Good morning!
Looks like the ungodly fog we jave this morning is going to interfere with my plans to bike over to the farmer’s market this am…and it’s supposed to hit 95 degrees this afternoon. Sigh.
Morning, CG!
I just posted in the old one, but this is more tidy.
Mid 90s forecast here as well, but a bit cooler tomorrow.
We’re supposed to get thunderstorms tomorrow – just what we need, more rain!
How are you? I think I’ve missed you in the cafe every day this week.
I think I’m ALMOST looking forward to school starting next week so that I get back to a more regular routine again. ALMOST.
I’ve been a bit distracted.
So, you’re back to regular schedule next week – mine only start after Labor Day.
CBtY starts Tuesday, CBtE the following Monday.
Enjoy your Saturdays everyone. We spent ours working on the yard (mostly pulling up unwanted plants so the alpacas won’t poison themselves in the yard behind the house) and now we’re ready for bed. Everybody except Albert that is. He get’s especially active around this time of day, which is why he spends his nights in the laundry room.
My god!….he does laundry too? I need to get a rabbit.
‘Night, keres.
Morning everyone else.
If only!
We actually refer to the laundry room as “Albert’s Room” because in addition to it being his bedroom, it’s where his litter box and food and water bowls are. A few years back I installed a half-door between his room and the kitchen so that we can shut him in but still hear a bit of what he’s up to. The final feature of his room is a cabin latch on the door, which we latch when Luna is in the house to keep her out while still allowing Albert to get in (especially useful if she’s being pesky and he needs to get away from her).
Also, the refrigerator is in there, so he has plenty of opportunities to beg for fresh veggies.
Good morning everyone and good night keres.
Mid 90s here today too. The only thing good I can say is it is cooling down. At least it’s not in the 100s.
morning, fm. 101 today. have i mentioned that i hate summer and also that my shift keys are both sticking now?
I looked at the 10 day forecast and we’ll stay in the high 90s for awhile. There should be someway to unstick those keys. I bet Andi would know how.
I think i’ll do what the young folks are doing these days and use all lower case letters and no punctuation.
Still got relatives out the wazoo?
You used to use upper case? 😛
Yep still got em and it looks like they’ll be here for awhile this time.
What big plans do you have for the weekend?
Well, I’m largely single this weekend so I’ve got some visiting planned and generally staying cool is the idea.
Have you made a chore list for the rels so they can pick which ones they’d like to do?
Staying cool here is the big idea too. I’ve got to get the lawn done sometimes this weekend, but I’m sure not feeling like it right now.
Actually I’d rather do the cleaning up so when I put something up, I can find it again. Oh back to the days of when I lived by myself. I knew where everything was, and it was so much more slackerly. 🙂
my grass hasn’t grown since May. It’s brown and crispy with just some random tall sprouts of crabgrass and other hardy stuff.
I wish mine hadn’t, but it appears I have some mutant grass that grows no matter what.
I just saw on the news. You better go out and get your Powerball ticket. 🙂
I pay no attention whatsoever to the lottery. Is it a big jackpot?
Since we don’t have a lottery, I don’t either. The news says it’s up to 365 million. Heck I could get by on just 1 mil.
Gotta go. Family is up and I’ve got to get breakfast started.
Have a good w/e.
Good morning everyone.
I need coffee!
Morning, FM.
I need my coffee too…I’m so sleepy I just poured the water into the wrong side of the espresso maker.
Morning CG.
I’m finally on my second cup, so my eyes are starting to open a little. 😉
Get that coffee made.
Sipping it as we speak, er, type. 🙂
Still have company this morning?
Good, glad you got some coffee.
Yep still here and will be for awhile. Hope the groceries hold out.
Has it cooled down for you any? We actually had about an hour of rain yesterday.
Family up and moving already. Gotta go.
Everyone have a good day.
It seems to be the humidity more than anything else this morning.
Have a great day!
Good morning, FM and CG!
Coffee time here as well, we’re watching The Milagro Beanfield War on DVD.
Good morning! Sounds like a nice thing to do on such a hot and soggy morning.
Drat.
At least there are lovely trees to look at.
Hi Andi. It’s almost 7pm Monday evening here, and Luna is scraping her bowl on the front pavement, so it must be dinner time as well.
Imogen is away for a few days, so it’s just me and the critters.
Hi Keres.
You had better feed her before she eats the door.
