Welcome back.
This week we will be completing the (West) Cape May, New Jersey Victorian house. The photo that I’m using is seen directly below.
I am doing this piece in my usual acrylics and, once again, in an 8×10 format on stretched canvas.
When last seen, the painting appeared as it does in the photo directly below.
Since that time, I have continued to work on the painting.
Many things have received further attention in completing this painting. The foliage has been changed on the right side. The shadowed areas have grown smaller as the green areas have grown larger. On the left side the top of a tall tree can now be seen over the structure to the far left.
A picket fence now encloses the entire property. Note that the fence’s shadow corresponds to that on the house.
Once again, the roof of the structure to the far left has been repainted, now in a grey color that is more consistent with the rest of the painting.
Finally, the driveway and curb are now seen for the first time. Grass grows in the driveway as it does in the photo. And with that, the painting is complete.
The current and final state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.
That’s about it for now. I’ll see you next week with a new painting. As always, feel free to add photos of your own work in the comments section below.
Paint me a picture of your thoughts.
You have to know how much your art is progressing as you go along. It’s just so obvious. Which makes the way you share it so much more interesting. Being able to see you grow as you share is such a privelege.
Thanks for that, Mr. B2 :o)
Thank you ss! I really appreciate your all your kind comments. And all that feedback helps me grow.
I have really enjoyed the transitions on this house. I don’t know why this one seemed to have a different feel to it – maybe because it began in the “night?”
Each week’s “as last seen” photo seemed complete in a way, even the very first one with the brown background and the white outline of the house. I would wonder what you thought to change. Then I would scroll down to the changed painting, not always sure I would want the changes you described. But every week it became different and somehow complete in a new way. Maybe this is what it feels like for people building houses!
Well done, b2! So, when is the gallery showing?
“So, when is the gallery showing?
“
My thougts exactly! :o)
Better yet, when will they be offered for sale as prints or even originals?
Heh! I’m open to any offers. 😉
Thanks tampopo! I was actually reluctant to paint over that first “night” version. It seemed somehow complete to me but I wanted to go in a different direction with this piece. I am satisfied with the end result.
Gallery? I’d love to sell these things someday but I’m really not sure how to go about it.
Try Googling “free artist websites”. Some you can sell through, maybe a way to get “discovered”. I’ve been putting the ones I’ve been posting here on Bobx@Deviantart.
Thanks! I’ll have to try that.
Your site looks great! Is that a free site?
Yes, it is. I can remove the advertising for $30 a year and sell my prints if I choose. Although their prices are low for art photography, so I just use it for a place for people to enjoy the work.
Thanks Bob. I’ve been meaning to join that site for quite some time. Anyhoo, I signed up today: suckingicecubes.
Boran2,
As you know, I follow the progress of your canvases on a regular basis, but more than that, I`ve followed the progression of an artist, which is a more personal involvement for me.
That I, as well as others, see this (Supersoling), is very fulfilling for me.
But I have to say that I really see it in this painting. The jump in technique or maybe how you use it, is really a big leap.
I think now would be a good time to buy one of your canvases, because of the sure investment it is. That you are getting recognition from other artists (again, Supersoling) is the profit from your investment also, & maybe the most rewarding one. I think the painting is very very good.
The subtle grass in the two lane driveway, the shading & colors on the bushes, & on the picket fence are the “tells” of the progression I`m talking about.
EXCELLENT
Thanks KNUCKLEHEAD. I have learned a lot doing these regular posts. And I have really appreciated all your regular comments.
I have to chime in and agree with everyone else. It’s been interesting to watch your paintings evolve over time, and to see how your approach to painting has evolved at the same time.
I love the addition of the little picket fence.
Thank you, CG!
Nicely done Boran2. Looking forward to your next painting. Cheers!
Thanks. Nice work on your new site!
