When were on vacation, this guy in the gardens on Isola Bella totally cracked me up:

All flash, no substance. Does he even have a good job?
No, but he has a nice car.
Only other teenage boys care about a pimped out ride.
Hah! I love how indifferent she looks..
“I’ve seen that line before, big boy”
I love this photo. Thanks, Cabin.
Andi’s and my photos from our trip to the jungles of Central Kentucky are up now.

Off to ride my bike now.
Good morning all! That’s a great shot CG.

Spain won their only previous piece of silverware in this competition in 1964 and had not been beyond the quarter-finals of any competition in 24 years, yet Luis Aragonés’s men have chosen to use that history as an inspiration rather than a burden. After a strong start from Germany, seeking a fourth title themselves, Spain were the more dangerous side throughout an entertaining final at the Ernst-Happel-Stadion although it took just one goal – in the 33rd minute, courtesy of Torres’s pace, perseverance and an unerring finish – to end their long wait.
As an aside … just happen to fly to Barcelona early Monday morning for a week’s holiday. FIESTA BARCA!
"But I will not let myself be reduced to silence."
Cool, curly and I had a week there back in September 2006. What’s on your schedule?
Short week 🙂

Yay for short weeks! Oh wait, that means I have to have all my work finished BEFORE Friday. Whoops.
Okay then how about yay for long walks … because that’s what I’m heading out to do.
Have a good one.
Yea for long walks!
Also, yea for ratification votes happening today after we’ve been at the negotiating table for a year. That’s is where I am headed today. I will be very happy when this is over. I just want to know for sure that I don’t have to look at that lawyer’s (who lied several times) face again.
Congratulations on finally getting to a vote! I hope you came out well.
Morning Folks!!!! Just wanted to let everyone know that the Diva Dogs and I have landed in a good place. Two blogging buddies and their 5 dogs and 7 cats have taken us in. LOL The Diva Dogs are finally part of a pack. We are living on 3 acres out in the country and it is quite peaceful. I will be taking lots of pictures but here is one of the curls curled up under the desk I am using.
Good news, rf. I know you all will thrive on the country life.
I’ll be on the lookout for those photos. This one is pretty much what every pack does when the leader sits at his desk. Mine usally heads for my bed.
It will be fun I think. I have already taken some fun pictures of some of the cats. LOL I will start taking the camera with me on walks.
Those are great (I especially like the last one). And it’s great you ended up somewhere so congenial.
I’m happy for you, RF.
I’m sort of in the same situation – my husband is moving out and a year from now, when we sell the house, I’ll have to support myself and find some place to live on $10 an hour, or whatever high school graduates make after raising kids for 25 years.
I’m glad to be rid of the cheating bastard, but pissed as hell that I am in this situation. I know a year is a long time and things will probably start to look better before it is up, it’s just hard to see that from here.
I am glad you will be rid of him also but hate that you are going through this. It seems hard to believe I am going through this type of situation again but at least I did not go into the depths of despair I did in ’06 & ’07. Life throws you curve balls but this time I am not letting it take me down. LOL
You have great tenacity. Hope I can muster half of it.
You will. WE all do what we have to do and are never asked to do more than we can. LOL
Well, you can always practice by mustering half RF’s (and my) enthusiasm for cute-butt men in lycra.
Yeah, I don’t think I ever lost that. And with gas over $4.00 a gallon there has been a dramatic increase in bike riders along the roadways. Mmmm….
Yeah, the local opportunities for sightseeing definitely pick up in summer. 🙂
Sorry to hear this. It’s an old and tired saying, but I’m sure that things will work out for the best.
thanks, boran. 🙂
Sorry to hear about your lousy situation. I left my first marriage 27 years ago with only an old beat up flatbed truck, my carpenter tools and a backpack. I can relate. Now at least I have a roof over my head, as long as I can make the mortgage payment, cause the bank owns more of the roof than I do. My mom found a very nice subsidized apartment a couple of blocks from me after my dad died and she was just on social security and some modest investments. I suppose places like that are pretty rare though. I’ve got a feeling you’ll be ok. Sending supportive vibes;-)
Thanks, ID. This makes two failures for me and I am completely done with marriage…. 🙂
That’s great news, RF!
Thanks
That sounds great, refinish69! At least the critters all seem compatible. Our 2 cats are so grouchy they have the house split into halves for their territories.
I was trying to decide when you have Friday off if that made Tuesday Hump Day but I’m guess I’m a hidebound traditionalist because it just seemed wrong.
Morning/afternoon/evening* all.
* keres, we miss you.
Good morning, Andi!
Well, hump day for the week, or not – it is the Hump Day for the year!
I never thought of it that way, but you’re right.
I don’t know whether to be happy about that or not. 🙂
Closing in on retirement… 😉
Hmm. I think I have far enough to go on that one that I would rather have time go a little slower for now. 😉
Speaking of time passing by, isn’t it almost time for the annual trip to Norway?
Hi CG, need more coffee, I thought the response was from Andi…
Yes, asklet leaves for camp on Friday – I still have 2 weeks to go. swimmer will be done with her trip soon, and we’ll all meet at the summer house in late July.
Good morning … again. 🙂
Well that’s a thought … except I’m in no hurry for the year to be over. I have to admit I’m a bit daunted about getting closer to the big 60 (2010).
I feel that way about the big 5-0 in a couple of years. Sorry to all of you who are on the other side of that, but it just seems OLD.
On that happy note….good morning everyone! 🙂
What age is old is all relative, isn’t it.
And Giddy says waiting for me to get off the internet and get outside is getting old, so I’m off.
Ta.
Here is some more of the pack where we are staying.

