Old cafe here.
And what a Monday! CBtE is all upset over a girl and doesn’t want to go to school. And having taxied him all over the place for social events all weekend, I have minimal sympathy this morning (I was a good mom about it last night, though).
He’s wondering why the girl he likes but didn’t bother to talk to for a week or two is no longer interested in him…I didn’t say this, but if you’re that interested, wouldn’t you find the time for some text messaging or something?
Ah, the mysteries of the male mind. Maybe someone can explain this to me? 🙂
Morning CG. Just got back from my walk — we’re starting to get some color but the woods are so bedraggled from the big wind storm and the drought, I’m guessing this isn’t going to be a very good fall. Temps in the 50s, though, were lovely.
As for CBtE and thinking back on my own behavior at this age, I think this is your standard teeny-boppers are insane behavior.
standard teeny boppers are insane
How could I have forgotten? He came home in a much better mood, fortunately.
I think everyone likes to forget just how stupid they were. 🙂
I am reminded frequently by someone else’s behavior…
I knew there was a really good reason why we decided not to have kids.
Well guess I’ll go get ready to stumble through the wet and dark. See ya.
Yeah ID, I am with you 200% on stinking daylight savings time. I’m having to go for my walks in the almost-dark.
We change back in November this year, don’t we?
Grrrr. Yes.
Dip your apple slice in honey and join me in wishing everyone A sweet, full year.
Is today a day off for you?
CBtY has a half day of school today,
Nope, I don’t take the day off since I’m not only a non-practicing Jew, I’m an atheist Jew. But I do love the apple-honey tradition.
A half-day is good — that way the poor Jewish kids won’t have to spend all day at the synagogue. 😉
Hey, I’d take the day off just for the food part of the holiday. 🙂
It is so dark out this morning.
We got a little rain last night and it’s really foggy here so it like I’ll not only have to walk in the dark this morning, I’ll have to walk in the wet.
Yesterday was our first dry day since last Wednesday. I couldn’t have stood any more dismal wet…
Happy new year, Andi! We’re off to the kiddie service, after which I will have had my fill of ritual.
Happy new year, boran2!
And a sweet one to you, CG!
I sympathize with you all spending time at the shul — the apple and honey is my only ritual activity. 😉
After another after another — I can’t believe it’s October already.

Good morning, Andi!
That’s beautiful and reminds us of fall.
Fall has started a bit early here because, I think, of the drought — there’s a scattering of yellow, orange, and red in the woods already.
Good morning, ask!
How is your week going?
Good morning, CG!
Morning is going great. Getting up at 5.10 is too early, but on my second cup of joe now, all is well.
Agree with you guys, missing FM in the cafe.
That’s absolutely gorgeous, Andi.
We didn’t have a drought here, but I noticed that our leaves are starting to go yellow, and it feels a little early to me. I’m not quite ready for winter to get here yet…okay, I admit it, with the high cost of heating oil this year, maybe I’ll never be ready.
Well there’s always heating with wood.
And I have the woods to do that, but it irritates my asthma so badly that it’s not a very good option.
I guess we’ll be wearing lots of sweaters this year and spending part of the day at the library (that’s one of the biggest downsides to working at home – you can’t just turn the heat down while you’re away at work all day).
I miss seeing FamilyMan around here.
We went out for a belated birthday dinner with friends last night, and I’m feeling so incredibly full even this morning…how could fish be so filling?
Maybe a walk this morning will help.
Me, too … on both Family Man and the walk, which is where I’m heading shortly. Ta.
I fell asleep before I could head out for the walk…but I’ll be going out at lunchtime after I finish part of what I’m working on.
I miss him also. BTW, it’s my bday today. Happy me!
Happy birthday, boran! Be sure to make a wish before you blow out the candles. 🙂
Happy birthday to you! I hope you have a wonderful day.
show off. 😉
No need to be impressed … it’s store-bought (but don’t tell B2).
I just want to see him blow out all those candles.
I wish that this wasn’t being blocked!
Happy birthday, boran!
Happy birthday boran2! My birthday was just 6 days ago…I guess that makes you 6 days younger 😉
Thanks! Yeah, 6 days younger, I’ll go with that. 😉
Happy Belated Birthday, EJ!
Have some belated ice cream.
Happy belated birthday!!! I hope it was a good one!
Happy Birthday! And yeah, I miss the ole slacker too:-(
the weekend. So almost w00t.
Morning/Afteroon/Evening all.
Good morning, Andi!
Back from the walk and working?
Beatiful, cool morning here.
Good morning ask and andi! It is cool. 55 degees on my car thermometer,
It was wonderfully nippy out — 45° — when I went walking this morning. I loved it.
We’re starting to get some color here.

