ready for you to start your day.
Thanks for the new cafe. They sure do load a lot faster when I don’t have to move all the empty cups and dirty plates out of the way first. 🙂
I keep trying to remember to do it before bed, but I’m always falling asleep before I get to it.
How are you doing? No travel for you this week, I hope.
No work trips on my schedule till some time in November, unless something comes up on short notice.
Even better news — the hot weather is supposed to be gone by Wednesday.
Yay!
Saturday was undogly humid here, but yesterday dried out and was so nice I walked 6 miles instead of the usual 5.
I have a work trip coming up 2 weeks from tomorrow…I’m dreading that one.
Sorry about the trip — hope it’s a short one to somewhere nice with people who are pleasant to work with.
Giddy is telling me that I need to be competitive with you on miles and there’s no time like RIGHT NOW to start!
So off to woods (but I probably only do between 3-4 miles so you’ll keep right on being the champ).
See ya.
It’s a quick trip to Dallas (less than 48 hours), but the meeting is in a chi-chi spa hotel, so I might be able to squeeze in a pedicure since I’m not obligated to do all the dinner and schmoozing stuff. I don’t think I know any of the folks who are going to be there (well, maybe one of the clients from previous business a few years back)… 🙂
Morning CG and Andi.
You two are so lucky to get to travel. 🙂
Its been pleasant down here and we’re even getting some rain. I’m just waiting for the first frost. Probably in Dec.
Glad your weather is mellowing out. And it’s good to see you- you’ve been missed!
I’m wishing for a little cold snap so that the leaves (which are beginning to turn) will get those brilliant fall colors. Right now we have yellow and brown, with a hint of orange.
I was over at Olivia’s last night, and she has some very pretty pictures of tree turning. Down here the pine trees just get a little darker. Don’t know why it isn’t as big a tourist attraction as up North. 🙂
Our cold snap down here has been the high 80’s, but the rain does help.
Good morning all. A beautiful day here in the Hudson Valley. It will actually be restful being at work (gasp) after a very hectic weekend.
Morning Boran.
I can’t think of any reason to look forward to work, but to each their own. Slack when possible.
I was initially up at 4:00 with the crazy dogs, but went back to bed until a reasonable hour. Seems like a pretty morning and it’s heading up to near ninety again. The young Nature Boy has an off day from school and will probably sleep in to celebrate before I pack his day full of manly chores.
Morning SN.
Yep I was up in the middle of the night because of George. I know how you feel.
The young Nature Boy off for a day and you’re going to make him work? How cruel. 🙂
I feel it is my duty as the mother of sons to send them off into the world knowing how to work hard. Excuse me while my daughter and I get a pedicure…
Yep and he’ll thank you forever for that lesson. 🙂
My son’s new painting:
Detail:
You should be bragging on that.
He and his wife are both artists and their talent blows me away. They also do things VERY LARGE, so the bellydancer is life size.
It would probably take me years to complete something like that. Then again, I’m not an artist, so maybe decades.
It took him a few weeks, but he works full time too. I like starting things, but then I never finish them because I lose interest in it.
Is FMom all better?
I’m sort of the same way. I love to start stuff, but loose interest after awhile.
Yep everyone is fine now, but I told her yesterday she was taking her life into her own hands. My sil made some Tuna fish salad and FMom ate some. Some people never learn.
Tuna and mayo would be one of those things I’d have a hard time eating after getting over food poisoning. I’m glad she’s better though. Stuff like that is hard on elderly folks. Speaking of….how are you feeling? 😉
I’m feeling fair today. I’m trying to get some energy so I can do the lawn today. However, I can see a nap coming before I go out to do that.
Has everyone at the Nature house been doing OK?
Well, things have been a little chaotic around here lately, but generally we’re all doing well. I guess I should get my day started, eh?
Glad to hear everything is OK. Yep I’ve got to get started too.
Everyone have a good day in the pond.
He’s really good. Where will that one be hanging?
