How has everyone been? I feel like I’ve been offline for a while.
Just finished wrapping my presents and sticking them under the tree…
and Merry Christmas to you!
Are the CBs up and all excitied?
Actually, they’re still asleep. I’m surprised, because CBtY wanted to go to bed early and get up at dawn to open presents. I got up at 430 to finish wrapping gifts, and now I’m debating whether I could go back to sleep or not. I’ll probably just wait till after the boys head over to their dad’s.
We had my mom over for Christmas eve dinner last night, so we did some gift exchanging then. Maybe that took the edge off?
What are your big plans for the day?
What!?! Still asleep on Christmas morning! Have you checked for pods? 😉
No big plans for us — just a quiet day at home. We won’t do the family celebration over in Cincy until Saturday.
I did fall back to sleep, and no one got up till about 8:30. This teenager parenting thing has it’s benefits. 🙂
It’s a beautiful sunny day here. After the boys leave for their dad’s, we have a quiet afternoon planned, although my brother invited us to come for a visit, so we may head down to his place for a while.
I think a walk sounds like a fun idea too.
Hi CG.
Merry Christmas, olivia! I guess you have a white christmas, don’t you?
Good morning and Merry Christmas!
Way down memory lane – no Christmas without Wiener Sängerknaben:
That is a beautiful performance.
It is!
I’m non-religious, but some traditions remain strong – simply because of beauty – and not necessarily the spiritual content.
Here’s another great boys choir:
Yep. I’m an atheist but I find it easy to respond to the emotional content of beautiful music; it doesn’t matter to me whether it has religious significance or not.
I’m with you: beautiful music is beautiful music, religious or not.
Merry Christmas, ask!
Was Santa good to everyone at your place?
And Merry Christmas to everyone in the cabin.
I forgot to track Santa and he seems to be late…
The kids will show up in a couple of hours – as will curly. Reliable sources tell me Santa will show up tonight and my information is also that everyone will be happy at the outcome.
The best version of I Have a Little Dreidel ever.
Such nice yarmulkas!
That’s great. Our Christmas stocking gelt this year was wrapped to look like Euros and Danish Kroner (let’s hear it for shopping at Trader Joe’s).
Maybe they go together?
And some pure, ancient humor.
Wacky YouTube – Dinner for One
Merry Christmas olivia and ask, Andi & CabinGirl! Your gingerbread person reminded me of this little guy,a celebrity from our past now sadly faded into obscurity.
Merry Christmas!
That is adorable!
We’ve got a house full of relatives, extended family and I think a few people wandered in off the street. It seems every single person has a dog and bought it with them. George has been going crazy all morning. We’re not supposed to meet out at the farmhouse until around 6:00 pm for dinner. So here at the house we’re having the traditional meal and tonight we’ll have sort of a mismash. Everything from stew to boudin(Cajun type sausage), to barbque, to who knows what.
I keep telling myself, come Saturday it will all quieten down, at least I hope so. 🙂
I hope everyone’s holidays are great and enjoy yourselves.
Take care
FM
Merry Christmas, FamilyMan!
I can’t believe everybody brought their pets with them…hope you’re enjoying all the company, and that you get your quiet come Saturday. 🙂
Merry Christmas to you and your family!
I guess I exaggerated with the dogs. We’ve only got two cocker spaniels and George. I wish George would learn from them. They haven’t barked once and all that George has been doing is barking.
The company so far has been enjoyable, but I give it another hour or two and then it’s Bah Humbug again. 🙂
Company’s fun, but I have to confess I enjoy having the place to myself again after they leave.
On a totally different note, can you believe my ex swiped someone’s (not mine) cigarettes and lighter off the end table while he was here picking up the CBs? After we invited him to stay and have Belgian waffles with us?
What an interesting way to show some Christmas spirit…:::shaking my head:::
Yep I’m the same way after company leaves.
As far as the Xmas spirit goes, just look at it as if you could have had one of those psyco ex’s, and the cigs would have been the least of your worries. There’s always bright side to look at. 🙂
Yeah. I’ve moved past that now…to playing CBtY’s Shaun White snowboarding game on the Wii Fit board. What a hoot- it’s too bad I’m such a lame snowboarder. 🙂
I don’t think the Wii and I would get along. I figure it’s enough exercise to just sit down in my recliner and push back to raise the feet. Too much more than that and the muscles start to burn. 🙂
It’s funny, it’s more a matter of shifting your weight from the balls of your foot to the heels on the left, right, or both feet.