great pics, RF! What a dog’s life!
I loved ’em, especially the group sniff. 🙂
Good morning Andi, Ask, SN and RF.
I slept late again today. I was up late with FMom again last night. She had a bad nose bleed last night for some reason.
RF I like those pictures.
SN I was reading what’s going on with you. When FDad passed away FMom had been a housewife all of her life and still had my two youngest brothers in grade school. She went out and took the test for state employment and got a job as a receptionist at the health department. I was thinking about that when I read what’s happening to you. That might be an idea for you. Anyway, I hope things work out for you.
That’s a good thought FM.
That’s funny, you’re not the first one to suggest that option to me. Thanks, FM! You know, I might just end up pitching a tent out by your pond and then you can bring me pimento cheese sandwiches and iced tea.
You can add me to the list of people who think that sounds like a good idea…is there some way the ad litem thing can morph into a paid position?
I’m so disillusioned about that whole process anyway and doubt I have the heart to do it full time. The problems are so big and the solutions are mostly choosing the least bad option…
True enough. The family court system could leave anyone who comes in contact with it scarred for life, and it frequently does.
I have no doubt that you’ll be able to land on your feet. 🙂
I’ll have the tent, pimento cheese sandwiches and sweet tea ready for you. And just to make it more special for you, I’ll throw up the tent by the out house. That way you won’t have to walk to far. 🙂
As long as it’s also near the cement pond I’ll be happy as a cat in a sardine factory, bless yer heart.
Well of course it near the cement pond. Where do you think we have the out house draining to. 😉
Eeeeewwwwwww….
Well at least you won’t get that chlorine taste when you go swimming. 😉
There’s always Canada!
and weekend minus 1.

