Even more dramatic was the shift in the voters’ personal reactions to the two candidates. Before the debate, McCain had a 48/46 favorability rating; that improved to 56/36 by the end. But that’s about where Obama started the evening–54/36. After an hour and a half, Obama’s favorability numbers were 80/14. As Joe Biden would say, let me repeat that: 80% of the undecided voters had favorable views of Obama and only 14% saw him negatively for a net rating of +66. Not even Bill Clinton got such a warm response in town hall formats.
So yeah, I was clearly wrong yesterday and just worry too damn much.
mcstain may have gained points with the bigots, but that slur, combined with his cranky old man demeanor throughout and rudeness at the close, certainly didn’t sit well with the group l watched the debate with.
barring some unforeseen, and devastating occurrence in the next 4 weeks, l think mcstan/palin is ready for the fork. he accomplished nothing last night other than alienating a lot of people.
They were airing that Biden speech on CNN. He was on fire. That line was great.
Obama is on now, and had another good line. Paraphrasing: “I can deal with 4 more weeks of McCain attacks. But this country can’t take 4 more years of Bush / McCain policies.”
hey dada, you just made my day..I get to laugh myself silly all day. Only difference with McLame and Gabby is that Gabby made crotchety and cranky look good. For the rest of the campaign I’ll be picturing Johnny-boy as Gabby Hayes…might keep my bp down when he says something extra nasty and stupid.
“You know, the idea here that somehow these guys are once again injecting fear and loathing into this campaign is … I think it’s mildly dangerous. I mean, here you have out there these kinds of, you know, incitements out there — guy introducing Barack using his middle name as if it’s some epitaph or something,” Biden said, apparently confusing the words “epitaph” and “epithet.”
Actually, considering the sick fantasies that some folks have on the right about “doing whatever is necessary to prevent Barack Obama from being President” the word “epitaph” is entirely appropriate in this respect.
There are those out there who indeed want his middle name to be his epitaph.
Go Amy! Thanks for saying something non-controversial, I’m so tired of defending you.

‘…yawn…’
– Wall Street in reaction to a nearly worldwide half point rate cut.
…followed by taking a big dump on my IRA.

“that one” sure got legs in a hurry…

Calling McCain a “sidekick” is a pretty good quote –

he does sort of exude the “gabby hayes persona”…sans beard.

I like English muffins. I had (that) one with lunch. With a pat of butter. Yummy! 🙂
