It is my belief, and my fervent hope, that one of the most important qualities Barack Obama will bring to the White House is that he doesn’t think like David Ignatius. People that have spent too much time inside the Beltway writing our national narrative have accumulated something akin to brain-plaque. They couldn’t think outside of the box if you removed the box and incinerated it.

Illustrating clearly why unimaginative pundits don’t run for the predidency.
It is Sunday, two days before the election. You and Steven should probably take a break before you both get a case of PTSD, down to the wire. Just a thought. If McCain wins, so be it. It just means that the country needs another four years to throw the corporate/rich man’s party under the bus.
Afterall, the American people can’t be that stupid, can they?
I have massive stores of Xanax*, so don’t worry, lol.
*Snark for you people at the DEA.
“the American people can’t be that stupid, can they?“
You can actually ask that question after the last eight years?!
YES
THEY
CAN!
I notice that guys like Ignatius never wrote stuff like that about GW Bush as he careened from one disaster to another.
IMHO, one of the keys to a successful Obama presidency will be for him to put to good use the citizen organization he built. It’s a powerhouse– organized, smart, and capable of helping him enact a new agenda.
I agree. The trick will be finding a way to keep it alive. The net is a great help, but you need organization and cash. I think we can manage the cash side; it’s the organization that needs thinking through. Hard to see his organization melding into the Democratic Party, even with Dean at the helm. Too many entrenched interests, plus it’s always good to have a second loaded gun in reserve.