Good morning, Andi!
Overslept and it really feels good.
Good morning Andi! I hope that you had a nice walk.
Good morning! Just a quick hello on my way out the door…
Today is day two of potty learning boot camp. No luck yesterday. I hope he hits the target today instead of holding it all in.
Aiai – big fun.
Hope he picks up on the advantages of soil-free diapers soon.
Morning all!!! wanted to prove there are cats here as well as dogs. LOL The Diva Dogs are getting use to living with 5 dogs and countless cats(I think 7).
I’m thinking I’ll invest in Swiffer and Claritin stock…
Morning, RF. 🙂
LOL Luckily, I am not allergic to animals. and I finally did a full count on the cats and there are ten of them. LOL
I have two, but they hate each other so much that one of them lives outside and refuses to come into the house. And still there are tumbleweeds of cat hair. I can’t imagine with 10 cats and half a dozen dogs.
Lots of sweeping and vacuuming. LOL One of the cats is a total recluse that I have only seen once. There is also a neighbor dog who seems never to leave. LOL They all get along but there are tense moments especially as they all get use to the Diva Dogs.
Good luck with that. My son didn’t get potty training until he was about 4 1/2. Had it gone on any longer we would have had to use towels for diapers.
I always wondered why they made Huggies to fit “toddlers” up to 55 lbs…. 🙂
and then depends for 56 lbs and up LOL
LOL…you got that right!
The lady asked her brother to take care of the baby while she went away for the week-end. When she returned , she freaked out because the babies diaper was filled with three days of use. When she confronted her brother about it, he showed her the box of diapers & where it said good for 12 to 18 pounds.
Oh, that’s priceless… 🙂
Good morning everyone.
I’m running late today. This is just a hi/bye because I’ve got to take FMom to the doctor. Nothing big, just some lab test.
Hope everyone is doing fine.
or more precisely a semi-YAWN since I did get a few hours sleep. Yeech.
Good morning Andi.
You beat me on sleep by a few hours. Not a wink of it last night. Just as well though, because my brother and sil showed up day before yesterday and they’re like a hurricane coming through the house. So I got a lot of cleaning done last night.
Any big plans for this w/e?
… both the sleep and the rels.
Nothing much planned for the long weekend — walking and bike riding. My mom is coming down to my older sister’s to stay a couple days and we’re going over there (she just lives 20 miles away) on Saturday.
That’s cool on going over to your older sisters. I don’t think we have any plans for this weekend. If it works out like it usually does, I’ll put the lawn chairs out in the front yard for FMom and myself and on the 4th we’ll watch the fireworks the town will be shooting. I don’t know if any of the rest of the family will be down.
When we lived in Evansville, Indiana, the city put on a huge fireworks show on a barge in the Ohio river. Eight years of that seems to have exhausted (purposely avoiding “burned up”) our need to watch fireworks.
I guess I’m still like a kid. I love to watch fireworks. I especially like to watch them where I don’t have to worry about crowds and traffic. I’d rather watch them and be rather slackerly at the same time. 🙂
Me too, I love fireworks. I haven’t really seen any since moving down here. Tomorrow the (grown) kids and I are going to watch them from the air conditioned glass atrium where a friend of mine works. The best of both worlds….free food and beer, AC, and no bugs or crowds!
Good morning SN.
Geeze don’t you have it made. I agree completely that is the best of both worlds.
Yep, and if we step out onto their lakeside patio, we can hear the NC Symphony playing…
Is George afraid of fireworks?
With the Symphony too that is just too cool. I think George is afraid of them, but with him he always barks. So I’m not sure if he’s afraid or just pissed off.
Maybe he’s trying to protect you. I don’t think my dog even notices, but she’s only ever heard the illegal neighborhood-type fireworks. She just half opens one of her eyes and then starts snoring again.
I wish George was like that. I used to look forward to him getting older in the hopes that would calm down his barking. No such luck though. 🙂
Wow, AC and fireworks at the same time? CAn’t get any better than that, can it?
That sounds like fun.
I think we’ll be watching the Philly fireworks from someone’s roofdeck – hopefully we’ll be able to see them.
Good morning CG.
That sounds pretty cool watching them from a roof top. The last good fireworks show I saw we were so close that when they exploded it was like a bomb went off by you, and you could feel the shock wave from it.
That sounds like almost too good a view, FM.
That was the last fireworks show that I went to that I had to fight the crowds and gridlock traffic trying to get out of the park. The one good thing about that fireworks show was that they had all sorts of arts/crafts and food booths set up during the day. It was a good all round day.
Sounds very relaxing. We have a few parties and a family get-together – on each day.
I cna’t remember tbe last time that happened.
Bye FM, CG, and SN. I’m off to go walk in the rain.
Hope everybody has a good day.
Have a good walk Andi and try to stay dry.
I think I’m following Andi out the door. George is starting to whine to go outside, and I hear the rels starting to stir.
Everyone have a good day ahead of you.
Good morning to all the early risers. Another hot one here and rain is predicted for much of the weekend. Anybody got an inside barbecue?
for Fridays when I don’t have to work. Happy No Work Day to everybody who has the day off.

