The Season for American Terrorists

Yes Virginia, the season of peace and goodwill saw acts of terrorism committed by religious extremists right here here in the homeland. No, not American Muslim terrorists. So far as I can tell, most of these acts of terrorism were likely committed by Americans who profess to be followers of Jesus Christ (though methinks they follow his example mostly in the breach). Let’s start with this story, shall we:

Associated Press – December 7, 2007 6:35 PM ET

ALBUQUERQUE (AP) – The federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms is helping the Albuquerque Fire Department investigate a suspicious fire that broke out in an abortion clinic last night.

Fire department spokeswoman Melissa Romero says the cause of the fire is unknown.

But the fire department says in a news release that a bystander told investigators that two hooded people threw a gasoline can through a window.

The fire department says the witness reported a small fire started followed by an explosion.

The fire broke out in the office of Curtis Boyd, an Albuquerque-area abortion provider.

Why is it that American terrorists professing to be good Christians always wear hoods? Isn’t that just a little bit creepy to you? But wait — they don’t just emulate racist bigots. They’ve also picked up a few tricks from those evil godless communists, because, if it works who cares where it originated?

Albuquerque abortion clinics damage probed

Firefighters were called out early Christmas morning to Planned Parenthood’s medical offices at 701 San Mateo Blvd. N.E. When crews arrived, they found the roof was on fire, but were able to extinguish the flames in minutes.

Fire officials have confirmed that some type of incendiary device was found on the roof.

Hours earlier, authorities responded to another Planned Parenthood clinic, at 3625 Central Ave. N.E., to find that its windows had been broken.

Nothing like tossing a molotov cocktail on the roof of an abortion clinic to celebrate the birth of the Prince of Peace. I usually just limit myself to plugging in the lights to my Christmas tree, but then, I doubt my faith is as sincere or devoted as the good people who lit up the roof of Planned Parenthood’s coven of witches and demon abortionists.

And let’s not forget that being “Christian” is no defense from crimes of terrorism being perpetrated against you if you are gay:

Family, friends and parishioners packed a South Side church to say goodbye to Donald Young, a choir director at Trinity United Church of Christ, who was found last Sunday shot multiple times at his home in the 2300 block of East 69th Street.

The choir members at Trinity used their voices Saturday to sing praises as the church family of Young celebrated his life. Young was a long time choir director. Saturday, those he once guided through song, found the loss hard to phathom.

“He have everything. He was awesome, just awesome. There are no words to describe him,” said choir member Deborah Jackson.

The media services director of the church where Donald Young taught and led the choir, said, “Young did live an openly gay lifestyle; that was his choice.”

Donald Young, 47, was found shot to death in his South Side apartment Dec. 23, and several items from his home were stolen. He was the choir director for Trinity United Church of Christ, which recently confirmed his sexual orientation to a local news station. […]

[Coalition for Justice and Respect’s Mark] Loveless said since the news of the killings broke, his organization has received phone calls and messages from South Side Black gays and lesbians who said they have been recently attacked. Critical Caucus encourages the community to speak out and report attacks to the police.

Local activist Wil Lockett believes it is time for the community to take action. “Black gay and lesbian people are being attacked and murdered,” Lockett said. “It’s time to get out on the streets and take it on publicly without embarrassment.”

Regardless of whether or not the recent murders will be investigated as hate crimes, Loveless said he is most concerned over the lack of information provided to the community.

“There is a growing concern of the killing of Black gay men,” Loveless said.

And let me mention one more (if you can stomach it) act of terrorism, this one against a poor non-white immigrant on December 20th last:

The Le family moved to America from Vietnam 17 years ago in search of a better life.

Wednesday, America offered a worse life — and death — as Lai Van Le was gunned down while sitting in his car in Saginaw.

Someone killed the 31-year-old man by shooting a single round through the windshield, the slug striking him in the chest sometime before 12:45 p.m. Wednesday, Saginaw Police Detective Sgt. Mark Lively said.

Well, I guess twas the season for violence against those who have been marginalized and demonized in our society. We are in engaged in a “War on Christmas” after all. And I think the terrorists are winning. Indeed, the very people with whom Jesus would have associated were he walking the earth in the flesh today, those who are most often shunned, stigmatized and scapegoated by Americans who otherwise claim a personal relationship with their Lord and Savior, appear to be its primary victims.

What a surprise.
