Well, “movie” is stretching it, in that it’s about 1.5 minutes. But if you knew all that went into the making of this, movie is the correct term.
As you will recall, Omir here posted a hilarious sketch about “Mrs. C”. I loved it and couldn’t get it out of my head.
I talked to two people I had met in a screenwriting class, one of whom just completed his first film, and another who was dying to get a project under her belt. Between the two of them, aided by some generous donations from several people, we managed to get this video, birthed right here on Booman, up and running!
Please send this to all your friends!!
Everyone involved donated massive amounts of time and goodwill to make this happen. Please let me know what you think so I can share it with the team!
Man. I thought that was funny reading it. The visual cues in that were brilliant. Congrats to you both.
Thanks. Barney Cheng, the director, storyboarded it out and I just knew he’d pull it off. He had this vision and just worked like a dog to make it happen. He and Euvonka were on the phone for a week trying to get a celebrity. They finally got Niecy Nash, who appears on the TV show Reno 911, to participate (as the anesthesiologist).
Barney drew the room before he found a prop place with all that equipment.
The cinematographer is an award winner, as is the composer. These are just fantastic people. And it all started here, with Omir’s script. So cool!!!
I like it. I like it muy much!
In fact I’m just astounded at how well it came together from being an off-the-cuff thing I did to share with a bunch of friends.
Thanks. Barney is an amazing director. This is only his second project ever and look how professional it is!!
Very well done. Many thanks to all who contributed.
It sure is wonderful to see what a little inspiration and a lot of hard work can accomplish.
I will certainly send it on – please convey my appreciation to your friends.
I love it!
Kudos to everyone who put it together.
This is super great! Thanks to all involved from the thoughts to the actual production of it. You all are just great! I think it really needs to be expanded to the press…let them see what a little hard work can and will do. You all are just great…pass my thanks on to the actors involved too.
That was awesome. I saved it right in between my You Tube segments of Obamas speech in Philly and Colbert’s “roast” of Bush as the Washington Press dinner.
great job! kudos to all involved…let’s make it viral,; l’m spreading it far and wide.
thanks lisa and special thanks to omir…a feather in both your caps…who’da thunk?
You just never know where the next great idea will come from. I just loved Omir’s sketch and am SO happy my friends were Obama supporters. They read it and said in one second yes, let’s do that. That NEVER happens!!!!!
Thanks for your help. I want to see this on MSNBC! I mean, if they can show Obama Girl, they can show this!!
I think it would be cool to have them interview the writer. That, however, never happens. The director, the actors, the producers, yeah . . . but the writer? Not so much.
Truth be told though if I made it onto TV I’d probably just be sitting there in my MY WIFE’S WITH STUPID T-shirt going, “Uhhhhh . . . “
Btw – it’s now at 1,896 views!!!
I noticed this comment:
I didn’t even know there was such a thing.
The woman in “That Hillary Show” is the woman we chose. We searched high and low for a good Clinton impersonator. We could get looks, or the voice, but not both. We opted for the voice.
I think it worked just fine. Everyone who commented over on youtube seems to have gotten the point. 🙂
Oh yeah.
Really good work, Omir! What are your friends saying? Had they seen the script before?
So far the only people who know about it (that I know of) are my family, and they mostly know because I said, “Hey, come look at this!” LOL
Not too many people IRL know of my sordid other life as a blogger.
Very well done and pretty funny to boot!
Fantastically funny! I remember reading the riff, but seeing it as a video…wow!
Kudos to the creative efforts of all involved.
Congrats Omir,
and to everyone else involved. Well done.
Get it out there. I`m sending it around as a link. What is the best way to get views up?
Linking from YouTube, or linking from BT?
Good question that I’m not sure I know the answer to. If you link to it here, BooMan gets extra hits (and hopefully extra ad revenue); if you link to it on YouTube, well, everybody’s heard of YouTube and they might be more likely to go there. Do both!
Omir,
When you can have one and/or the other, do both.
A mantra.
I know what you mean about the high percentage of people who could not have imagined you & a computer, in the same image, & those who still don`t. I find it a position of strength.
Good one.
I don’t think it matters, since ultimately the video here is simply embedded. It plays via a link to its original server, so all views from anywhere are tracked in the same database.
Thanks for asking though.
For BT’s sake, send there here. From the producers’ standpoint though, they’d rather people go right to YouTube so they can also rate it (5 stars, please!)
Glad you liked it! You can’t imagine how much work this was. Both Producers worked regular jobs, but managed to work this in around their schedules. Amazing.
Real History,
I appreciated it because, I know how much work is involved.
Getting everybody together at different times who have different responsibilities, on the same page (Omir`s) to produce this ASAP due to the nature of the subject matter, is a tour de force.
And I`ve also personally been on the eyepiece side of the camera, the controls of the editing table, & the soundtrack mixing table, etc.
Stop me, my arm is starting to hurt.
My part was extremely small. I was fortunate to know people willing to do much more than I possibly could in the time alloted. Thanks though – it was a tremendous amount of work for them!
I love it!!!!!
I actually blogged it at my blog with a link back. LOL

I had always suspected I was hanging around with some really talented people and my feelings are confirmed! I mean, gosh omir, first “Roborater” and now this! The world is your oyster, man! Big congrats to you too, Lisa;-)
I’m sending the linkage around.
I’m just glad Omir posted it! Who’d have thunk??
Now pray that a lot of people in CA CD33 saw and loved it, because I’m running against 71 other people to be an Obama delegate. Actually, I’m running against about 40 of them to be one of 2 women chosen. But still! That’s a huge uphill battle, and I’m sure other people have better claims than I have. But I’ll give it my best shot.
CA delegate caucuses are next week. There are Clinton and Obama caucuses in each CD. Anyone who voted on the Democratic ballot is welcome to come vote at these. (Details at http://www.cadem.org for all you Californians!)
I am a State delegate for Obama in Texas and will also be running against lord knows how many to go to national.LOL
What did you say/do to become State Delegate? Did you give a speech at your caucus? Did you bring handouts? I’ve never done this before. I was appointed as an at-large delegate for Jerry Brown in 1992 and went to that convention (I left when the Clinton’s came onto the stage. I was carrying a sign saying “The Emperor has no clothes.” (Little did I know how prescient THAT was, ahah!)
I gave a two minute speech to the Obama Delegates in the precinct delegation. I am sure it didn’t hurt that the precinct delegation(Obama & Hillary Delegates) had elected me unanimously to be the delegation chair to our county convention. You can see the speech I gave or what I could remember of it in this diary
No wonder you got elected. Great speech!!
I hope you make it to Denver, and I hope I see you there!
