Do you see what happens, John McCain?
(CNN) –Cindy McCain, wife of Republican presidential nominee John McCain, criticized the media at a weekend fundraiser, telling supporters that the hosts of The View “picked our bones clean.”
“In spite of what you see …in the newspapers, and on shows like The View — I don’t know if any of you saw The View yesterday, they picked our bones clean — in spite of what you see, that’s not what the American people are saying and what they are believing,” said McCain, in a recording obtained by ABC News. “They are now seeing a clear difference with these candidates, and they are seeing who is going to make the best president, and that’s why we’re pulling ahead.”
If you had vetted her, you would still be making the press cheeseburgers on your giant grill.
We’re weeping, Cindy, we’re weeping. Um, would you like a Vicodin?
As I wrote in an earlier comment, according to Thomas Edsall, the McCain campaign made the decision that it can afford to alienate the press, on the assumption that the public doesn’t trust the press anymore, so that McCain getting unfavorable coverage from the media will not hurt him enough to make him lose the election.
We shall see in the coming weeks whether McCain was right in betting that he doesn’t need the press anymore.
That may be the case, but I’d still rather have the press on my side than rallied against me.
So would the McCain people. They evidently decided that given how tarnished the Republican brand has become, the only way they stand a chance of winning is to engage in voter manipulation to a degree that not even Lee Atwater and Karl Rove had reached for. How the press responds and how that affects public opinion was a risk they considered worth taking.
The postmodern media doesn’t believe in “accuracy” or “untruth”, they just report on the various stories. There is no absolute truth, they’d say, only points of view.
Of course, the self defeating nature of that perspective would be immediately manifest whenever one of them might try to step in front of a speeding train – they would quickly become quite, if briefly, acquainted with objective reality.
Well, if the press had another reason to take him down, it might be if they had anything in the stock market. Lehman is declaring bankruptcy and the market is looking very bad.
Repugs are playing the victim card..when they are confronted with truth. I like her riches to richer story.. only in America can a 100 million dollar lady have a chance to be 1 st lady.
I wonder if she was wearing one of those 300K outfits.

That gold dress she wore at the Convention was UGLEEEEEEEEE! And really not tasteful at all. I don’t know who dresses her but she needs someone else.
Oh my goodness, it was hideous! If she’s gonna blow 300K like it was sofa change, it should at least look fabulous.
She pissed away $300K on a “fashion don’t”: that’s both fiscally and fashion stupid.
well you could buy 75,000 gallons of gas at $4.00 dollars a gallon, instead of that dress
And you could use a few ounces of it to burn that ugly, tasteless dress!
And somebody PLEASE! Fire that designer. Whoever they are they need to be designing costumes for bad science fiction movies, not real people.
who cares how it looks how many people can afford a 300K outfit..she’s wearing the price of a house..
Don’t you find it kind of pathetic that she spends that much and still ends up looking tacky, tasteless, and just downright silly?! The skirt of the dress didn’t even hang right – a real fashion faux pas. I mean, if I had 7,000 to spend on a single dress (as I recall that was the price of the dress and the rest was accessories, mainly jewelry), I would certainly make sure it was properly designed and constructed, and did not draw attention from me – especially if I was going to make an important speech.
Another example of a real design screw up was Princess Diana’s (may she rest in peace) wedding dress. It was a gorgeous dress, but she was completely buried in that dress. It was just too much dress for her.
i don’t care how she looks, i’m just wondering how a McCain, can be in touch with average person who earns 10.00 dollars an hour when his wife wears a 300K outfit,
that is 15 years of paycheck for a worker at $10.00 dollars an hour, for one outfit
People would kill to have a job worth $300K per year. People would kill for a house worth that much…hell, half as much. I know.
But hey…I might as well mock Queen Cindy the Hideous for her expensive “fashion don’ts” (since we are to treat anything connected with the campaign with “deference”) while I’m at it.
I don’t know. Around here, even after the real estate bubble has burst, you couldn’t find a tin shed for 300,000. But that’s just around here.
here’s the quote on the “$300K outfit”, which is nearly all jewelry. The ugly gold dress was $3000. That’s bad enough.
The ReThuglican addiction for money has finally driven them over the edge. Perhaps, its the market meltdown which is costing these dear old rich folk so many zillions.
What strange times in which we live as the GOP tries to sell its message via propaganda alone. All faithful fascists to the front. Your party needs you. So do John and Sarah – America’s latest item, I mean ticket.
is that as bad as a $400 haircut?
the question is WHO paid for it?

Oh and Cindy STFU…you are already skin and bones from all that percocet.
So who’s footing the bill for tanning sessions? I’d suspect the same folks who are paying her per diems while at home.