Good morning, Andi!
I like the way you play with light.
Enjoy the long weekend!
Thanks ask. The way the light is always changing and being changed in the woods fascinates me.
I plan too (even though it’s rainy). Hope you have a fine time too.
Good morning Andi & ask! As ask has mentioned, your woods are lovely this morning.
Morning Folks!!!!
Wow! That got my eyelids fully open! Nice graphic and Happy 4th back to ya!
LOL Thanks!!! and same to you and yours
Are you going to some fireworks today or are you counting on the all those dogs and cats to provide them. 🙂
LOL I think we are cooking out but no fireworks.
Don’t we wish the woods were really lovely like that this morning. I hope the rain gets past us pretty soon.
Is there a parade in town?
It is just a bit dreary, isn’t it? No parades that I’m aware of, just the community fireworks at the school football/track field.
There are, however, some interesting hummingbird skirmishes at the feeder this morning between a couple of ruby-throats. Sassy the cat watches, tail twitching furiously.
Watching the next batch of rain approaching, I’m predicting that’s going to be one wet, muddy football field.
We’re under gold(finch) alert here.
Good morning Andi, ask, and ID. Happy Fourth/Friday you don’t have to work!
Yay, no work today! Good morning CabinGirl! Hope you have some fun stuff on the agenda. We’re having an evening cookout at my fire station (next door to the community fireworks). Mrs. Dem made homemade cheesecake yesterday. Yum!
Mm, that looks good. I’m making blueberry pies today we have parties/barbecues all weekend long. Looks like we’ll just be social butterflies for the next few days.
Got any exciting plans for the holiday?
Party tonight, party tomorrow, family get-together Sunday. Cleaning this morning and some cooking…and I need to get the picture for my driver’s license taken. I’m going to try and do that tomorrow with the thought that most people have better things to do than go to the DMV on the Saturday after the fourth of July.
Are you going to be able to get a bike ride in? It’s looking dismal here this morning.
Yay for free health care in Canada!
The Nature Girl had an accident and broke her neck, her arm and her wrist. She’s okay actually, as scary as that sounds.
Hey, that’s a lot of drama – what’s going on?
We had our own share of drama yesterday; had to take young asklet to the emergency room with suspected appendicitis. The doctors also thought so, but cat-scan came back normal and pain eventually subsided. He is still on the watch list in case pain returns today.
She’s spending the summer in Lillooet, BC – building a straw bale house. She had a bad fall, an hour long trip to the tiny local ER, where x-rays showed the compound fracture in her humerus and also a suspected neck fracture. Then a three-hour ambulance trip to a bigger hospital for a CT scan…all the while strapped of course to a back board and in a neck brace. The neck fracture scared me to death waiting as I was three time zones away, but it turned out to be minor. All in all she was very lucky, both physically and that it happened in Canada, because here in the real world she is uninsured and it would be tens of thousands of dollars of medical bills.
Aiai – that is a bit too much. I take it you have been able to speak with her. When is she coming home?
Has the asklet been indulging in strange food combinations? Hope it was just an errant bubble.
Maybe – he’s been drinking regular milk lately instead of lactose reduced on the theory that he had grown out of the problem. It worked for a while, but maybe came back with a vengance.
He still feels a bit tender, but that is probably residual pain from yesterday. He is acting quite chipper – maybe because his scheduled departure for Norway/camp this afternoon is at stake.
Ugh…medical drama all around this week, huh?
I hope he is okay, and that you don’t wind up making another emergency trip to the hospital.
Oh no! Glad she’s ok.
Were you able to get any sleep last night?
I slept from 4 AM to about 8. Funny thing about getting good news after being so worried – it sort of energizes you. 🙂
Either that or you’re already so wired, you can’t really relax.
But I’m glad you at least slept for a few hours.
Ouch!!!!
Holy crap. Are you headed up there today?
Nope, she’s got a pseudo mother up there who is hosting her and she’s been with her the whole time. I’ll find out more today but she may only be in the hospital one more day and then recuperating at “home” up there. The woman is an herbalist/shaman 🙂 and is very motherly.
I’m going to post a new cafe and link back to this one…see you on the other side!
satellite connection is going.
Hope all the news about Ryan continues to be as positive as it can be, SN.
See y’all later.
