When I saw the “It’s raining McCain” video, I initially thought it was a joke. So, it seems, did a lot of other people in the blogoverse. Lead McCain Girl was not amused, and issued a curt, profanity laced 30 second statement to that effect on YouTube. In it, she promised to be back with more McCainy goodness set to music.
And she was true to her word, because here they are again.
I’m beginning to think maybe I judged “Hillary for you and me” too harshly.
Just thought I’d share this bit of levity before it got started.
In the words of a rugby song I learned back in my more boisterous days, “An enthusiastic amateur is worse than any pro.”
As a journalist friend once said: “Everyone is entitled to their opinion. They are not entitled to having their opinion taken seriously.”
Someone needs to explain to these ladies that when you’re doing a media project of any kind, from a blog post to a novel to a YouTube video to a real, pay-to-have-it-aired commercial, to a full-length documentary — convincing your audience to take you and your cause/product/message/story seriously is YOUR responsibility.
No one is obligated to read, watch or recommend your work unless you make it worth the effort.
Oh, well… (Will have to watch this later, I’m at work now…)