He’s got a buyer in Cleveland and he’s delivering it today. I think this one is going into a new restaurant in the warehouse district.
And repeating my comment from the last cafe:
Way cool!!
I love the detail in the skirt.
Yeah, he seems to have this fixation with laughing skulls. They’ve been in everything he’s done since he was about 12.
Any rain on the horizon for you guys?
There’s a 40%-50% chance of rain on Tuesday and Wednesday but I’ve seen that forecast turn to dust way too many times over the last 3 months so I’m not believing it until the ground is actually soaked.
Hi Andi.
We’ve gotten some rain the last two days, but not nearly enough. One good thing is they’ve lifted the burn notices down here, so we have to be doing better.
Hope you get that rain this week.
Me, too. It’s just a little too weird having desert weather in the middle of the midwest.
(Glad you guys got some — but hope it wasn’t enough to make the grass grow.)
If morning would wait until the afternoon to show up, the world would be a much better place.
Morning Andi.
If your epiphany was correct, then you wouldn’t be a morning person. How could you give that up?
I’m pretty sure I could learn to live with it and I’m positive that I’m willing to try.
Good morning, Andi and FM!
I need to get started early today, but not this early.
Morning ask.
Yep an early start is good, but I can see a lot of naps in my day today.
Hi Ask.
That was a really great diary you did on the UN climate change meeting. Thanks for the making the effort.
Thanks, and no problem!
It was quite an exiting morning.
Good morning all. I’ve just gotten some good news, a painting that I did of a local structure is being taken into the collection of our town historical society. Yippee!
That is so cool! Congratulations!
Thanks!
Congrats Boran.
I can see it now. You’ll become on of those people I can say, I knew him when. 🙂
If only!
That’s great news, boran!
Can you show us a copy?
Thanks, ask. Sorry, I don’t have a copy. You’ll have to take a trip to the ‘burbs to see it. 😉
What a fine start to the new year. 🙂
Thanks, Andi!
I can feel myself starting to relax.
Good morning!
Already YAHD – great.
The image has a calming effect as well.
Not only is it YAHD but also we got rain yesterday and this morning and the high in the 90s have become highs in the 70s — so Wednesday is looking very good to me.
We’re getting the 90 high today. It feels like neverending summer.
Yup.
90 and humid again today.
Got any big plans for the day?
Briefly in the office this morning to print/scan a bunch of stuff.
Then shopping at the Union Square Greenmarket – followed by a nap.
Hi ask.
Sounds like a good day ahead. The market sounds like it would be a great place to shop. Although I can’t believe there are farms close to NYC. Everybody know that NYC covers the whole Northeast. 🙂
That does look like a good place to shop. And a more fun day than I’m having. 🙂
The 5-day forecast here has the temps in the uppers 70s every day so maybe a cool-down is headed your way.
I think it is supposed to be cooler starting tomorrow.
We were playing tennis late yesterday afternoon while CBtY was at his lesson, and I couldn’t believe how hot it was.
What’s typical weather in Indiana this time of year?
Low 70s with decent amounts of rain. Fall color would normally arrive mid-October.
And this is probably my last week for walking in the morning — it’s getting light enough to see too late. 🙁
Or maybe I’ll walk in the dark with a headlamp. 🙂
And on that note, I guess I’ll get myself going.
See ya.
Good morning all. Warm here and will continue to be so. I guess that I’ll wait to remove the a/c unit from the window.
Good morning.
Overslept this morning and still haven’t gotten the first cup of coffee. It will be in the high 80’s here, so at the moment, I’m still considering that pleasant. Much better than low 100’s.
Sounds good to me, FM. The mornings have been relatively cool, so at least I’ve been able to have coffee outside lately.
Morning SN.
Yep we’re at 70 now and it’s nice in the mornings. Winter will be here soon though, thank the FSM.
It rained for 3 hours yesterday. Lovely, just lovely.
