This diary is based on videos provided by Haitham Sabbah, a Palestinian exile living in the Middle East and the proprietor of Sabbah’s Blog. The first one is cynically entitled, To Israel, With Love.
But a line in the second video actually caught my attention, We just want to be free, because it describes the rock bottom cause of the present Gaza invasion and the Middle East conflict. For more than forty years, Palestinians in the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and Gaza have been living under a military occupation, while their lands were being confiscated by Israeli settlers enforced by Israeli military. Although Gaza was relinquished in 2005, it has been surrounded by Israeli military forces in what amounts to nothing less than a siege.
Israel does not target civilians, it says. Then why not let international reporters into Gaza in order to make that determination. Al Jeezera, however, is on the ground and providing what information it can.
From Haitham’s site (slightly revised):
This clip is taken from today’s continuous heart breaking news from Gaza.
A grandfather from Gaza speaks in Hebrew to the defense minister of Israel (message starts @ min 2:00):
The remaining videos were in a piece called, Massacring Gaza Kids-Not Seen on CNN
These innocent civilians thought they are safe inside UN schools. A report from Aljazeera English yesterday:
This morning, a UN official reported to Aljazeera Arabic that two schools were targeted by Israeli air strikes, This is not the first time Israel has targeted refugee schools. Aljazeera Arabic has more details on this particular war crime:
Here is more a detailed and shocking clip from Aljazeera Arabic about the same war crime mentioned above. The first man is crying about the loss of all his family including his kids, wife, parents, cousins and all their kids. The second man cries about his family too, eight kids out of ten and his own parents killed. The second woman cries about her kids too, and although she managed to rescue half of them, the rest are under rubble.
Thanks Haitham for this look at the reality via Al Jeezera.
.
Similar to journalists or TV organizations critical of war violence who ‘happen’ to get shot in the head , the UN organization was very critical of the Israeli bombing raids on the people of Gaza. An accident that the UNRWA school was hit by two IDF artillery shells? In Israeli media there are different versions to explain the blast: Hamas stockpile of explosives.
See my earlier comments: UNRWA – Stop the Killing in Gaza
The UN General Assembly president Miguel D’Escoto listed Israeli violations in the statement:
“I remind all member states of the United Nations that the UN continues to be bound to an independent obligation to protect any civilian population facing massive violations of international humanitarian law — regardless of what country may be responsible for those violations,” the president said in the statement.
"But I will not let myself be reduced to silence."
Thanks for this post Oui.
The IDF Information Services is always prepared with a concocted justification for any atrocity. Sadly, many international news services, especially from the USA, take these IDF releases and simply repeat it (Robert Fisk, commenting). The effect is nothing less than false propaganda.
I’m observing that the worm has turned. Israelis need take note of the reaction across the world; in particular the blogosphere.
Go read Ian Welsh’s short piece over at FDL and also the comments:

Is this guy SERIOUS?! I sure hope not. I sure hope his intention is ironic.
I believe that they are. 2/3 of the jewish evacuees have not been resettled and want to return and many are now part of the IDF force in Gaza.
