in the MSM back in the 1990’s about the plight of homeless people and how that problem must have been solved, as we don’t hear a peep about it these days.
Maybe someone thinks down and out folks are still around and need a little comfort, but maybe its just my leftie imagination at work.
I didn’t get a clear enough view at first and thought it was a couple there to get married or something.
I think the woman is showing what what happens when you eat too many of the fried biscuits at the Nashville House.
Affectionately nicknamed “belly bombs” by locals in the know.
Well I’m off to the lawn.
Have a good day in the pond.
New brunch cafe opened up here.
