New day, new cafe.
(FM, come on over here…is it really going down to 26 at your place?)
Morning CG.
Yep I just looked it up again and I was wrong. High of 56F and low of 29F. The lows are staying in the 20’s for the rest of the week, and then it will warm back up.
Right now though we’re supposed to have rain all day.
I’ll take those temps! It’s been pretty chilly here. I thought my hands were going to freeze solid yesterday afternoon – I finally had to put on my gloves to warm them up.
That is pretty cold! Yesterday I was wearing shorts and short sleeve shirt. I figure tomorrow I’ll be breaking out a coat.
I hate when the weather flips around like that. One of the CBs always gets sick then.
Yeah I’m to the point to where I want the weather to make up its mind. I usually get two bad colds a year. When the weather flip flops like this during the winter and summer. Always something to look forward to. 🙂
I need to refresh more often — I totally missed that there was a new cafe.
Here’s the comment I left in the defunct cafe:
It’s cold here now but it was warmer yesterday and the snow we had got rained away.
Bebo is like you — she thought snow was the funnest thing she’d ever seen. Did you know if you go run on the snow on the porch, you can slide on it!! And then you can scoop it up and eat it!!!
My early morning wake-up and cafe cleaning must be throwing you off. 😉
Old dial-up habits die hard. Even though I’ve had the satellite for over a year, I still refresh as though I was on a 56K modem.
Yahoo for Bebo! Nothing more fun than playing in snow.
and it was very, very good.

Now if that’s not the perfect picture of slackatude, then I don’t know what is. 🙂
Yep but it doesn’t last — she’s a bundle of energy. I think she would happily run for hours at a time if only I would stay outside with her.
I had that problem with George. He’s finally starting to calm down a little bit, but it’s a very small little bit.
What gets me the most is when I take him outside, and I’ll be freezing out there. I call George to come back into the house, but he ignores me until he’s ready to come inside.
Our dogs go out on their own but Bebo will only stay out a short time before she wants to come back in and be where we are. But walks in the woods are definitely her thing — she must put in 5 miles for every 1 I do.
Living in this neighborhood I wish I had a fenced in back yard. I always have to keep an eye out for other dogs roaming through. George will take out for any dog he see in the yard. I can’t run after him like I used to.
I guess it would be a really bad idea to let him learn the hard way what happens when you pick on a dog that outweighs you by 50 pounds.
She is such a ham! How do the others stand it?
I think she has the most expressive face and body language of any dog we’ve ever had. She isn’t giving Sniff any competition as the world’s greatest snuggler though.
As for how they stand it, maybe I should take a picture of Giddy doing the wolf-face when she’s had enough — the pull back the lips, expose the teeth, and do the low throaty growl get-outta-my-space face. 🙂
That would be a funny picture of giddy…
Phoebe the wonder Shih-Tzu is our snuggly dog. Although Gracie would be more than happy to give Luna competition in glomminess, no impending puppies required.
And Dumbledore just wants food and a spot at the foot of the bed, with the occasional tummy scratch.
It’s actually a pretty scary face but then a malamutt is kind of scary without doing anything (as the reaction to her simply walking up to any number of delivery people and bible thumpers has amply proved).
I don’t recall much of a reaction to sneaky politicians coming around to campaign.
Well the nose knows, ya know — they can tell who the good folks are. 🙂
Well, it is Friday here, and it’s raining. Woohooo. The rain is only supposed to last the morning, but it’s at least a proper one. At the moment I’m watching some very wet Fairy wrens trying to peck bits off soggy kibble.
Luna, of course, has gone back to sleep on the couch.
Luna, “helping” with yesterday’s mural painting.
A mural – what fun!
Yeah, I like painting murals. The local women’s health centre is turning 21 next week. The mural is part of the celebration/commemoration.
I’ll post a photo when it’s finished.
Will you take a head-on shot when it’s done and post it?
I’ve had another up all night, nights. So I’m finally beginning to feel sleepy. I’m off to nap-land.
Everyone have a good day.
Pleasant dreams, FM.
Happy zzzzzz, FM!
Good morning, boran2!
Good afternoon, CG!
Good morning, afternoon or night – which ever one you might be having.
So who has big plans for today, except for working. 🙂
It’s Friday. All the young, sexy things have big, big plans. We geezers have fading memories of what those might be. 😉
Morning Andi.
Yep fading memories. 😉
But I guess that’s better than no memories.
True, very true.
But isn’t sexy ageless?
Olivia is out of town. It will return next Friday with a theme of Tools and Machines.
Meanwhile … brrr.

