Democratic vice-presidential nominee Joe Biden said yesterday that he and running mate Barack Obama could pursue criminal charges against the Bush administration if they are elected in November.

Biden’s comments, first reported by ABC news, attracted little notice on a day dominated by the drama surrounding his Republican counterpart, Alaska governor Sarah Palin.

But his statements represent the Democrats’ strongest vow so far this year to investigate alleged misdeeds committed during the Bush years.

“If there has been a basis upon which you can pursue someone for a criminal violation, they will be pursued,” Biden said during a campaign event in Deerfield Beach, Florida, according to ABC.

“[N]ot out of vengeance, not out of retribution,” he added, “out of the need to preserve the notion that no one, no attorney general, no president — no one is above the law.”

“Misdeeds committed during the Bush years”

If not in the U.S.A, there are prosecutors standing by in Europe waiting for the 20th, January 2009. Misdeeds will include war crimes.

Let’s add the financial crimes to the pot. The worse financial crisis in seventy years. A Bush economy built on the export of fraudulent bonds. Overseas investors will demand repayment. The next eight weeks are a danger zone for false flag events.

You can bet the farm that BushCheney will pull out ALL to get McSame and sidekick Palin elected. It is happening now as our eyes are wide shut—the manipulation of oil prices to under $108 / bbl as I write and gasoline prices headed towards $3.50 and lower for election day as was predicted. McCain is their man. They know the election will be decided on kitchen table issues.

“Operation Keep the Hill” is on, in full mode, to paint a picture of robust business health and declining prices. They’ll have us forget that Freddie, Fannie, Lehman and another 200 banks are busted. So too the FDIC. BUSTED. The Feds’ begging bowl is now well over a trillion.

They’re hoping and praying their con job will last until election day.

Sept. 4 (Bloomberg) — The U.S. government needs to start using more of its money to support markets to stem a burgeoning “financial tsunami,” according to Bill Gross, manager of the world’s biggest bond fund.

Banks, securities firms and hedge funds are dumping assets, driving down prices of bonds, real estate, stocks and commodities, Gross, co-chief investment officer of Newport Beach, California-based Pacific Investment Management Co., said in commentary posted on the firm’s Web site today. Since financial markets seized up a year ago as the subprime-mortgage market collapsed, the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index has fallen 13 percent and home prices are down more than 15 percent.

“Unchecked, it can turn a campfire into a forest fire, a mild asset bear market into a destructive financial tsunami,” Gross said. “If we are to prevent a continuing asset and debt liquidation of near historic proportions, we will require policies that open up the balance sheet of the U.S. Treasury.”

The government needs to replace private investors who either don’t have the money to buy new assets or have been burned by losses, Gross said.

don’t hold your breath. but you can rest assured that a great many people of less stellar/protected status are going to ‘go down’, as it were…and l don’t mean the enjoyable way.

perhaps this might have more to do, along with his dismal approval ratings, with dick “dick” cheney going awol on the rnc:

A former colleague of the US Vice-President, Dick Cheney, has pleaded guilty to funnelling millions of dollars in bribes to win lucrative contracts in Nigeria for Halliburton, during the period in the Nineties when Mr Cheney ran the giant oil and gas services company.

Albert Stanley, who was appointed by Mr Cheney as chief executive of Halliburton’s subsidiary KBR, admitted using a north London lawyer to channel payments to Nigerian officials as part of a bribery scheme that landed some $6bn of work in the country over a decade.

The guilty plea, announced yesterday, came after a four-year investigation by US attorneys and threatens to stir up old controversies just as eyes are trained on the Republican party convention. Mr Cheney, who pulled out of an address to the convention because of Hurricane Gustav earlier this week, led Halliburton from 1995 until returning to government in 2000.

l don’t, and l would counsel you to not, count on the people responsible for the past 8 years to ever be held accountable for anything, at least not within the u.s. judicial system…regardless the outcome of the election.

On foreign soil a Pinochet event awaits as charges have been prepared. Immunity from prosecution at home will not save them.
