That’s the only word I can think of to describe this.
Seriously?
I would much rather my money go to putting Obama on a plane to see his grandmother, than to buying Sarah Palin a new brassier.
Seriously?
Leaving aside the likelihood that the Secret Service would let him take a commercial airliner, when the 85-year-old woman who pretty much raised you falls down and breaks a hip, and is gravely ill, you don’t waste time getting over there.
Even if you’re in the middle a presidential campaign, when any absence from the campaign trail is a huge risk.
Where family is concerned, especially someone who has been so important in your life, you do what you have to to be there. Especially if you missed the chance to be there at the bedside before, and grandma is the last one left.
Barack Obama heads to Hawaii this afternoon to visit his beloved grandmother, Madelyn Dunham. Dunham has become seriously ill, prompting the Democratic nominee to leave the campaign trail just 12 days before the election. This morning on CBS’ "The Early Show", Obama told Harry Smith that he it was important for him to see his grandmother while she is still alert.
“My grandmother’s the last one left,” Obama said.
He also expressed regret for not being by his mother’s bedside when she passed away in 1995.
“Yeah, got there too late. You know, I mean, it was sort of like this, in the sense that she had a terminal illness. We knew– she wasn’t doing well. But you know, the diagnosis was such that we thought we had a little more time, and we didn’t,” Obama said, “And so I want to make sure that I don’t make the same mistake twice.”
The best the McCain campaign could have done would have been to simply say that their thoughts are with Obama, his grandmother, and his family during this difficult time.
But this? This is what they trot out?
Hell, I’m embarrassed for them.
Pitiful. Just pitiful.
.
Coming January, the new President Barack Obama must fly commercial airlines, the Republicans claim!
"But I will not let myself be reduced to silence."
Good one!
That is just one sorry attempt from a sorry flack. He always tries to muster this outrage but when the segment ends, he flashes a mile-wide grin.
Not ta say “I told ya so” but I called this response two days ago.
GOP steps on their family values message. AGAIN.
Brad and his curious ilk are beginning to remind me of Baghdad Bob. Denialism has brought them to this and I can only pray that the polls are correct and we won’t be faced with leadership anymore that cannot string 3 words together without lying.
it’s the last gasp of a dying political party looking at a rout that may be comparable to the mcGovern loss in 1972; electoral college: 520 nixon v 17 mcGovern.
just who do they think this will appeal to? even the most basic, troglodyte fundie will see this as a reverence for family.
it’s time to get the back-loader out and bury these scum in the hole they’ve dug for themselves.
pathetic is more apropos….they have nothing to offer but fear, hate and derision.
Oh for Gawd’s sake, now they can’t find the receipts for Palin’s wardrobe nothing matches up.
OFTLOG! I have seen some pretty pitiful responses during this campaign, but this has to be the worst. McCain should definitely take him out of the surrogate pool, although I imagine it’s starting to get a little sparse. Secret Service wouldn’t let Obama on a commercial flight, the freakin’ idiot! I hope this little clip gets played all over the place. It shows the compassion McCain’s campaign has.
most disgraceful comment i have ever seen. I’m sure the Secret Service Protection would cost more on a commercial flight. Republican are desperate.
Wasn’t Andy McCarty a boy-actor in the 80’s?
I had to delete my comment, becuase this video made me so angry, I just spewed curse words and physical threats.
what a douchebag this Brad person is. His mother probably committed suicide when she realized that she’d given birth to a talking turd.
He used to be on Abrams’ show as a guess before Rachel got that slot. He is a real piece of work.
