yeah, he is pretty bummed. Bill was the mastermind behind the Giants first two super bowl wins though, so I take no special pleasure in beating him. Except that, it’s the equivalent of beating Vince Lombardi’s best Packer team. It’s huge.
It’s more than bummed…he is classless. Oh, it was fine when his Perfect Patriots* ran up the score on other teams and won (and these are all professionals so even then, sometimes you gotta take your lumps) but he can’t stand it when he loses. Take it like a man, loser! Dammit, where’s my rattle and pacifier? I should give it to Belichick since my nephew isn’t using it anymore.
He reminds me of the 80s Detroit Pistons (Isaiah Washington, Bill Laimbeer, etc.) ran off the court when Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen and the Chicago Bulls finally won over them. Classless.
(And as you can see from his “leadership” of the Knicks, not much has changed.)
Belichick needs to put on his big-boy drawers and man up already.
Being a Cowboys and a Jets fan, it was hard for me to root for either team. And to be honest, the game (for 3 quarters) was fairly boring.
But damn, that last half of the 4th quarter was exciting. I was nominally rooting for the Giants (being a huge Yankees fan, it’s naturally hard for me to root for Boston-based teams), and that Tyree catch was insane.
I am so confident of both a Patriots win today and a Romney win in Massachusetts on Tuesday that I made this pledge on the air Friday: “If the NY Giants beat the Patriots in the Super Bowl, I will vote cast my Super Duper Tuesday primary vote for (shudder) John McCain.”
So when I say “Go, Pats!” I really, REALLY mean it.
I also think they are even more of a lead-pipe cinch to win the Super Bowl than McCain is to win the GOP nomination. Either way, I’m putting my money..er vote where my mouth is.
We expect a better analysis about the impact of the Giants’ Superbowl win on the election. Will it start a hate-Hillary campaign and switch to Obama in MA? Will the gap widen in NY?
I totally forgot about the mouse – that was definitely up there. I literally fell out of my chair when the mouse jumped through the wall and laid into old dude with the Doritos.
into the Monday news cycle before they jump on the Giant bandwagon with some sort of tie-in to the “Yes We Can!!!” meme.
At least they will if they have their act together.

Belichick, his sour face and dirty tricks.

Brady attending Butch’s State of the Union speech last year.
A team named the PATRIOTS, fer chrissake!!! In this day and age where the word patriotism has been turned into some kind of dirty, sniggering Blackwater/Halliburton-infested joke.
I sat there thinking, Please pull this out! First, because I can’t stand the arrogant Perfect Patriots* and I was glad to see Brady eat a lot of dirt yesterday. The Giants’ defense was so on point.
Second, because it would be a GREAT metaphor for Obama. :<)
I was rooting for the Giants when I heard BooMan really wanted them to win, and when I found out the Patriots had cheated- eavesdropping without FISA! I told my family that if Karma was working then the cheaters would lose.
That last two minutes beat anything the Broncos have ever pulled out.
That was one sick football game. All allegiences aside, probably the best ever SB.
I have to admit that my confidence was a little low after NE scored with 2+ minutes to play, but I also knew that Eli shines in those tough situations and would make some shit happen either way. But damn! Scrambling? That sick catch by Tyree? Holy effin smokes! Eli is one cool headed dude.
And Bruschi and Seou were celebrating on the sideline before that drive. Perfect karma :o)
FYI, that field in Glendale is definitely cursed. Four major games played there and four major upsets: Boise > Okie, Gators > Bucks, WVU > Okie, Gmen > Pats.
Amazing game. Defense just beat the living shit out of the O line and Brady. On a mission. Too bad the MVP couldn’t be given to the entire defense.
I had no interest in who won, but it was a huge victory for the Giants. They earned it with three wins against very good teams. I thought the Giants played WAY better the whole game, then the Patriots took that lead and I thought ‘Geez, here we go again with the damn Patriots’
I never watch the after game interviews so I must have missed something with Belichick (sp). IMO Coughlin (sp) is a FAR worse character than Belichick. Give Coughlin the same amount of success Belichick has had and you will REALLY see some outragous stuff.
Enjoy the win, because that coach with a super bowl ring will be like an angry drunk with a tractor trailer full of whiskey in his backyard. In YOUR neighborhood.
Gotta disagree. Belichick was his usual ungracious, unsporting self. He would have been no different had he won. Its about the game and the result for him and I accept that.
Coughlin was gracious in his comments and I’ve never seen him take more credit than deserved, but like Belichick he’s not going to let his team off the hook if they left something on the field.
Okay, Sam Huff isn’t dead, still his spirit infected the Giants’ defense.
Congrats Booman. Always nice when your team wins the championship.
Words cannot express the mumbling, petulant ass that is Bill Belichick.

This says it even better.

Belichick was classless as usual.

If no effect, then it is not HUGE.
The Audi/Godfather commercial was the class of the Super Bowl ads, although the Hyundai commercials were a good second.
I thought the Will Ferrell Bud Light commercial was the only memorable one.
My friends and I thought the Doritos commercial with the mousetrap was the best by far.
I totally forgot about the mouse – that was definitely up there. I literally fell out of my chair when the mouse jumped through the wall and laid into old dude with the Doritos.

Will Farrel’s piece was slightly disturbing, but then too, Will Farrel is slightly disturbed – funny, but disturbing.
In my heart, I’m 9. I love squirrel ads, cat ads, etc.
The squirrel ad was really funny.
the one that got the best reaction from my guests was the clydesdale-as-Rocky Bud ad.
we also liked the go-daddy ad with Danica Patrick – laughing at her and wondering when her 15 minutes of fame will be over.
one guest works for Hershey and had been told to look for their big ad for IceBreakers, but he wasnt impressed.

GOTTA love it.
Makes me proud to be a New Yorker.
And I don’t give a SHIT about football.

Not to mention that the BIG BLUE has got to represent the blue party.

Here’s one for BooMan via Shakesville:

that’s awesome. What movie is that from?
Madagascar. It came out in 2005.
All Hail the New York Giants! What’s not to love?

The ratings are in. I don’t have numbers to show, but this was the most-watched Super Bowl EVER.
