Not sure whether I should be happy or sad that the week is half over. Too much work left to do.
How is everyone today?
I’m happy. Every day that goes by is a day closer to retirement … theoretically.
How are the boys?
They were miraculously recovered by lunchtime yesterday…and they’re heading back to school today after being told that the next time they claim they’re sick, they’re going anyway.
Ah, that theoretical retirement…I think I’ll settle for being a day closer to the weekend and my yoga class. 😉
It’s gotten really chilly here this week, how about out your way?
That’ll teach ’em. 🙂
Yep, cold here too. There’s frost out there.
We need to start doing something about our leaves, too. I love all the trees in the summer, but could do without the enormous oak leaves that blanket the yard this time of year.
I’ve got leaves too but no raking — the joy of having no neighbors but deer and squirrels. 🙂

And the dogs say that picture is a hint I need to take. See ya later.
Al-Qaeda and Taliban endorse McCain.
‘Morning, all, from the snow-tipped Catskill Mountains . Just another fly-by to say hello & thank you, Andi for today’s glorious images.
Someday soon I may have a chance to hang out a bit & catch up with y’all. Suffice to say it’s been quite a dismal year for yours truly.
Enjoy the day!
Hi ww! It’s always a treat to see you drop in…hopefully you’ll be able to stay and chat next time. 🙂
So great to hear from you and so sorry the year has not been good to you. I hope every day from here on in will be much better.
ww – always nice to see you stopped by and so sorry I missed you. Hopefully there will be an evening when you can fill us in on the details of your life.
Welcome back to the Hudson Valley, WW!
This week’s theme is These are a Few of My Favorite Things: Pictures of people, places, and things that you love
Sounds like a theme I can come up with pictures for…
Excellent. The more the merrier.
Looking forward to it.
Looking forward to seeing what you post.
Good morning!
Had a fun experience on the train to work this morning. In my own cocoon, reading a book and headset on, my bookcase w/BT bumper sticker on next to me on the floor.
Eventually realize that the woman next to me is trying to get contact, as she points to my case. Headset off; ‘I read that blog!’ she says. A good, brief conversation until her stop. Not a diarist, but makes the occasional comment. Good to meet you this morning, Errol!
That is so cool. I never run across anybody while walking with the dogs in the woods who reads BT. 🙁
Ahem.
go to the airport, pick you up, take you to the house, ask you if you want to go for a walk, and then go for the walk, then yes, I have run across someone who reads BT in the woods while walking the dogs. ;P
Actually, “outrun” or “run-over” seems to fit better. 😉
I actually thought about run-over since it fit so well what Sniff and Bebo treatment of you on the futon.
Well, if you’d ever brave the tourists and venture into town…
Hey I was at the County Clerk’s office, the library, and the Hobnob just last Thursday and you were nowhere to be seen. ;P
Well stop in the office, we have chocolate out on the counter to pacify the tax protesters.
That might be more tempting … 😉
Hmmm… where can a person find decent hard rolls in the midwest?
has very good kaisers. But I’ll definitely show up if you put out fried biscuits.
Hey ID, how about getting them wrapped in a pretty little gilt wrapper and on the inside have this quote printed.
Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes: “I like paying taxes. With them I buy civilization.”
Heh – I like that one a lot!
Hah,
I’m sure you all realized that I meant briefcase. Schlepping the bookcase to the PATH is out of the question.
I thought that’s just what liberal elitists called them.
but it’s olivia’s turn and the lazy bum is still in bed. Stay tuned for a link later. 🙂
Oh yeah, say the dogs … and what’s wrong with that.

Good morning!
Lost my connection to the tubes last night and it’s still gone.
But, by sitting in bed, I can piggy-back on a neighbor’s unsecured network (most of the time).
I’ve got connection issues too — it’s raining here so I’m on dial-up. But I don’t really care since I’m happy to trade the satellite connection for that much-needed precip.
Says the person who gets up at 5am — everyone is a lazy bum in comparison (except for ask and CG … 😉
Here is the link to the today’s foto flog: These are a Few of My Favorite Things.
See you all over there! 🙂
Heh. We are all lazy bums compared with she-who-arises-at-five-each-day…
Ayup. 🙂
Well if you two can figure out how to get my body to stay asleep, I’ll be more than happy to join you in lazy-bumness. ;P
Apparently my cure for sleeplessness (long walks during the day) has no effect on you. Maybe yoga?
I think the cure is to be 15-20 years younger. But I don’t have sleeplessness; I’ve got no-more-than-6-hours-sleepness.
Lazy?
Good morning!
The dogs look very relaxed, Andi. What are you feeding them? 🙂
Glad your back-up internet is working, ask. The downside to living where we live is that when the internet’s out, it’s OUT. The neighbors are too far away for piggybacking.
So, I was talking to my mom last night, and she told me how my aunt (my dad’s sister) had been talking to her about the election. “This is so important, and I just felt like I had to do something.” So what did my aunt do?
Got tickets and went to a McCain event. As a supporter.
I can’t believe I’m genetically connected to this woman. My mom says she’s having trouble maintaining a relationship with her, knowing she’s so, um, dumb.
Don’t need food — just go outside and endlessly throw a rag bone for the dogs to chase and bring back and chase and bring back and chase and …
Hope everybody has a great Saturday.

someone stole my Obama yard sign overnight. And all of the Obama signs as far as my little eye can see. I have a spare and I’m thinking of putting it out and coating it with axle grease or something nasty.
and speaking of stinks, I think you should have the cats and Hopeful pee on the replacement.
Hmmm, how to make them pee on demand….
Or you and the boys could go all MacGyver and alarm it. 🙂
I read that last week and was relieved that I don’t live in THAT kind of a neighborhood…. 🙁
Ha! I like it! Sent a teaser and link to the leftie columnist at the Bloomington newspaper just for fun. They have a lot of sign thefts in their county.
You could slather gobs of this stuff around the edge. I can attest to its effectiveness when applied liberally to car door handles;-)
As an alternative, there’s a really nasty smelling deer repellent I use on the plants around the yard. The downside is the yard smells like something very large died about two weeks ago.
Both methods need renewal after significant rainfall.
Ha! That’s a funny article.
We KY’d a friend’s pickup truck door handles one evening, when he was out trying to impress a new girlfriend. The results were pretty hilarious.
Argh. I overslept this morning, and I’m too late to make it to my yoga class.
Howe did I manage to do that? Aren’;t these kids supposed to wake me up or something?
Teenagers waking you up? That’s optimistic.
Having spent a couple of hours with Verizon’s customer service yesterday, the rep eventually decided that my modem is shot. New one on the way, meanwhile, I depend on the neighbors’ signal – not always reliable.
They’re up now, getting ready for their busy social schedule. 🙂
I’m sorry about your modem. I hope the new one gets there soon.
