The Winds of Change have begun to blow in the Middle East.

And they bring bad news to the hegemonists in Washington and Tel Aviv.

Musharraf, as loyal a poodle as American hegemonists could dream of in a long line of such poodles, looks like he is standing on wobbly legs after having stirred the wrath of an aroused citizenry. His downfall which does not look like it is too far away is going to stir fears of similar fates awaiting for them in Mubarak of Egypt, the Saudi monarchy, the Kuwaiti and other Emirates,Lebanon, and other Arab satellites of the United States.

It is noteworthy that Musharraf’s fate would have been different if he had not alienated the citizens of his nation which is overwhelmingly Muslim. His service to Bush in the so called War on Terror has sealed his fate
and he is now a marked man.His move to bring in Benazir Bhutto from exile and prop up his credibility has been an abject failure. Now even this Jeanne d’Arc is not going to be able to help him and she has made a run to Dubai with no intention of returning to Pakistan where she is detested as much as Musharraf.

It looks like Pakistan is now destined for another round of military dictatorship followed by a Taliban like fundamentalist regime in possession of nuclear weapons.

The other toadies of George Bush, namely Mubarak and Saud are no doubt looking over their shoulders wondering if Musharraf’s fate is going to be theirs soon. They have reasons to worry as the entire Muslim world which has seen the humiliation wrought on them by the American and Israeli Talibans is seething with anger and is sitting on a tinder keg.

The embrace by Bush of any of these tyrants is a death grip they can do without. And it would do them no good to cozy up to Bush.Only those who distance themselves from Bush stand any chance of survival from the wrath of their people.

This is actually the same wind that has blown over the Latin American continent bringing down all the toady regimes of the US.It promises to sweep away all the tyrants and no amount of gunboat threats from Bush, Olmert or anyone else is going to change it.

I have a feeling that the Democrats are not going to fare any better than Bush given Mrs.Clinton’s threats to Iran. What the people of the Middle East are tired of is American Hegemony. It would make no difference to them if it is of the Democratic or Republican variety.

Looks like we are condemned to repeat history which we forgot to learn in Vietnam.
