Welcome back.
This week we’ll be continuing with our 5×7 painting of the new Gehry building in New York City. It is seen in the photo directly below.
When last we were together, the painting appeared as it does in the photo directly below.
Since that time I have continued working on the painting.
I have added the two remaining trees, to the right of the first. They have been painted in the same manner, simple shapes with lit and shadowed areas in the same colors as the building behind them. They provide an interesting contrast to the many straight parallel lines of the structure. And that’s about it. I’m done with this one.
The photo of the current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.
That’s it for now, see you next week.
Paint me a picture of your thoughts.
Boran I keep seeing you’re using the 5″ X 7″ canvass. I think it’s time you step up the the 8′ X 10′ size. 🙂
The last one, the used car lot was 10×10 I believe. These little ones are good because there’s not too much area to cover, leaving more time for slacking. 😉
You can’t argue with slack. 🙂
Boran2
I had no idea the canvases were that size.
Isn`t that a lot more difficult to get all the info on that small a canvas?
Or are you using very tiny brushes?
It would seem a regular brush would blot out the previous details, no?
I use these very small canvases from time to time. I find them somewhat easier to use. Placement of the various elements is always the hardest part. It’s more difficult to place properly on a large one beause I get lost in all that space. As to brushes, I used a very tiny one only once or twice on this piece. Blotting out earlier work wasn’t generally a problwm for me.
I laughed at the irony in the last sentence.
I`m glad the law of unintended consequences proved itself.
You couldn`t have made a typo at a funnier place, & if it`s not a typo, I already laughed at your humor.
You win both ways.
Heh, it’s a typo. I’m not nearly clever enough to have done that intentionally.
