We really need to get Clinton out of the race. I’m really starting to fear for John Aravosis’s health.
John will be OK…..like many EX Clinton supporters and apologists myself included, we realize HOW DUPED we were in the 90’s especially we gay ones who still have the tire tracks on our bodies from being thrown under the bus time after time……
She was so PATHETIC tonight my jaw just dropped with what she did and how she behaved, just when you think she can’t get worse, SHE DOES…that is what Aravosis is rtesponding to, and I concur…UNBELIEVABLE!
Glad to hear your vote (re: JA bouncing back) — I thought the creation of the “Monica” awards was a good sign!
There are certainly stories & issues I’ve disagreed with him on, but that blog is such a great resource.
are the Monica Awards anything like The Cheese Tray Awards?
Quite! He probably could’ve called them the “Kitchen Sink” awards as well, but it’s not as catchy. Cheese tray is catchy!
Thank you. As you can tell I was a little pissed off when I did that post. LOL
Idle thought: I can’t wait to have Terry McAuliffe disappear into the abyss again…
And Lanny Davis. I really can’t stand Lanny Davis.
A GE with no McAuliffe, and none of the other DLC hacks, I can’t wait.
But watching him tonight I’d love to play poker with the guy – you can read him like a book. The more excited he gets the more you know he’s lying.
Him and that asshole Begala.
Childers Wins!
This is a huge win and an enormous blow to the GOP. It’s simply stunning.
Pretty sizable win, too. 53-47 and growing for now. Even Russert had to acknowledge how big it was, according to AmericaBlog.
The Reps are going to lose it over this. If they can’t take down a Dem in MS-01 by using Obama and Pelosi, then Obama and Pelosi Fear ain’t sellin’ anywhere (except, I guess, West Virginia).
They even tried to link Childers to Rev. Wright and failed!
LOL!!
My lord, Childers pulled it off.
The GOP is toast in November. Absolutely obliterating. If MS-01 is lost to them the GOP is dead. We’re looking at 275 House seats here or some obscene number like that, maybe even 300. 60 Senate? It’s in play now for sure.
On the other hand, I believe Bush more than ever is committed to hitting Iran.
He has nothing to lose now. The GOP is going down in flames.
We’re in uncharted waters here. All bets are now off.
There are at least 70 vulnerable House seats, meaning there are 70 well funded Dem challengers in seats less competitive that MS-01.
Thirty seats will be a disappointment at this point, and that would get us to 265.
You mean more competitive than MS-01, I assume?
I’m thinking fifty would be good.
Now I just hope Clinton has the decency to get out soon, and that the state-by-state polling starts moving the right way for Obama.
yes, depending on your point of view, of course.
The more important issue is getting such a large victory that it allows the congressional and senatorial Dems enough confidence, and scares the bejeezus out of the Reps plenty, to allow us to ram the agenda through.
300 then, BooMan. 65 of those 70. It could be more.
Could you imagine Barack Obama with 300+ Dems in the House and 60+ in the Senate?
Could you imagine what we could do?
Somewhere right now Karl Rove is peeing himself and whimpering to his dark gods.
Karma is going to be a bitch.
Single-Payer Healthcare (Medicare for all with no deductibles from birth to death.) That’s what we could do. And so much more…
Universal health care.
Universal education K-16 (or trade school if that’s what floats your boat).
Energy and transportation initiatives.
Allow me to dream for a few minutes.
<muzak>
Aaaaaaaaah.
I read today where Conyers sent a Strongly Worded Letter to the Codpiece-In-Chief stating that if he attacks Iran without Congressional approval, he will be impeached.
Nice words. After they caved in ’06 though I think I’ll believe it when I see it. Assuming, God forbid, that it ever comes to that.
This “seismic shift” is being discussed on the Dan Abrams show on MSNBC.
HA!
Please tell me the Mississippi race is robbing Hillary Clinton of her air time.
Fantastic!!!!!
this one’s gotta hurt…two in a row…goin’ down
yeah!!!
Only one precinct left to report in Mississippi, and Childers leads 54-46%. Just waiting on one more precinct in Prentiss County. Might come close to double digits.
What Drew Jones said:
…which is also mighty strong support for your anti-Hegelian (??) proposal in the previous post. Sorry for further blackboard screeching — what you (BooMan) said was SO RIGHT ON re: the undoubtedly well-intentioned overly-postmodern bloviating at OpenLeft. No question from me on that*.
But whether the voters could look beyond the media circus? Well, once again… what Drew said.
*- FWIW, I started reading pre-OL MyDD because some of the polling analysis was fun to watch, and also, it felt pretty safe there to be Jewish while other blogs were getting more headache-inducing. Then I checked back w/MyDD after several months’ blackout, only to find the brains of the operation had split off, so I went to find OL. We need to close down the primary so some folks can get outside and interact with non-wonks, I think!
The voters are generally behaving in an incredibly mature way this year. I’ve been really impressed. I actually thought Wright had a better than even chance of dealing a fatal blow to Obama, but it did nothing (except, again, apparently in West Virginia).
Well, no, it can’t be those Wright soundbites that set West Virginians against Obama. All the reports I’ve read today have interviewees voting against the Muslim fellow.
Yup. The Muslim closet-terrorist (who happens to be black – not that there’s anything wrong with that.) Wright had nothing to do with this. If anything, Wright may have helped Obama, since he’s a Christian minister with a history of doing good with the poor, even though he hates America.
Could I over-optimistically take this as a sign that maybe the Rovian nastiness that worked against Cleland isn’t working as well?
(Rev. Wright, for all that I would disagree w/him, certainly fits in the ranks of people whose shoes our president is not fit to shine… both for his military service and his work to help those in need.)
I wonder how Cleland’s doing. I know he was campaigning for Murtha when the Republicans tried to sink him for turning against the war, and Murtha called a giant veterans’ rally featuring Cleland.
Cleland could be a good VP candidate: Swiftboating the ticket would be harder with Cleland there to remind people of the scummy lies Republicans come up with, and he could make Georgia blue, since Barr will take votes from McCain. But I don’t know Cleland’s position on any of the issues that are important to me.
