Snoop Dogg cancels Israeli gig

Last week, Mark Elf of Jews sans frontieres reported this latest development in the boycott and divestment effort against Israel until it provides a fair and just settlement of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Of late, this has meant creating a sovereign contiguous independent Palestinian nation (as Bush declared in January, 2008), and dealing fairly with all of the associated issues.

So the peace effort continues with nonviolent protests on the ground in occupied Palestine, and around the world activity to divest/boycott Israel among other actions.

Israel in Doggie-do as Snoop cries off is Elf’s title for this story.

Great news!! According to Ynet, Snoop Dogg has developed some logistical difficulties when it comes to playing Israel. Those logistical difficulties are proving to be so logistically difficult that he won’t be playing Israel after all. But the logistical difficulties diminish by the time we get from the article’s sub-heading and they become “contractual difficulties” in the main body of the article.

Ynet’s story was just a little more subdued: Snoop Dogg cancels Israeli gig

Rapper slated to perform in Rishon Lezion Amphitheater reneges on tour date citing logistical difficulties

Another one bites the dust: Despite previous press announcements, famous rapper Snoop Dogg’s scheduled performance at the Rishon Lezion Amphitheater has been canceled, sources in the production told Ynet Wednesday.

A source in the production said that the concert has been called off due to “contractual difficulties” between the artist and the producers; and not because of low ticket sales. The production team was given the cancellation notice over the phone Tuesday.

Elf claims that the list of artists calling off their proposed gigs in Israel is growing. And he asks: “Now what excuses can we find for McCartney, Morrisey, New York Dolls, etc?”

If Israel were ever to take up Bush’s prescription for peace:

There should be an end to the occupation that began in 1967. The agreement must establish Palestine as a homeland for the Palestinian people, just as Israel is a homeland for the Jewish people. These negotiations must ensure that Israel has secure, recognized, and defensible borders. And they must ensure that the state of Palestine is viable, contiguous, sovereign, and independent.

Then I suspect that Snoop Dog will eventually show up.
