Progress Pond

Some people say that bin Laden is a construct? Ahmadinejad’s not, for SURE.

So President Ahmadinejad has had his say in the U.N.

And the U.S. media is trying to demonize him.

It’s hard, though.

Really…

This little grinning guy in an open necked shirt is just saying what we ALL know in our hearts to be true.

America IS fucked.

Big time.

And it cannot continue on its current path much longer without some sort of heavy-duty crash.

What’s new about THAT?

Is he perfect?

No…he’s a politician.

Is he speaking more truth than any major American pol?

Bet on it.

My comments on one boilerplate news story regarding his U.N. speech follow below.

NY Daily News

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad piled on the melodrama and the insults in an address to the UN General Assembly yesterday, urging hostile world powers to turn from a “path of arrogance and obedience to Satan.”

Just look at the news.

Any of it.

ALL of it, pretty near.

Lindsay Lohan, teenage sweetheart, after a few years of exposure to what passes for “America” today:

MMMMmmmmm…!!! GOOD!!!

What name would YOU put on it?

Might it be…

SATAN!!!???

Hmmmmmmm….

Railing against “bullying” states – but not mentioning the United States by name – Ahmadinejad also accused “brutal Zionists” of assassinating Palestinians and insisted that the issue of Iran’s quest for nuclear power is now “closed.”

Y’mean…they are NOT assassinating Palestinans?

And/or assassins are not “brutal”?

Or…like his little misspeak at Columbia…there ARE no Zionists in Israel.

In CHARGE of Israel to some great degree? Give me a break.

The nuke issue is closed?

If he says it is.

That’s the privilege of ANY negotiator.

YOU know. Like Nancy Pelosi?

The issue of George Butcher’s impeachment is “closed”?

OK.

Negotiations are over.

Now what?

The gray-suited Ahmadinejad assailed “some big powers’ disregard of morals, divine values, the teachings of the Prophets and instructions by the Almighty God, as well as the rule of the incompetent,” in his remarks, which were greeted by applause scattered throughout the grand chamber at their conclusion.

Right on that money, as well.

Even if you do not believe in “God”, you MUST realize that the teachings handed down to us in the bible and other books of the same sort are bottom line prescriptions for the construction of successful societies.

Right?

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you?

Do not covet thy neighbor’s goods?

YOU know.

Basic stuff.

Thou shalt not kill.

Duh.

Ahmadinejad later reiterated that he knows of no homosexuals in Iran – but wouldn’t mind knowing where they are. “Give me an address so we are also aware of what happens in Iran,” he said during a news conference after his speech.

He’s got a sense of humor, too. Will he track down every homosexual in Iran and string ’em up?

I don’t know.

Seems like maybe he’s got some more important problems right now.

Does this bother you?

Well…we can offer them all sanctuary. Along with the Israelis (See below.) Although…probably not in West Virginia.

Maybe the West Village instead?

The U.S. delegation walked out when the Iranian leader took the podium, leaving behind a sole note-taker to hear him pronounce the UN Security Council “ineffective” and accuse the victors of World War II of extorting other nations “from a condescending position similar to that of the master/slave relationship of the medieval ages.”

Master/slave?

Not any more.

Spartacus done got hisse’f some NUKES, baby.

Bet on it.

While the U.S. accuses Iran of being a state sponsor of terrorism, the Iranian leader insisted, according to a translation of his speech, that “humanity has passed a perilous precipice and the age of monotheism, purity, affinity, respecting others, justice and true peace-loving has commenced.”

We shall see.

I doubt it.

But…he IS a politician, after all.

Can’t expect too much reality.

Ultimately, he said, “The era of darkness will end, prisoners will return home, the occupied lands will be freed, Palestine and Iraq will be liberated from the dominion of the occupiers and the people of America and Europe will be free of the pressures exerted by the Zionists.”

Hmmmm…I could live with that.

Could the Israelis?

How’s about we simply give the the Israelis West Virginia? All of them who would like to move to a temperate climate that features many fewer Uzis in hostile hands. How does THAT sound to y’all?

I mean…we might have a little problem with the natives, but after all, it couldn’t be NEARLY as bad as what is up in the Middle East now. Right? Just a bunch of regressive Lynndie England types anyway, right? What’s to lose? Give ’em some displaced persons’ camps, set up a few walls…YOU know.

7,150,000 Irsraeils at present. Say 6 million would want to come here if it looked like we were no longer going to support their presence in the Middle East. Great big, fertile West Virginia only has about 1,800,000 people in it now.

PLENTY of room for some highly industrious visitors. If the Cubans have been so successful in Florida…just IMAGINE how well the Israelis would do here.

What about it? Huh?

Whaddaya say?

The Israelis know how to handle problems with disgruntled natives, anyway. Even if we are not so good at it . On the evidence.

Right.

Next?

Addressing Iran’s nuclear program and the calls of the U.S. and its allies for its restriction, Ahmadinejad pronounced the matter closed because of what he termed Iran’s successful work with the International Atomic Energy Agency.

“Previously, they illegally insisted on politicizing the Iranian nation’s nuclear case, but today, because of the resistance of the Iranian nation, the issue is back to the agency, and I officially announce that in our opinion the nuclear issue of Iran is now closed and has turned into an ordinary agency matter,” he said.

“Whelp…ah guess that’s all’s she wrote, Hiram. Now we either nuke ’em or let ’em be an’ jest fuck wif ’em economically. “

Whadda YOU say?

The House of Representatives voted overwhelmingly yesterday to tighten sanctions on Iran by sharply curbing foreign investment there, and French President Nicolas Sarkozy warned that, “If we allow Iran to acquire nuclear weapons, we would incur an unacceptable risk to stability in the region and in the world.”

“Y’know Hiram, them frogs is turnin’ out t’be pretty good folks, ain’t they? Ah mean…THEY seem to want to go to war too, right? ‘A course…there was that Maginot line thing…but…any ally in a shitstorm, right? Pass the pinot noir, Jameson.”

Facing the international press immediately after his speech, Ahmadinejad criticized Israel as a “usurpive” and “illegal” regime and replied, “Next question, please,” when asked about reports that Syria has faced strikes on possible nuclear facilities and whether Iran could suffer the same.

“Next question, please.”

Bin Laden is laughing  his ASS off.

Bet on it.

Watching on CNN.

From Key West or someplace.

The Bahamas.

Bet on it.
