That’s one of the big drawbacks of our house at present — no grill. Otherwise I’d be out there, probably grilling up some of those foot-long Polish sausages they sell at Costco. Mmmmm, those are tasty, especially when cooked over open flame.
It’s silly gorgeous here today.
Right now it’s about 57 out and exptected to come up to about 66 with the chance of shower. Perfect weather (for us) to go to Seattle’s Northwest Folklife Festival, since the cooler weather tends to keep the crowds lower.
I don’t agree with William Buckley that it would be better to be governed by the first 2,000 people in the Boston phone book than the 2,000 people on the Harvard faculty, but I don’t want to be governed by the Harvard faculty. They really are a bunch of pinheads. And I mean that in the most affectionate way.
I am pleased to be governed by people like Carol Shea-Porter (a social worker), Dave Loebsack (a professor at the other Cornell), and Patrick Murphy (son of a Philly cop). I’ll take smart and ordinary over smart and elite anyday.
And mainly for this reason:
Yup.
Chicken wings. Want to come over? We’re not far away!
chicken wings sound good. I have to go get passport pictures taken. Fun, fun.
Where are you going, BooMan?
We’re going to be doing some carne asada, if we can find some, or maybe the marinated chicken from the Mexican market. But it’s so cold here, that I kinda want soup. Was thinking of making some pozole.
Hail.
🙂
the weather out there has been nutty.
Sure has!
OT, did you ever get my card?
On Friday we had flanken steak in a Korean marinade along with pork ribs in barbeque sauce along with corn on the cob. Saturday night we had great steaks and a salad that included asparagus and roasted beets. Delicious. Tonight we’ll be eating leftovers and hotdogs. It’s been a particularly flesh-laden weekend fare. Whenever my girlfriend gets pre-menstrual she likes to fix up big meat plates.
Today it’s overcast along the coast. I hope that helps the folks up in the Santa Cruz mountains.
Wait. I’m a day off because of the holiday. We had the steak last night and the bbq on Saturday.
rain and about 50º
gonna make starting a fire later interesting.
Oh, you guys are making me hungry. Everything sounds so good! Would you please send me a leftover care package?
I’ll send beer!!!
Haha! I just spent the weekend eating frozen burritos and ice cream sandwiches…
Grill? My apartment doesn’t even have a porch, so no grilling for me. And being the klutz that I am, that’s probably a good thing. We’re going to Old Town in a while for some kind of festival, and then (or before) over to the pub for dinner and booze.
Get a little stove top smoker, add mesquite chips and pretend you’re on the grill.
I made salmon and ginger burgers with wasabi- mayo slaw on top.
Flank steak has been marinating for 24 hours in olive oil, lemon juice, honey, black pepper and ginger. I’ll grill that and have it on top of a romaine salad with feta cheese and grape tomatoes and vidalia onions.
Oh yum, can I come over? I’ll bring dessert!
Mmmmm dessert…. 🙂
Buttermilk pie!
steak, chicken and a large helping of: liz trotter-fox news pig!
homemade chorizo and tostadas. tho, i may have to make a trip to the carnicería now that fabooj mentioned carne asada.
I walked around the corner to my hyperlocal carniceria and got some marinated flank steak and short ribs. Now, I’m wondering why we’ve spent the last year driving a mile away to the other market. This is yummy. I only got 2lbs of flank steak and 1 lb. of short ribs because I didn’t think the kids would eat much. We just inhaled it all and we still need to eat dinner later.
Brats and Ribeyes, to be exact – it’s good to be at the top of the food chain.
…talk about giving the political opposition something to rally behind. They completely wrecked the hearings that started, I think, the next day. Everybody had to apologize to hard working, patriotic General Dave for all the mean things those meanies said about him.
And he skated.
