An open letter to Barbara Mikulski:

Oh, Senator! How I trusted you!

Yet, when the vote came to knuckle under to Emperor Bush and his expansion of policies to increase wiretapping and reduce the rights of Americans, you voted YEA along with the Democratic Defector Joe Lieberman and all of those Republicans.

When I looked over the vote list this morning I was amazed. I have always trusted you to preserve rights of Americans above all other things. I had not thought you needed to look “tough on terror” by playing to the fears which Bush and his cohorts promote on a regular basis. I thought you were in tune with what the majority of Marylanders and certainly Maryland Democrats believe.

Were you just tired from the extended sessions as Bush kept Congress open? Was going on vacation that important? I never saw you as one who could be strongarmed.

Now I can’t look at you in the same way that I do Senator Cardin, whose vote reflected our state’s real concerns. I am so disappointed.

Oh… aren’t you up for reelection in 08?
