Lanny Davis has a petition for people to sign if they want Obama to select Hillary Clinton as vice-president. Clinton didn’t concede in her speech and is now suffering withering criticism from pretty much every pundit on television (except Lanny Davis). Numerous reporters have said the Obama campaign is irritated as all hell. I don’t know why anyone thought she’d take this opportunity to take the high road. She apparently thinks she can force her way onto the ticket, but she should take a look at one thing that will remind her that she ain’t gonna be on the ticket. It’s pretty fundamental.
“Send us good vibes. Pray for us. Think positive thoughts. But most of all, be vigilant. Be vigilant about stopping this kind of talk. It’s not funny. You don’t have to like Barack to dislike that kind of talk. Be vigilant about stopping that kind of talk.” – Michelle Obama, speaking about Clinton’s references to the RFK assassination.
It doesn’t get any more personal than that. And if Clinton understands this, then what exactly is she doing? I’d love to stop trashing Clinton. I really, really would. People send me all kinds of emails telling me how important it is to stop alienating Clinton supporters. I’m sorry, but I don’t play like that. I stop fighting when you cry uncle. I don’t stop fighting while you’re throwing blows at me. But I’m going on vacation anyway. You all keep up the fight until you see a white flag.
I’m with you Booman. Getting real tired of being told how we are supposed to make nice with Hillary’s supporters. I’m more than willing to welcome them into the fold and get together and focus on McCain– but they have to come at least halfway, and that includes conceding that they lost and that Hillary is behaving like a jerk.
i’ve been fed up with these people, but this past month has been annoying. they’re actually more annoying than the bushbots of ’04 and i never thought that would be possible.
I don’t fear her supporters. They will come around.
I fear only Obama’s fear of her supporters. I hope he has none.
have no fear.
Hillary supporters (those who know acceptance follows denial) are begining to see the Clintons for who they are – really scumbags.
It was a historic night. The Clintons knew it but decided to deny the first African-American to be standard bearer for a majority party his space.
Meet the Clintons. Can you spell the pursuit of power? They’re its poster children.
I couldn’t agree more. Every minute of her speech that went by where she didn’t congratulate Obama on WINNING or concede defeat bred more and more Democratic party division. What the hell is she doing???
2012 Babeee! Yearghhh!
As though we’ll all have amnesia.
For all their supposed political skills, I believe the Clintons are blinded to what they are doing. They’ve gone beyond the point of no return. Their legacy is permanently tarnished, among the public and the party movers and shakers as well.
christina and i were both waiting for her to say something like “and that is why it is time to support the democratic nominee…”
and it never came. shameful and tasteless.
but hey what do we know, we’re overeducated racist white identity politics undereducated blue collar urban rural black people who drink lattes.
I’m only a few of those things?
I’m almost positive you don’t drink lattes. 🙂
Oh, you’ve totally ruined my image of Booman. I imagine him blogging from a cafe, latte at the ready!
I see him as a Vente Black Coffee guy myself. No Latte, but still at the cafe.
bingo.
Green tea is the new latte.
I am actually going to have a latte today. I haven’t had one in years, but somehow it seems fitting this fine rainy wednesday.
Just for the record I drink Caramel Machiattos. Yes, I know I need an intervention.
I never say “vente” or “grande” or “tall.” That’s where I draw the line. Yesterday I got a large mocha with four shots of expresso. The “barista” looked funny at me and I said I was just trying to stay awake.
Have no problem with the new twin-tailed mermaid but am still suspicious of the Procter and Gamble logo.
No Shame, No Class, No Respect, No Pride in her party, what am I missing?
Could this be the last night Lanny Davis and company are ever invited on these shows ever again?
I know its the last time I spend a whole evening watching them again for a long while.
What are you missing? About a hundred million in her joint bank account.
Rachel Maddows just owned Tucker Carlson. I love Tucker has nothing to say against Obama aside from he will let them down. It is funny to see the GOP who looked the other way while GBush mumbled for 8 years that a prez candidate could actually give a moving speech and somehow that is a negative?
Pathetic. These guys have nothing.
I just heard a GOP black pundit on CNN said that we are winning the war. I heard the Alex GOP blowhard earlier on CNN state the surge is working and this is weakness for Obama.
No wonder the media does not cover the war and majority of our citizens have no clue of what is really going on the ground over there when these type comments do not get laughed off the stage like HRC’s non concession speech.