Which sounds easier than it is, for some reason…but it’s kind f funny when you do a faceplant and your onscreen self gets up all covered in snow.
Are you just chillaxing this afternoon before you head out to the farmhouse for the main event?
Haven’t been chillaxing since yesterday. I’m heading out to the farmhouse right now, and heading for the nearest recliner.
here’s CBtY on the snowboard game this morning:
Doesn’t sound like slacking to me 😉
Merry Christmas to you and the entire Family!
It hasn’t been any slacking so far. Come Saturday though, I hope to be back into my slacking mode. 🙂
Hope you and your family have a most wonderful holiday.
Merry Christmas Family Man! Hope there’s a nap time squeezed into your busy schedule today!
I don’t see a nap coming for some time. Even when I go into my room and shut the door, George can still hear everyone, and he keeps up a constant yap. What can you do? 🙂
I hope you and your family are having a great Christmas.
Heh, I am quite familiar with boudin (BOO-dan)these days…never thought I’d try it but it’s good!
Happy day to you and all the rels, FM…glad to see you back.
Hey SN.
Yep boudin is quite good. At least I think so.
Hope you and the family are having an excellent Xmas.
Heading out to the farmhouse now, and hopefully I’ll be asleep in a recliner in the next 30 minutes. 🙂
Sleep on, dude!
This week’s theme: Roads, Rails, and Trails. Show us some paths you’ve taken … pictures of.
From a xmas visit to Imogen’s uncles recently acquired bush block.
Flying duck orchid.
I’m having left-over curried eggs for breakfast.
Imogen holding her niece’s hand to show off the tiny frog they found in Grandma’s pond.
Imogen helping her niece fly the kite we gave her.
A little bit of green for all you winter denizens.
Mum’s back garden and view.
Kangaroo paw, from her front garden, which unlike the more formal back garden is mostly Australian native plants.
Wow, Mum’s garden is gorgeous. What an impressive amount of work that must be and what a reward for doing it.
And the little frog is soooo cute.
Mum, or Mumsy, as I like to call her, is one of the more passionate gardeners I’ve ever met.
About three years ago she decided to move back to Tasmania from Victoria. She bought a little orchard lot about a half-an-hour south of Hobart. She had some of the trees removed and designed a little 700 sq ft house to fit in the space created. Then she planned, planted and tended everything else you see. In her spare time she volunteers for the local land-care and community garden groups.
Mum’s little house as seen from from the roadside, where Imogen’s niece and young cousin are playing with a new toy on the grassy verge.
What gardeners give their grandkids.
Wow, that’s so pretty. Like a little piece of heaven.
I’ll tell her you said that.
We’re doing a bit of gardening ourselves today. But only the veggie garden. Mostly we’re just pulling weeds and cutting foot-tall grasses from the paths. All of which gets hauled down the hill and fed to the alpacas, much to their delight.
I caught these two making out in the rhubarb and took their photo before showing them the bottom of my shoe.
This minuscule (1/3 inch) nectar-feeding Flower tumbling beetle faired lots better.
That little Romeo sure is ambitious 🙂
The little Romeos usually are.
I really like the vestigial wing on the female (they’re a flightless species called Southern Pyrgomorph). As with all of the native critters, we leave them be if they stay out of the house and veggie garden, otherwise lethal methods may occasionally be employed.
Yeah, I noticed that little wing and wondered what it was. The detail in your photos is always amazing.
Here’s a full resolution view of the wings. There are two laciniate upper wings and two very thin transparent lower wings, one of which you can see just below the upper wing on the near side.
I covered half of the sofa with a blanket for Hope to lie on so she doesn’t get hair all over it. She invariable burrows underneath though for the warmth.
Lol. That’s fantastic.
Luna has finally “popped” and is showing her pregnancy. All she really wants to do is sleep in the house (she’s usually an outside critter). Even when we were outside she wanted to be inside. Of course part of that probably stems from her extreme dislike of heat, and the house is cooler than the yard at this time of year.
And she says just think how much warmer we’d both be if you’d snuggle under here with me.
Panorama shot (really big) for foto flogging.
and it works very, very well.
Happy birthday to Second Nature! Hope the day is full of chocolate frosting and ood times!
