You’ll enjoy the convention coverage on CSPAN much more than what you get on cable news. First of all, they are pumping out the funk and the delegates are getting down. It’s a wonderful, diverse crowd, and Joey Biden is working it, going from one state delegation to the next gladhanding people. Most of all it is good to see our people, the people that worked and got themselves elected as delegates to this convention, getting along and having a great time. There are some good speakers and videos, too, that you won’t see on cable.
If you want to be outraged, watch cable. If you want to enjoy this, watch CSPAN.
Yeah, what the fuck? I turned on CNN and saw their panel including Bill Bennett, Alex Castellanos, Ed Rollins and a couple other schmucks. I hope they are going to have a panel of Dem operatives controlling the narrative at the GOP convention next week.
that’s CNN’s panel? Jesus.
Since all of my political friends are following him, I guess I should know who he is, but his name is only vaguely familiar to me. At any rate, I’ve been following his tweets via Friendfeed and he’s made some interesting observations regarding CNNs coverage.
I’ll never understand why people bother with the cable news, when CSPAN gives you all the goods. I flip over to MSNBC to see what the chuckleheads have to say then run back.
I thought the Kennedy appearance was quite moving. I hope Teddy will be able to keep his promise to be there after inauguration day.
The torch passed again. That was very sad. I will miss him when he is gone.
Newshour tonight spent at least 30 minutes talking about Hillary and Democratic disunity. I could not stand it.
At least the Dems know how to party and boogie. Give some love for Teddy.
Ya know, the Clintons are doing a sabotage job, but I’m going to try to ignore it. Their petulance dwarfs Mt. Rushmore, but we can’t do their job for them and take the bait.
Had mentioned that they’d probably look back and realise they wasted so many hours on the PUMA people. Matthews is calling them whackjobs, and all the politicians are dismissing them as fringe and saying that the people inside the hall aren’t on board.
I do not doubt that the Clintons are behind all of this. Reading transcripts from cable news shows the past 3 weeks, it was all Clinton surrogates starting up this whole media campaign. And now there’s the boring media reports of beef between Bill and Barack…just creating drama.
This “Dont Know Much” Ad is pretty good.

Sticking with PBS and the excellant commentary from Shields and Brooks, and the panel of American historians. If you want to learn a thing or two, tune in. Fascinating. The Ted salute was moving because it was sincere and backed with accomplishments.
What happened to Shields and Yarnell?
I agree Shegald about the historians take on things and I did learn a few interesting tidbits. My comments were about the Newshour hosts asking almost every question in the prism of a Obama/Clinton feud. The narrative did not change and the “people do not know” Obama crap is bunk too.
BTW, Jim Leach is the only Republican that I have ever voted for in my life. He pissed me off with the banning internet gambling bill attached to Port legislation but he is a real gentleman with knowledge and conviction.
My outrage started as a comment but ended up a diary.
Back in 1993 there was a war between Kennedy and Moynihan over whose committee would have jurisdiction over HillaryCare.
Moynihan won and then he essentially killed the bill in the Finance Committee, now chaired by Baucus.
Tonight, both John Kerry and Chris Dodd went on teevee and said that Kennedy’s committee would be shepherding the health care bill thought the Senate.
That would be a coup.
Considering the situation, it’s a coup that Baucus would probably be helpless to stop, but still. It’s interesting.
I forgot about that. Didn’t she take Moynihan’s seat when he retired?
The Michelle video narrated by her mom was great. Since her brother is now talking, I have to say, GO BEAVERS!!
(Her brother is the new coach of Oregon State basketball)
This whole thing is emotional the tribute to Michele’s family and here truly being taken aback by the cheers for her. We are watching real history an incredible moment for our country. This is where we begin to salvage whats left of our souls. Now back to Michele.
Michelle ROCKS!!!!! I’m so glad I got to see her live in Los Angeles, with Caroline Kennedy and Maria Shrive and Oprah. As you can see now, she owned the stage even among that stellar company. She’s amazing.
That was incredible. What a speech. Wow!
I am watching Fox News. Juan Williams is about to cry in happiness for African American pride. He is cracking up. What does Juan Williams know about the “black community?”
Need to find a YouTube clip of that.
Juan really gets on my nerves most of the time, and I think he can be an ass. But he’s like Bill Cosby–he’s wants to see the Black Community excel, and there are parts of us that are not. I think that rankles him. He thinks we should be further along.
But I think he needs to be part of the solution, and shilling for Faux News DOES. NOT. HELP.
Of course, he’s human, too, and if he grew up like my parents, seeing Michelle Obama and seeing her family–that’s a real affirmation for him, and it probably was overwhelming.
Shocker, Kristol hates the speech!! Also, he was upset that she did not mention by name the Ivy League Kristol and Michelle shared.
and Brit Hume is apoplectic that the democrats aren’t talking about Rev Wright
thank god for cspan
tho i do believe KO on MSNBC is doing a bang up job
Howard Wolfson was on Fox a minute ago and said that gergen and carville are wrong in saying it was a wasted night. he says tonight sends an important message and sets up tuesday, wednesday, and thursday.
i think Hillary and Bill and Joe will be the heavy hitters….the attack dogs
is OUTRAGEOUS.
Every single FUCKING question is “How are the Democrats going to unite?”
I have given to my local NPR outlet for 40 years, and I am really outraged. This is such biased coverage that I am spitting mad.
