Welcome to all the new members of BooTrib, especially our latest member:
My answer to the question: for some reason, I often leave the lights of my vehicle on during the winter in the mornings when I arrive at work. It’s that weird dawn/day time period when I’m apparently too much of a groggy-head to notice. Thankfully, co-workers already know that I’m notorious and alert me to it.
Oh, and I keep forgetting to buy Qtips. This is a problem
I forgot to check my brain at the door. Sorry, I’m grumpy after reading all the “good” news today.
I hear ya, b2. Do you think our bodies will go into shock when he really have something to celebrate? It feels like it’s been a constant drumbeat of outrage with little to no reprieve.
I keep forgeting to tell you to read this
That wall is an affront to every thinking person – it exists as a metaphor far uglier than it physical presence.
Link for the Spanish impaired.
Argentine president Kirchner in the mexican Senate thanked Mexico for opening the doors to argentine citizens fleeing the dirty war. Then he smacks the border wall: He said that it was not only an insult to Mexico but to all the people of Latin America and the world.
He wanted to be very clear about the Argentine position. He begged for those who were building that will of shame to understand that the world has to be driven through other paths: of peace, reconciliation (actually he says “conciliation”) respect of diversity, and respect for the nations of this world.
That is as best as I can translate it.
By the way, La Nacion is a right wing newspaper who represents the upper class.
Oops, this is the link I meant to post.
Thanks Cruz for your translation.
Oh, and for all of you in the heat, it’s 46 degrees here, and raining.
That is what I thought. :0)
Thanks for the Wikinews. Never heard of it before.
thx, cruz.
El muro en la frontera entre México y Estados Unidos es un proyecto de los legisladores republicanos pensado como muestra extrema de su intención de frenar la inmigración ilegal.
unfortunately, the Great Wall™ will be expanded under a Democratically-elected Congress. grrrrr

Routinely check the statistics of visitors to BooMan’s blog, for weeks I’ve seen this entry through a referral of an image I used and links to BooMan’s diary… just creating lots of traffic I guess.
Border collie
"But I will not let myself be reduced to silence."
Amazing how those types of things work out. For my blog, I get lots of hits for this image:
because that picture reminds of what a totalitarian gov’t does to keep people in..not something a country built on democracy.
walls have never worked, don’t know why these people are convinced that this time will be any different.
This time, they’re on a Mission from God.
Every time I see that wall I realize something: I hate myself for being on this side of it. Unfortunately I have family obligations which I cannot avoid or give back, so I’m just stuck for now. I will say this, though…. I will stay not one hour longer than I must, and once gone I will not return while the wall exists.
And someday, I hope, someone will look into a TV camera and say “Mr. Bush, TEAR DOWN THIS WALL.”
hi kite, i can only imagine what you are feeling. everytime i cross over the Gila River to Phoenix or my hometown in rural AZ, the roving fronteras immediately captivate my mind. All the what ifs….
Well, I always . . . that is to say, I never . . . um, no wait, I meant to say . . . what was the question??
There’s a question? π
Of all the things I’ve lost, I miss my mind the most.
I forget to take the list – the one that I’ve written so that I won’t forget to get/do things while I’m in town. Or, if I remember to take my list, I lose it.
Screen capture of Rummy testifying (from C-SPAN).
bwahahahaha – awesome job, keres. everytime i see that gremlin, i think of rummy – thanks for solidifying it π
I’m always leaving the list behind. I need a list of things to bring when I go out.
the trash.
at least that particular chore will let you know when you’ve let it go too long.
forget totake my wallet when l go out
don’t like to keep it in a pants pocket, and l’m always 1/2 mile…or sometimes, much farther…from home when l remember…assumiing of course that l do before it’s problematic.
and lest l forget, take the test and see how your abode rates on the walk score,
and one of manny’s fav bands, ims, is tearing it up on a state dept tour…ozomatli.
later
lTMF’sA
and it isn’t the highest score in Seattle by any means!
My wallet is the one thing I don’t seem to manage to leave at home. This is at least in part because the cash I need to buy lunch, my bus pass, and the card key that lets me into my office are all attached.
Don’t ask about my pants, though.
Alas, Tasmania is not in their system.
Of course, since I can walk a kilometer and still not get off our place, I’m betting we’d score near the bottom for walk-ability (there’s a petrol station with a mini-mart about four kilometers down the road – Luna and I could get there in less than an hour, but the walk home would be a really long trudge all up hill). On the plus side, it’s a very short walk to the shed to collect eggs.
thanks for that link to the ozo article, dada. i knew they were on tour in the ME but hadn’t read anything on it lately.
i scored a 72, not bad for a city without much public transit infrastructure

Well I am forgetting everything right now. 38 weeks pregnant and I haven’t had a brain since…well…oh…about 20 weeks π I walk into a room and then instantly forget what the hell I am there for!
