One look at the map around the Caspian sea tells us why. That inland sea, as is well known, has an enormous potential as an oil source.Already the wells at Baku are large producers and nations like Armenia,Azerbaijan,Turkmenistan,Tajikistan are clamoring to develop their fields or discover new ones. One might say that the US has all these countries well under its thumb.
Iraq, which is practically swimming in oil, has been conquered by the thugs of the Bush administration,It is not too far from the Caspian basin.Iran is the only power, rich in oil and natural gas, that is not yet under the control of the US.What is worse is that the delivery of these fuels to the markets in India or China would require laying a pipeline through Iran to a port in West Pakistan. So, one might say that Iran is the last piece of the jigsaw puzzle that the US needs to have.
Following our usual practice of demonizing a country before invading it and stealing their resources, the demonizing has been going on for quite sometime. The Israelis have of course chimed in like an Amen chorus accusing Iran of developing enriched Uranium for weapons. The US will continue this drum beat until the day of invasion.Mrs.Clinton, who is well schooled in the art of abetting Bush’s invasions while professing to be against them, has already threatened to “obliterate ” Iran and will keep ratcheting up the volume on cue.
The invasion of Iran has nothing to do with nuclear weapons. It is about the need of the hegemons for other people’s resources. That groundwork has already been laid with the invasion of Iraq.Iran will complete the ringing of the Caspian Sea with American lap dogs.
Not sure that most would agree about adding Israel to the mix concerning the motivation behind Iraq and the drumbeating against Iran: Big Oil.
Israel one would suppose wants to be the only nuclear power in the Middle East, and as our ally, America probably wants to see this exclusivity remain intact, even if Big Oil motivates us more than Israel’s security. Still, in the end, Bush was able to say: “it (Iraq’s invasion) will make Israel more secure.”
More balance is needed in unravelling the intrigue. Israel’s push toward getting the US to attack Iran’s nuclear facilities would seem to have more to do with its own bogus interests in “existing,” its latest propaganda meme, than oil.
It beguiles me that Israel could believe that if the US (instead of Israel) attacked Iran, it would not be subjected to retaliation from Iranian missiles.
I’d be interested in knowing when the last time an Iranian missile was successfully tested to a distance that would reach Israel (I know they claim the Shahab-3 can go 1300 miles, but has it ever?). Like Saddam, they have a history of habitually overstating their ability to project power outside their own borders – and for all the same reasons. Anyone got that 411?
Israel provides the fog our hegemons need to divert attention away from their agenda of waging war for resources. When Israel is involved our media goes apeshit about Israel’s security even though that may not be an issue at all in many of the wars the U.S. is waging.
Another war for oil. Same thing as Iraq.
This has another dimension to it.If Iran and Iraq are brought under American control, two of the most important oil producers in the Caspian basin will have been secured for American hegemonic needs.By connecting this war for oil related hegemony of the Caspian sea to Israeli security, the US is playing a very clever game that is going to have unforeseen consequences one of which, oil at $200 a barrel is fast becoming a reality.