Glad to hear ya’ll finally got some rain. We’ve got a chance of it this pm, but not much of one.
Hope you have a good morning ahead of you. I’ve had another no sleep night, and I think I’ve give sleep another try. I can see a lot of naps coming up today. 🙂
I hope you’re already napping and don’t read this till much later.
Morning, FM!
Enjoy your nap(s)!
Good for you all, Andi!
Looks like we’ll get rain later today – then cooler and drier for the weekend 🙂
I guess the upside of a drought is that rain doesn’t ruin your day. I’ll be glad when we get back to a normal pattern and I can be grumpy about rain keeping me indoors.
..and I can be grumpy about rain keeping me indoors.
For now, I trust you are out dancing in it whenever there is an opportunity.
B
I was typing away and then thing just posted.
Anyway as I was saying ….
But, being well aware of my deficiences, I’m very thoughtful of the birds and don’t sing.
You?…grumpy? Nah.
Morning, everyone.
I’m not grumpy now — the dogs and I went out walking in the rain this morning and we all got nicely soaked (except Hopey who apparently feels his stately pace requires nice weather). That’s three straight days with at least some rain. Nirvana.
It’s a little overcast here this morning (which is a good thing, since I have conference calls this morning and can’t walk till later). Hopefully it will clear up by lunchtime.
I can’t believe it’s already almost October.
O’s in Cleveland this week for art related stuff and said it has rained nonstop for days. On a related note: yay October!
Good morning all. Apparently, Andi’s rain is headed my way. But it has been beautiful here lately. And the leaves have already started to turn gold.
And another happy moment (for drought-stricken Hoosiers, anyway) — yesterday’s rain.
Good morning!
It looks like a pleasant drizzle, not too heavy.
The humidity is still unpleasant here, though we got a little rain overnight.
It was a soft, steady rain and the temps were in the low 70s — all of which actually makes for a lovely walk.
It’s only 56 here so I’m trying to be hopeful that Fall weather has arrived.
That sounds lovely.
Well, coffee is ready and curly is up (early).
Enjoy the coffee and the weekend.
Every time I see a photo like that I look for the brontosaurus munching leaves at the very tops of the trees.
The leaves are so beat up they all look like a brontosaurus has been chomping on them.
Any rain coming your way?
No rain at all, but highs in the 70s are coming next week! I’m waiting for a hard freeze, which of course is months away. It’s been a horrible summer for fleas. Everything I try for both the dog and the cats has been ineffective and Hopey’s scratching in the middle of the night drives me crazy. The vet said Frontline has been around long enough now that fleas are becoming resistant to it….and now K9 Advantix is losing it’s effectiveness.
That’s really bad news about Frontline. Fortunately, it’s still working really well for the Pack — maybe because there are so many wild furry critters for the fleas to bite.
How is everyone today?
I am SO glad it’s Friday. I have the work project from HE-double-hockeysticks that I’m working on, and I can’t wait to forget about it for 2 days. I took it on for someone who’s out on maternity leave, so I picked it up midstream (bad idea in the first place) and now I have a meeting with 7 talks that I’m working on slides for, and only 1 of the presenters can deign to get me his slides before the end of next week (the meeting is on the 10th). Of course I’m going away when they will finally all send their slides to me. I guess they’ll have to do something about that in the office…
Oh, and did I mention that the client/agency doing the logistics still hasn’t identified a speaker for the last talk? A freakin’ disaster.
I think I need some coffee. Or something.
I’d suggest coffee and something.
And I’m off to walk.
Ta.
Good morning Andi, ask, SN and CG.
We’re still in the 80’s but we’ll have a low of 53 tonight. I’m still ready for the highs to be in the 50’s though.
I’m like CG and I need some coffee.
Hay, FM, I’m ready too. I’ve had to use the a/c the last couple of days.
Hiya Boran.
I’m ready for the between months to get here. What I mean is those months when you need no a/c or heating and the power bill is at its lowest.