Hillary’s non-concession speech tonite was her last desperate attempt to remain relevant. She knows that by not acknowledging Obama’s victory, she will continue to suck up air time in the media and remain on center stage.
I think the Democratic Party will abandon Hillary, soon. She is not the nominee and is holding out for Obama to pay her debt, which he should not due.
I say its time for Dems to start playing hardball with her. Hopefully, her supporters will see she is “playing” them for her own personal gain.
The same mistake over and over, it’s time to play hardball with her HUSBAND. That’s what this is all about, the Clinton family.
I loved what a GOP pundit said.
He called Bill and Hillary the Ike and Tina Turner of politics.
They don’t play nice and easy. They play rough. LOL!
We need to play rough too. I’m done with all of the Clinton family and their idiotic followers.
I think that most Democrats are ready to abandon Hillary. However, expect the MSM to spend endless hours twittering about Hillary as VP, Hillary as third-party, Hillary as (wo)man of the people, Hillary as having the popular vote, Hillary as yada yada…
Her campaign is not to win herself but to defeat Obama and the Democrats for her ultra-rich corporate friends.
More and more I get the feeling of approaching danger, of the world turned upside down, of the center not holding, of an incredible beast slouching toward Bethlehem or is it Washington, DC?
What is Hillary’s ultimate role in all the political sturm and drang sweeping over the United States? If she can’t force her way on to the party ticket, then, why not rip up the ticket? Maybe, in her wrath at being rejected she will turn out to be the final destroyer, the one who splits the democratic party and paves the way to victory for John McSame.
Perhaps, she is America’s destiny, our ordained future for inflicting so much pain upon innocent people – Vietnam, Central America, Iraq etc.
Gosh, but it has the feel of a morality play for the ages. Feel the current of events pick up more and more speed as we rush to the grand finale. By the way, Booman, enjoy yourself in Italy. I plan a trip to New Zealand —for reconnaissance.
God speaks in whispers. Ssssshhh, be quiet, so you can hear His voice.
Clinton may try to muscle her way onto the ticket. But I doubt Obama would want her. She’s repeatedly claimed she’s the better candidate. So why would she be willing to take the #2 spot? And why would Obama want to be undercut by her, giving her the argument that he can’t win without her? Plus her refusal to concede or even acknowledge Obama’s historic win isn’t going to help.
It’s not hard to figure. Realize that her actions are not illogical and she’s not telling the truth about them.
Then realize who she really represents (look at her personal history and look at her and her husband’s legislative agenda from 1993 on). Look at her bank account. Look at the DLC. Look at where the 109 million dollars came from.
Then use that old-fashioned class analysis thing. Back in the old days before the nineties media megamergers they’d draw cartoons of Hillary on a leash with a chain of gold going up to Daddy Warbucks.
Given the sheer viciousness of some in the pro-Hillary-or-McCain/anti-Obama camp, I’m sure the hope is for Hillary in 2012 by whatever means necessary.
Dude is peddling Michelle Obama pictures now.

No wonder Clinton did not quit, her supporters act the same way.
They’re pulling at straws. The Obamas and Farrakhan were both connected to Trinity Church and Rev. Wright. So why wouldn’t they be photographed together. It doesn’t mean Obama agrees with Farrakhan. In fact, Obama’s repeatedly denounced Farrakhan.
No, that was just rejection. Not good enough. 😉
What I can’t stand about these people is that they jump to conclusions. They are now saying that Farrakhan was instrumental in Obama’s political career without any proof.
Rosalyn Carter and John Wayne Gacy. It’s an old trick, folks. I mean, I never thought that Jimmy Carter was into killing boys and burying them under the floorboards, but there’s your photographic proof.
And by extension slandered Shoshanna Johnson, because she is standing between Michelle Obama and Mother Khadijah Farrakhan.
Why would he stoop to this level?
Well it can’t be to help Hillary because her husband was at this conference;
During an interview with Rev. Jackson, former President Bill Clinton, whose memoirs My Life is a No. 1 best-seller, discussed everything from his impoverished childhood to Bush administration’s policies on taxes at the conference. “If you think that’s good policy, you should ratify it. If not, we’ve got a better deal for you with John Kerry and the Democrats in November.”
Does that mean he secretly supports Farrakhan?
Presidential candidate John Kerry was there also, but that isn’t really important since he supports Barack.