I just threw some raw meat at her, but from the bowl scraping sounds coming from outside I’d better throw her some more.
I wish George was that easy to please. He’s such a picky eater.
Luna goes through phases. Just a few days ago she wanted her meat cooked, but today raw is fine. I don’t try to put too much thought in it.
I don’t know, but I think George has been having a craving for Chinese food. Maybe this weekend.
Luna likes pasta, so maybe George would like a a soba or udon dish. Second helpings seem to have placated the beast for now. We’ll see how she goes.
George is a big pasta fan too. Oddest thing though, he loves the white seedless grapes. Can’t get enough of them.
Yes, I’d have to agree that the grape habit is odd. Luna has pretty straight forward tastes for a dog.
She’s very fond of raw eggs, so we usually give her one after we’ve collected them – and she has fun breaking into it (and we have fun watching her).
Sorry to hear that Imogen is away again. Maybe Albert will feel like snuggling.
Although Albert is subjected to snuggling on a daily basis, he, at best, considers it the unwelcome tariff he pays for such a cushy lifestyle.
I think it’s very gracious of him to agree to it at all — I’m sure he realizes that being the cutest bunny on the planet is sufficient payment for his kibble.
Yes it is, but the downside of being the cutest bunny on the planet is that his minions can’t help themselves and must spontaneously cuddle him at times. He seems to accept one cuddle per minion per day, but any extras evoke (silent) comment.
Very nice shot. I like the light and shadows on the tree bark.
Yep it’s another glorious Monday where everyone will be of to work and I’ll be, er, never mind. 🙂
I spent Saturday with my retired-this-year sister who blathered on about how she never knows what day it is anymore. The only reason I didn’t kill was because my mom was there too so it wouldn’t have been polite.
Andi where would I be without you? I would still be thinking it’s Saturday. 🙂
Did you get all your wood cut this weekend?
We made some good headway on the wood but we’ve still got a lot to go — we had quite a few large trees that had to come down for the new septic field. Fortunately, the guy that does our yard loaned us his log splitter so the “wood heats you twice” saying isn’t quite as true as it normally is.
A log splitter! Geeze I thought ya’ll were out there swinging axes. 🙂
We’ve got two fireplaces in the house, but we haven’t used them in awhile. The smoke and smoke smell affects FMoms asthma too much. I remember years ago we had two inserts to go into them, and when both were cranked up, it was like an oven in this house.
Good morning/evening, Andi, keres and FM!
Just a few days left of August – cooler times ahead (for some of us).
I’m so looking forward to the colder times. Mid 90s here yesterday, and I was actually thinking it has cooled down. Which in reality it has.
We’ve got some cooler temps in the forecast but no rain. 🙁
Today was the first day that actually felt like spring Downunder. Imogen and I built another raised garden bed yesterday, and we’re looking forward to actually planting things soon. We were talking today, as I drove her to the airport, about which plants to put in. We have so little water to work with that we’ve decided to focus on those veggies that we can’t get from our local market gardeners. Also, I’m looking at ways glass in one bed so that we can grow some chillies and other plants, like eggplant, that really need more heat than the weather here naturally supplies.
Since Andi reminded me it’s Monday, I have a feeling I should get started and do some stuff around here today.
I’ll think about what I’m going to do while I’m taking a nap.
See ya later.
What time does a person have to get out of bed to have breakfast with you folks?
Morning, everyone. This is the coolest morning in several weeks…about 70 degrees and the youngest nature boy starts his final year of high school this morning with a senior breakfast and parade.
Good morning, SN!
sleepless geezers & someone in a different time zone.
Good for youngest nature boy – oldest asklet is also starting her senior year, starting after Labor Day.
Finally – someone who sleeps past 5:00 AM! It’s an exciting year for her and you both then. Has she picked out a college?
Oh no, SN!
Look further up – I checked in at 5.30.
Yes, coming year will be exciting. I’m not too familiar with the US education system, and now is the time to check out colleges.
Darn…so I guess CG and I are the only ones who slacked off a little this morning.
We’ll be visiting state colleges this fall and applying before Thanksgiving. He still has to take the SAT though and he’s a terrible test taker and has inherited my math retardation….so it’ll be interesting.
Can he get extra test taking time or smaller-group testing?
You can have breakfast with me mid/late afternoon your time. But I’m probably not the one of ones you to whom you were referring.
And on that note, I’m off to bed.
See you again about eight-and-a-half hours from now.
