Bill Haas seems like a regular guy with no clue about how to run for office. Miraculously, it looks like he has won a five-way primary to be the Democratic nominee in Missouri’s Second District. This was a seat that might have been competitive but I don’t see it that way now. Someone should have told Mr. Haas that people don’t care about the sorry state of his love life or his three legged cat.
There were other primaries tonight. In Georgia, Jim Martin defeated Vernon Jones to become the Democratic nominee in the race against Senator Saxby Chambliss. This is excellent news and this race should now be competitive.
In Detroit, it looks highly possible that Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick will be ousted from Congress by upstart Mary Waters. Waters doesn’t even appear to have a website but she did have a devastating attack ad that hammered Kilpatrick over the criminal indictments of her son Kwame, the mayor of Motown.
The race is currently too close to call. It also looks like Kenny Hulsof has won the Republican nomination for governor of Missouri. He’ll be taking on Jay Nixon. There doesn’t appear to be any other surprises in tonight’s elections.