What horrible Anti-American things were going on there?
Other conference highlights included the Rainbow/PUSH’s 1,000 Churches Connected program designed to teach Black churchgoers about finances–how to get out of debt, how to invest in the stock market and also address major health concerns including diabetes, high blood pressure, cancer and AIDS and the importance of proper nutrition.
Here check out the WHOLE story, something Larry Johnson used to be interested in.
Rainbow/PUSH Coalition holds 33rd annual conference in Chicago
And just looking at the comments to some of those threads, it’s astounding just how many of those folks think Obama’s Marxist. The dude’s a freakin’ neo-liberal. Geez.
I’m tired of the Farrakhan slander. We should never have allowed him to be mischaracterized. Now we’re paying for it.
Serves us right too.
It’s not what we allow. It’s what the MSM says ten thousand times.
They played a role but not enough of us bothered to find out what he was saying and point out the lies that were being spread.
I ended up buying some of his tapes and going to see him several times.
This speech was completely tone deaf politically. She alienated herself from the group of Obama supporters that actually supported a joint ticket. I don’t know who advised her to give this speech, but they really cost her politically. Everyone knows that Obama cannot be strong armed into giving her the VP position because it would completely undermine his position on diplomacy. If he did every single time he brought up talking to our enemies Republicans would be screaming about how he caved to Hillary. I just cannot understand the rationale for what she did.
She doesn’t really want VP. She wants another reason for her women to vote for McCain so she can :Save the Party” in 2012. I really think it’s her idea, not Bill’s. Hillary is politically tone-deaf.
In a couple of days she’ll come off the clouds to become the Secretary of something or the next nominee for Attorney General – something we don’t want her to be…
.
NOT!
Clinton seeking power position
"But I will not let myself be reduced to silence."
The Supreme Court is her cup of tea.
They had a story about Taylor Marsh in the WaPo this morning:
For Clinton, A Following Of ‘Marshans’
BTD last night:
Hillary will endorse Obama and campaign for him in the Fall. But as she made clear tonight. It will be on her own terms. Not anyone else’s.
I thought about commenting “And how does this represent anything but self-aggrandizement?” But why bother ….
Jeralyn:
Hillary doesn’t have an ounce of victimhood in her.
Wow. Just wow.
Just for fun, I went over there to read the comments and see what those folks were up to, and it blew my mind. Those folks live on a different planet from the rest of us.
It reminds me of those Japanese soldiers in the Philippines who just found out a few years ago that World War II was over…
There are always going to be a few that hold out. Every person is different – some have a lot more invested emotionally than others.
The question is what happens to the rest – many of them will just go silent and stop posting and reading the pro-Hillary sites, and I suppose the only way you would be able to tell is to watch the internet traffic.
When her supporters leave, they may just take a break from politics for a while. They might go work on their gardens or some such instead of reappearing elsewhere on the internet. In 2004 I remember when Kerry first had it sewn up, and I (and many others) were very ambivalent about him. Gradually I warmed up a bit to him.
Obama needs to pull her aside and say firmly, “You will not be VP. You will not be part of this administration. Period”
He needs to be clear and firm on this or his candidacy and administration is doomed from the start. He’ll look like a wimp. And there is now way Obama wants to deal with this sort of crap every day from Bill and Hillary.
More so, if he doesn’t stop this right now, we are headed to effectively three parties. As the now nominated head of the party he needs to tell he to get in line.
Now if she wants to talk about Senate Majority Leader, possibly a promise of Supreme Court nomination (she’d never get confirmed though), or something of the like, then that more approapriate.
If she wants to talk about adopting some of her policy ideas that her “18 million voters” think are so important to be heard, then fine. Talk. They are not hugely different from a policy stand point anyway and Hillary can boast at the convention to her supporters that she won them some concessions.
Obama needs to pull her aside and say firmly, “You will not be VP. You will not be part of this administration. Period”
Word. Send Obama the memo.
Senate majority leader? She’s the Junior Senator from New York, with barely 8 years of experience in that body. She can’t even maintain discipline of her own campaign staff, message or funding. She can’t even keep her own husband on message in public. She does not command the discipline to get her Senate colleagues in line, even if she is an articulate speaker.
Hillary Rodham Clinton is an intelligent, talented woman. If the citizens of New York want her to continue to serve as their Senator, that’s their business. Neither Obama nor her Senate colleagues are required to give her a compensation prize.