That is wild, with the green of the tree showing, the reddish brown under the tree, and the blowing snow.
I slept better last night…only one wake-up around 2 am, and only for a few minutes. Yay.
I woke up at 12:15 and have been up ever since. Gotten a lot of cleaning done though.
Wow, if I got up and made myself clean the house in the middle of the night, that would probably cure me of waking up. 🙂 Maybe I’ll try that.
Today is an abstract-writing day for me. Sometimes it’ nice to work on things you can start and finish all in the same day…
Yep if you can finish it on the same day it does give you that feeling of accomplishment. I’m usually lucky to get something started and finished in the same year.
It was really cold too — I seriously had trouble feeling the shutter my finger was so numb. I had to suffer for my art.
Good on the good night’s sleep.
Glad you’ll go to such drastic lengths to provide us with photos for the Froggy Bottom. 🙂
Yeah, I’m soooo noble. 🙂
Is that snow in the trees?
Well if it’s not, it’s cocaine and the feds will be arriving any second. 🙂
So do you live in the Andi’s Mountains?
What a horrible pun. 🙂
🙂
Though around here is the popular thing is growing marijuana in corn fields.
Gosh cocaine forrest and marijuana corn fields. Did we time warp back into the 60’s. 🙂
Some of us never left. 😉
I need to follow the yellow brick road so I can get back to it. Actually I don’t need to get back there. My mind is freezing up right now.
Help,
I`m tripping & I can`t get down.
How`s tricks FM?
How’s it going Head?
What’s that song, “What condition my condition is in”.
I don’t seem to remember those times very well. Thing are a little foggy somehow.
I woke up this mornin with the sundown shinin in
I found my mind in a brown paper bag within
I tripped on a cloud and fell-a eight miles high
I tore my mind on a jagged sky
I just dropped in to see what condition my condition was in
Hi ID.
Yep I’m a little hazy from back at that time too, but that’s the song. 😉
Hello FM! Its well past my bedtime. Catch you tomorrow maybe.
See ya later ID. Have a good nights sleep.
but this is for you, FM:
I hate to say it, but I remember seeing Kenny Rogers and the First Edition singing that song on the TV series, Hullabaloo. Nope I’m not showing my age at all.
Wow! That brings back old memories, fuzzy as they are. Thanks CabinGirl!
Well I’m dozing off in my chair, so it’s time for me to go.
Everyone have a good day.
Hope you get all caught up on sleep, FM.
but not quite as bad. Moved up to the low 20s but with a chilly wind so not that much improvement.
Hope everybody is staying warm and that FM got some sleep.
Good morning!
Kind of cold here as well at 29. No snow, though.
I’m enjoying a (reasonably) fast laptop again. It was so full of crap that yesterday I eventually had to reset it to factory setting. Even the tech guy in the office could not clean it. But well worth the hours of re-installation.
Full of crap that you put on or that it came with?
Primarily by young asklet, I think. Games seem to have a lot of it and when you do free trials of 3-4 games in an afternoon, it adds up over the months. And they are almost impossible to uninstall. The registry was a total mess.
Several years ago we acquired a browser hijacker on the firehouse computer that required the same remedy you describe. I suspect someone had been on an online gambling site. It was an awful ordeal.
I run this simple cleanup utility occasionally with good results. Its free for download and if you like it, you can make a donation to the developer. As always, one must be diligently careful about what one deletes from the registry;-)
Thanks. I’ve used that. Also Wise Registry (free), Error Expert and RegistryBooster (both paid) – and several others that are supposed to speed up the machine. Tech guy was not happy with me – in his opinion, several of these ‘helpful’ programs add to the problems.
So the next time he does something like that, you gonna rap his fingers with a ruler? 😉
He got the iTouch for his birthday, plenty of online game downloads for that. His problem now 😉
Good morning Andi and ask – its snowing at our house!
Yeah, ID — a regular blizzard. 🙂
Darn, its almost stopped. I like it primarily because it covers up all the crap people have thrown along the highway and makes the scenery look clean for a little while.
At the rate it’s snowing now, we ought to have enough for that some time around March.
Which is probably the reason we no longer have the nifty ski slopes we once had west of town:(
I read about the big plans for that area — very ambitious. In fact, I’d say overly ambitious; I’m wondering if it will ever actually get built.
There’s an unconfirmed rumor that Cook money may be backing the project. If so, its probably a go. If not, probably not so likely.
Even with the cook money it’s hard to believe anybody would want to try something so risky now.
I’ve been trying to get Mom into an local assisted living apartment for over a year and a half now, so perhaps that aspect of the project would be popular. Of course it would depend on the rent structure in a very big way.
Good morning you guys! Cold here too, 28, and I have lately gone from the person who is always hot to the one who can’t warm up.
Good morning Second Nature! I know a coffee shop with a huge toasty fireplace. We used to hang out for hours there when we were younger and had less responsibility. This golden years stuff is a myth!
Boy that sounds really great right about now.
How is your mom doing after the hospital trip last week?
She’s doing better and able to eat ok. Her speech therapist noticed she was swallowing a lot of air when drinking and then urping it back up with accompanying digestive acids so they thickened her liquids a little to prevent that. They’ll do another endoscopy in several weeks to check on the healing. Thanks for asking!
It’s tough to have a sick relative this time of year, I’ll bet. I’ll hope for the best!
Do you at least have sun or is this way too much like being in Cleveland?
It’s sunny so that helps a little, and next week it’ll be back into the sixties.
How are the dogs liking the snow and cold?
Giddy loves the snow, Sniff thinks it’s a reason to love the futon all the more, and Bebo thinks snow is the bestest fun ever — she run on the deck and slides on it and then, if there’s enough, scoops up the snow that was pushed up by her slide. Yesterday she discovered frozen water which she though was nifty to walk on until it made a sharp crack and then she shot off — it’ll be interesting to see if she tries walking on it again.
Uh, did you want to know all that? 🙂
I was wondering about all of those frozen little puddles and creeks, they must be great fun for a youngster. You ready for the long winter?
She does loves running through puddles, the bigger splash the better.
I’m always ready for winter in December. I start getting very unready about mid-January and completely unready in February.
Yup. Keep us up-to-date on her experiences.
Here she is, right after the ice crack.

I love it Andi. I have just left my country house and moved into an apartment. The worst thing about it is no dogs, so your pictures are a connection to the real world for me.
I’m so sorry you had to move to an apartment. I’m glad the critters can cheer you up a bit. All the dogs seem to be walking photo ops but Bebo with her puppy enthusiasm and long, skinny body is particularly entertaining.
The Youtube clip CabinGirl posted last night got me thinking about the whole hippie scene again which led to Owsley, which led eventually to this tasty morsel…
Funny how the mind wanders.
