The first FISA amendment is going on right now. It is a comparatively unimportant amendment sponsored by freshman Senator Ben Cardin of Maryland. It would sunset the FISA bill after 4 years, rather than the 6 years that are in the base bill. We’ll lose this vote. For some reason this calls to mind something from the innocent 1990’s:
“This is the Most Public of my Many Humiliations.” -Jackie Chiles, Kramer’s Johnnie Cochranesque lawyer in his tobacco litigation case.
Update [2008-2-6 15:44:12 by BooMan]: Yep. The Cardin amendment got 49 ayes and 46 nays, but failed because this was a 60-vote to pass ‘silent filibuster’ vote.
Obama voted, Hillary did not. Any questions?
Hillary must be out trying to raise money for her campaign. Priorities…
casey voted the right way.
awesome.
specter the shitbag did not.
typical.
I think from now on, every time I crank call senator specter, I will share the call with casey’s office. they had a good laugh at his expense last time.
salazar appears to be paying attention. although this was a safe one, he’s a calculating little weasel.
we’ll find out what he’s really made of when immunity comes up.

Both my Senators voted yes. That’s amazing to me. I thought Feinstein would have had a change of heart these past few months. I guess now I’ll have to pay attention to her office’s emails again.