I’m pokey about getting up too. That 5:30 AM stuff can wait till next week. Yeesh.
A parade to start the school year? wow.
Morning CG.
Back to school next week? They been started here. It gets earlier and earlier each year.
CBtY has to be wating for the bus at 6:52. Unreal. School is only 2 miles away and doesn’t start until 7:40.
In contrast, CBtE catches the bus 45 minutes later, and has a 20-minute ride to school on the far side of town. Go figure.
They get to ride to school? When I was young I had to walk through 10.125 miles of snow…..yada, yada, yada. 🙂
had to wait until it was your day to wear the shoes that you had to share with your brothers and sisters because you were so poor…
They have shoes? 😛
In the New Hampshire version of the story, anyway… 🙂
Morning SN.
Well if you didn’t sleep more than me, you might have gotten up at a decent hour. 🙂
Hooray for the Nature Boy – a senior. The next senior thing I’ll approach is the discount tickets.
Yep, pretty soon you’ll be going to Shoney’s at 4 PM for dinner and then shuffling off to bed.
Well the timing for bed is about right, but I haven’t eaten at Shoney’s in decades.
Good morning all. Met Manny last pm, nicest guy. See you in a bit.
and I made him do the group hug thing so wrath of the cafe wouldn’t rain down 🙂
[back to work…blech]
Hey Boran and Manny glad you two got to meet. Group hug thing was probably a good idea too. Wouldn’t want the wrath of Andi, SN and CG to rain down upon ya’ll. 😉
Having met two of the three, I agree 😉
So young and so wise. 😉
What time was that? I swear at around 10 PM I felt a little mexican last night.
your habanero detector is functioning perfectly. We parted ways around 7pm local time so I could drive down the hill back to the fires of hell. Why can’t all of Az have the climate of Sedona?
Ah, Sedona.
Morning everyone.
We’re supposed to get a spectacular Luna Eclipse tonight and I’ll be taking pictures and posting them for the early risers in the US.
Luna Eclipse
I can’t wait to see the corona on her. Next up, an Inti eclipse? 🙂
Where has the summer gone???
Hi Toni. Jim’s back in school since the 14th so he can definitely sympathize.
This cafe is full of early risers. I am not usually on the computer until the evening.
The 14th! Yuck. I have in-service the next two days and the kids show up next Tuesday.
Did you have a nice summer?
It’s hard to believe the summer’s already over, isn’t it?
How’s your little guy? He has big changes ahead this fall, doesn’t he?
Morning Andi and Hi Toni.
Too many clouds here for the eclipse, but I’m not arguing. It was only supposed to last about 30 minutes here.
Hey FM – what’s new?
Hi Toni.
It so good to see you. Nothing new here, just trying to get my first cup of coffee and wake up. I did remember to run outside to look at the eclipse, but it was too cloudy.
How have you been doing?
Since I got back from Florida, I feel like I have been in a whirlwind of activity, trying to get ready for school and trying to enjoy the last days of summer.
We missed the eclipse – didn’t even know about it until after the fact – we were up early enough, too.
I had forgotten about ya’ll going to FL. Hey I’m more than ready for the summer to be over here. I think there’s a general consensus it has been TOO HOT! 🙂
Too hot there, not enough rain here. Crappy climate change.
I’ve got to go get a little boy out of bed.
See you all later.
See ya later Toni.
Hi keres, Andi, FM, and TT!
(I can’t believe I’m up early enough to catch everyone this morning.)
I was just thinking the same thing! When do the boys go back to school?
The younger one goes back next Tuesday, the older one starts high school the following Monday.
So this week we’re doing all of our doctor, orthodontist, etc appointments. Fun, fun.
second day of school and young nature boy is sick. Since he got back from Montana he’s had all kinds of stomach trouble, this morning the worst. Wonder if he picked up a parasite. Waiting for the doc to open this morning.
Morning SN.
I hope Nature Boy gets to feeling better.
Ugh. I hope he feels better too.
Parasites suck (sorry about the pun).
Morning CG.
What early? 🙂
I’ve been out walking and trying not to be depressed by what the drought has done to the trees and then working on firewood while it was still pleasant out — so now I’ve got a double failure to start Tuesday.
Well I guess I’ll put my lousy mood to good use and get started on work.
Hope the rest of you are having a better day than me.
Ta.
It looks like everybody’s week is starting out bad. Hope you get to feeling better too Andi.
