While this is totally commendable on Gov. Kathleen Sebelius’ part, it does not strike me as the likely schedule for a vice-presidential pick.
Sebelius to Speak to National Gathering of Stonewall Democrats on Saturday
Who: Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius. Also, Mayor Denise Simmons (Cambridge, MA) – the only openly-lesbian African American Mayor in the Nation. National LGBT Democratic leaders, Party Officials.
What: Dinner of the Stonewall Democrats National Convention – a Gathering of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Democrats and Convention Delegates.
When: Saturday, August 23, 7:00 pm (Note: Gov. Sebelius is scheduled to speak promptly after 7:00 pm)
Where: Renaissance Hotel Denver – 3801 Quebec Street – Denver, CO 80207 – Ballroom A/B (This is on the Lower Level)
I’m sure that the Stonewall Democrats would be quite understanding if Sebelius had to cancel at the last moment, but I’m equally sure that if she is selected as Obama’s running mate she won’t be racing to Denver to keep this appointment. The fact that she even scheduled this event is courageous, and perhaps telling.
With NBC reporting that Gov. Kaine and Sen. Bayh have been informed that they are not the pick, it’s looking increasingly likely that Joey Biden is The One. Yet, I still have a sneaking suspicion that the Obama Camp is ready to spring a surprise. I get no sense that the surprise will be Clinton. But a Gore pick could really blow everyone’s mind.
