Texas is now insignificant, or semi-significant, or something.
With more than 56 percent of the results tallied from today’s 284 Democratic district conventions across Texas, Sen. Barack Obama currently is projected to earn a 38-29 pledged delegate win in the Texas caucuses, exactly as projected on the day after the March 4th precinct caucuses. The nine delegate margin in the caucuses means Obama will gain a net margin of five pledged delegates from Texas because Senator Clinton narrowly won the Texas primary by only four delegates, 65-61.
“Despite the Clinton campaign’s widespread attempts to prevent many Texans from participating in their district convention, the voters of Texas confirmed Senator Obama’s important delegate win in the Lone Star State,” said Obama spokesman Josh Earnest. “Today’s record-shattering turnout sends a clear message that the American people are ready for change in Washington and new leadership in the White House that will stand up for working families.”
Let’s go back to March 4th and tally that up again.
Texas: Obama 99, Clinton 94
Ohio: Clinton 74, Obama 65
Vermont: Obama 9 Clinton 6
Rhode Island: Clinton 13, Obama 8Total: Clinton 187, Obama 181
As we dirty bloggers pointed out on election day, by Bill Clinton’s own analysis, the race was over.
“If she wins Texas and Ohio I think she will be the nominee. If you don’t deliver for her, I don’t think she can be. It’s all on you,” the former president told the audience at the beginning of his speech.
Well…she lost Texas 99-94. The Clintons keep trying to take credit for winning contests that they didn’t win (like Nevada and New Hampshire and Michigan and Florida) but lost or tied. Al Gore can tell you all about the worth of a popular vote win if you lose according to the rules.
Barack Obama won Texas by the only measure that actually counts. And I want to give a shout-out to the people at Burnt Orange Report, who did a wonderful job covering the Texas primary, caucuses, and yesterday’s conventions.
As an official Obama Delegate to Travis Count Senate District 14 and now to the State Convention, I am thrilled that the grass roots in Texas did what it is meant to do!!!! I also want to than all the other delegates, the Obama staff and all the people from all over the country that helped call delegates and alternates to turn them out yesterday!!!!
How long did your caucus take rf? I saw that some of them were marathons.
I got there at 7:20 am. I released my delegation after voting for State delegates around 5:30 pm. LOL
wow. Thanks for being so committed.
My pleasure. I am going into Obama Headquarters later today and work the convention hot line for Collin County. Due to logistics, they had to move their convention to today.
I’m always curious when I find out someone’s from Austin, since I used to live in south Austin, within spittin’ distance of the IRS. My kids could have walked straight across I-35 to go to Travis High had they not been farmed hither and yon. My daughter ended up going to LBJ, which was good for her education (she was a science geek and they had a science magnet program) but not so much fun when we had to get up there from south Austin, and us not owning a car. (Yes, we lived over eight years in Austin with no car. It can be done, but it’s not for the faint of heart.)
I live in the south congress ave area. I am one block south of Oltorf. LOL
Yer kiddin’ me. We used to go over to Twin Oaks all the time to chow down at the all-you-can-eat Mexican buffet there. Miguel’s? I forget the name, but we loved the sopapillas. There was a Taco Bell across the street, the bank our company was using at least for a while was at the corner of Oltorf and S. Congress, and I know I shopped at the HEB in that neighborhood at least once.
Small world innit?
Have you read the two diaries on Daily Kos written by Obama people working at these conventions? Melody was there from 6 am to middle of the night. Most of the day was spent dealing with Clinton (from what she could tell) challenges to the delegates.
I have read them and saw some of the Clinton people even in Travis county try some stupid tricks that did not work.
I was reading the coverage of the LATimes this morning
and then later
Lie and deny, spin and slime, challenge and disenfranchise. Does it surprise anyone at this point that the Clintons are drawing straight from the GOP playbook? I think we need to start asking, loudly and often: which party are the Clintons working for? In terms of agenda and tactics, they seem to have more in common with the Republicans than the Democrats. After all, when people doubt the process, they’re less likely to participate, and that favours conservative candidates…
They’re working for the same party that they’ve always worked for…
Wheeew!!!
Now I can put my nervous breakdown on hold.
Go Pennsylvania. Let’s become insignificant.
put the ingrates out.
Ah, but the Clintons won the primary. And they’re the only part that matters, so she won Texas. She also won South Carolina, it turns out – she won Horry County which, coincidentally, is the only part of South Carolina that actually matters! Funny, isn’t it?
yeah, Clinton is going all the way to Denver
unless her creditors do her in before then or those donors who threatened Pelosi pays her way
Cash-strapped Clinton fails to pay bills – Politico
had a post from a guy who used to work at a print shop. He said the first thing they told him in training was to always get cash up front from a political campaign.
I am laughing my ass off about this.
Everyone should start calling talk radio to spread the word.
She can’t manage her campaign finances and damn sure can’t be trusted with our economy!!
well it appears Obama has a hat and has some cattle too.. yeeh haw.

oh well – “I make this look good.”
It was a member of the audience back in Feb 22007 who handed him the Stetson.
Good guys don’t always wear white. Take a look at Yul Brynner’s character in The Magnificent Seven.
and I’ll say it again folks….ROVIAN stactics. Seriously, blue is black and round is square in the Billary World of Politics. Blame the other guy for what you do wrong. Call everyone else liars. Jeesh!
Billary, it is time to call it a day. You are dividing the party and enough is enough. STOP IT NOW!
They don’t have all that much money and word is starting to get around that they’re not good for their debts. Doesn’t matter how good their message is if they can’t get it out — and people are going to look twice at them if, after all the lies about Tuzla and all the infighting in the campaign, it turns out that they can’t pay their bills.
But, but, Rezko trial, I mean Rev. Wright, ah, er waaaaaaaa waaaaaaa. LOL!
…to bring you good news!
Look at that widening gap. Woohooo!!!!!
He’s up by several points in Rasmussen as well.