In that case you may as well stay put, and prop up your feet, ’til the baby comes.
Oh, and bean bag chairs are a bad idea.
Lol been doing that and more! I think I have finally gotten my ankles back! For the moment anyway… π
hi Cake! I remembered you mentioning a baby Cake/Bunny Slippers. Don’t worry about the memory loss, I’m not able to be pregnant and have that happen all the time! π Hope you’re doing well.
Yeah hopefully he should be here really soon, lost the mucus plug today and been having the odd contraction here and there but nothing really substantial π Doc says maybe sometime this week. Due date is supposed to be the 12th so we shall see π
just what the world needs – another Leo π
(so speaketh the Virgo)
Best to you both during this exciting time!
A boy Leo is always welcome! It’s the girl Leos you have to watch out for! :>)
I’m kidding. Congrats on the new addition. I hope you have a quick and easy birth.
Well Momma is a Leo too so this oughta be really interesting!
Thanks for the good thoughts π
Congratulations!!!
It’s just all the stuff you’re trying to remember now. Your brain overflows, and things fall out. You have to remember for two now.
ooooh thunder. gonna sign off for abit….hopefully it’s not a repeat of yesterday
Good idea, especially if you are on dial up. We lost a computer once during a storm. The city flooded. We were high and dry, but a lightning strike took out our phone service, the computer, and everything else electronic. (Except the ancient TV that I would have loved to replace.)
The surge came from the phone line, hit the computer, and got my fingers through the keyboard. It left me tingling for a while.
KamaKid has the chance to go to Uganda next summer with Jane Goodall’s Group “roots and shoots”, which is a kid’s program to learn about wild life. In Uganda, she would look for, and learn about, gorillas. KamaKid is a Teen Wild Life Guide at the local zoo and has wanted to work with animals since she was 2. Through the zoo, she can go to exotic locals and all she has to pay for is a plane ticket. Sadly, the ticket to Uganda is over $4,000. So, she wants to earn the money to go.
We’re talking about selling cookies or drawings or earrings or something. We live near a decent retail street, but I worry about permits and such. She basically wants to do the street musician thing but with food or goods, along with a sign about her ulterior motive, that is, getting to Uganda.
Any ideas or thoughts on the concept? Is it something she should try? Is it in violation of some law? She doesn’t want to beg, but also doesn’t want to get into trouble. I’ve heard horror stories about The Health Department ™. KamaKid is 13, so she is too young to get a part-time job, but is willing to work for this opportunity.
I’m running in the dark here, so I would love any ideas or thoughts.
Not to impugn KamaKid entrepreneurial spirit, but that’s a lot of cookies! How about getting people to donate a few bucks via a paypal account, in exchange for a well written trip diary sent out to all the contributors. She could even contact the local paper with a similar offer to write an article about her experiences – with that paper running a promo now telling people where they can contribute (set up a local bank account people can deposit money into). Many hands make light work, and many small amounts of money can add up quickly.
Just a thought.
It is a lot of cookies. But, your right, it is a long shot. I can pay for half of the trip, so maybe it is possible. If not, it is possible that she can go on another trip in 2009. And if that fails, college is just around the corner! At $25,000 (total costs with room and board) per year for in state students, every dollar will help. <whew>
I like your idea. KamaKid is good with words and would have a lot of fun sharing amusing stories, photos and even interviews. If it looks like she can really go, she might do something like this.
Also look around for educational foundations offering grants for this sort of thing. It would usually involve writing a proposal, and agreeing to do a paper and/or presentation to a class or a school when she gets back, passing on what she might have learned…
There’s a fair bit of that kind of money around, sometimes, and not many people think of asking for it, so sometimes it goes unclaimed.
Worth checking into, in any event.
That’s a good idea. I’ve heard of Rotary Club scholarships for something similar. I’ll look into it. Thanks.
I always forget to anticipate. After all this time, you’d think I’d have learned.
My biggest problem is not what I forget, but who I forget. After being gone for so long and then moving back home, I have people coming up to me and say hi and how have you been. I’ll think who the hell is this person and just say something to where I can connect you. This is a small town and everyone knows everyone, but 30 years can make people look a lot different.
Of course I look the same as I did at 21. OK maybe more weight, pot belly and jowly in the face, but hey, I’m still the same. π