I don’t know whether to laugh or be scared…
The FFF diary awaits your brilliant contributions (or at least your brilliant eyes).
The theme is Jest for Fun: photos that make you laugh.
Off to check the photos…
which makes up for a lot of crap.
It’s cccold here!
Extra blanket came out last night….
Hi ask! Yep, that extra blanket is needed!
My middle son just moved into his first place, and my oldest son painted this oil portrait of him which completely cracks me up….too bad it’s just a stanky duplex with no fireplace to hang it over…
that you’ve raised geniuses. 🙂
In that non-college sort of way… 😉
The Picture of Colian Gray?
Oh! – that’s priceless!
Isn’t it funny, ID? And it was his first time using oils. He seems like he’s got the hang of it. 🙂
I love it! He must have a terrific sense of humor.
Ah, with me as a mother you have to have a sense of humor!
I forgot to ask earlier, how did the subject of said portrait receive it?
It just so happened that I had a camera and his reaction was as follows:
I can see he’s truly overwhelmed!
That is a reaction to treasure.
Not starting too good for me as Giddy decided you wanted breakfast at 5:22 a.m. Hope everybody else got to sleep as late as you wanted.
Maybe a little color will cheer up my morning.

Good morning!
I was up at about the same time.
Just turned on a fan heater – cold apartment this morning.
Good morning ask! I sneaked around yesterday, turning up our heat when Mrs. Dem was out of the room. Ours is zoned, with a thermostat in each room.
Good morning, Id!
I sneaked around yesterday, turning up our heat…
So, are your heat preferences different, or is she the disciplined energy saver?
I’ve found over the years that her temperature comfort zone is directly proportional to her mood;-) At the moment, she’s being the conscientious energy saver.
Well that’s at least one thing in the dogs’ favor — I can just snuggle up to them for extra warmth.
Nice color ya got there! I’m up early since the Methodists are clattering about down the street setting up their annual fall faire extravaganza. Ah, the trials of town living!
I expect most weekends till the leaves are gone are pretty noisy … all day long. I might be envious of your hi-speed internet and easy access to the Hobnob but that’s about it. 😉
Well, those items are most definitely considerations…
Don’t forget, should you need parking during this less-than-sane period, there are a few spots directly behind our house/office reserved for family & friends. You’re welcome anytime.
I appreciate the offer but I probably won’t need it — on October weekends I pretty much boycott 46 between our house and Bloomington.
Your plan is probably a wise one.
There are comments in the cafe this morning!
Hi everyone! Just popping in for a few before heading out to yoga.
We’re going to see Bruce Springsteen play an acoustic set for Obama in Philly this afternoon. I’m excited because I’ve never seen him play.
Oooooh – I’m jealous!
I mean yoga is nice and all that but jealousy? 😉
Aren’t you funny this morning… 🙂
Bruce was great. Thanks to a friend, we had the “red” tickets, so we were up in the front section where there was actually a little breathing room. I have to upload my pictures this morning, but I’ll try and post some.
How are you today? I feel like a hike in the park is definitely in my future today.
Pretty kewl you got to see “The Boss”!
It was kewl. Now I know why his concerts sell out in seconds flat.
Afternoon — I’m doing fine. We had a lovely walk this morning and have been doing various errands (oh it’s such the fun of taking a huge load of bottles, cardboard, and plastic to the recycling center).
Hope you had a great walk.
I’ve never learned to do anything standing on my head, but Mrs. Dem is an expert, having been a yoga student for many years. I just get dizzy when inverted.
Today is yard sign planting day in town. I’m pretty good at that;-)
Would someone please be kind enough to tell me how to insert a photograph into a comment?
Thanks!
I’m assuming that you have the picture already uploaded. If not, you’ll need to go sign up at a picture-hosting site like Photobucket, Flickr, ImageShack, or Picasa.
To post the picture, you need put the url for the picture in the src attribute of an <img> tag. If the image is bigger than 500 pixels wide, you should the width tag to scale the display down.
The full tag would look like this:
<img src=”http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b25/AndiF/fall08/taggarts2008-09-26.jpg” width=”500″>
Good morning, Andi (I gather Hurria’s post was pre-sleep)!
swimmer has a long weekend coming up, and will be here Fri-Tue. That will be nice, especially for her mother who has not been able to handle the separation too well.
I feel for swimmer’s mother. Babies leaving home is traumatic. 🙁
Ooh, I hadn’t heard of all of those. Thanks.
Wow, it’s messy in here. Where’s the night cleaning crew?
They were deported last week.
… so the day crew hears you too.
Is there anyway I can hand you the broom? 🙂
Good morning Andi! Just another day in paradise;-)
